Re incremental One tooth more on the front is more than a 10% increase, where 2 teeth on the back is approx 4%.

Why not get Montesa forks and link them up to a Montesa, should be a fairly/relatively easy solution. Personally the appeal of a pre-65 bike is the crudity of it.

26mm kehin or 26 amal for pre65 scottish.

fwiw I have never been able to touch my toes, or sit crossed legged either !

Most genuine pre-65 frames have had this type of mod, so if you know anybody that runs one, they should be able to give you first hand experience.

I had these symptoms on an xt600 years ago, turn out there was a loose bit in the exhaust that moved with the increased pressure.
