  1. Yes you are wright but i can't agree with this age thing,it should be that any lad can enter if he is good enough as apposed to old enough. A 16yr old lad who has just started trials should never be aloud to enter a British A class championship event, he would be a danger to himself and a nusance to all the other riders. But on the other hand look at Jack Sheppard,Jake Luter, Richard Sadler, and Keelan last years C class riders who are doing OK in B class. To my mind the question has to be are you good enough, and not are you old enough.

While entering last Sundays trial may have been wrong, i am starting to feel that the implications of that act may now have long term benifits for everyone. Because while Club trials are for the club standard rider, centre trials are for the centre standard rider, the Nationals are for the very best in the country, and are so far away from the club standard that the two can never be mixed. The spectical of the British youth nationals should be a show case of the talent of the future, and there for the time can't be far away when only the best will be aloud to take part, or a repeat of last sundays troubles will happen again and again.

Thanks for that, have read handbook and that clears that up. The only problem now is that with the large numbers of A/B class riders taking part in the Youth nationals, and with all the hold ups and time problems can this continue?

The reason i stress this point is because i'am sure this happens at most national youth trials but know one has ever mentioned it before. Yet one rider goes up for one trial ( not saying it was the right thing too do ) and all hell brakes loose. The rule has to work both ways to be fair to everyone. No one has said anything about the lady rider competing at Otter Vale, which is why i think this has been a personal grevance by some people as appossed to a practical one.

You are forced to retire. You choose to withdraw.

At the first round of last years C/D national several older lads took part, the one that i recall started on the C route, and finished on the D route because the C route was to hard for him . So will this practise of letting older lads take part also have to stop at C/D nationals?

Two sides to every storey as ever and the out of class rider just happened to be my son. First of all the Regs for this trial were sent to us with out any request from me, with a letter saying that " We look forward to seeing you at our fouthcoming event". On the entry fourm the riders age and bike size was put with " riding out of class, for no award", written at the bottom of the entry fourm. That entry was then accepted by the club. At the trial it became obvious the some parents were not happy with the situation, so we withdrew from the event. From what i saw of this other wise exellent event most of the hold ups came at section three where riders could not get through, and this was the only way up to the next sections. My son was one of only a handfull of riders who did get through this section, so i can't see how he could be blamed for holding anyone up. On a wider point i did see some lads hurt themselves, one nasty fall on section two. Instead of looking at age, i have always thought that there should be a set standard, or qualifiying trial for this type of event, because most of the hold ups on Sundays were by riders who through no fault of their own, were clearly not up to the standard of this excellent event. Would it not be possible to have a cut off mark for each lap, a bit like golf, this would reduce the number of riders on the later laps so that the top lads would not have to rush around que jumping. But at the end of the day trials is just a sport that we all love, so lets just keep it that way.
  10. Some of the ladies thought this was the best ladies British championship round ever, so well done AG IOW for all your hard work last week on the sections.
  11. Round one of the Y.M.S.A. trials championship Sunday, just wondered how may of the top lads are going. Will Wiggy & Danby be up against Challoner again in the A class, who will be riding the B & C class's ?
  12. Yes we have aranged for the sun to come out for the day so you can admire the view from the top of the downs
  13. There are only two areas where the sections are, and one by itself, and the club has aranged for lifts to and from the section areas. We thought as your coming from the mainland you would want a decent trial, not a micky mouse job, the club has a good reputation for putting on good trials that we wish to keep. We want people to go home and tell everyone how good the trial was so that they will come back for our Two day and youth nationals.
  14. The first round of the ladies British championship this Sunday will now be held at Cheverton Chalk pit, which is near Shorwell. On Saturday afternoon,Ladies are invited to practise at Shorwell chalk pit which is one mile up the road and home of the current ladies Champion Becky Cook, they are also invited to camp there overnight if they so wish. This is were last years A/B youth trial was held, so you can have a go at their sections if you want. The trial will have a lap of nearly 3 miles, so come prepaired.

    Beta Rev-80

Have just rebuilt engine on my sons 04 80, drain water out, remove water pump housing, and clutch slave cylinder. Lay bike on it's side to save draining gear oil, remove kick start and casing, you should then see whats wrong as its a simple arrangment. Don't over tension kickstart return spring when you put it back together as this can brake the return stop inside. If you need to remove the clutch basket just undo the 15mm bolt in the middle and the whole assembly will come off, you dont need to take the plates apart.
  16. Interesting view, but George has grown and is doing ok on the 125 Gas Gas, i think he will start as favourite, but Joel will win some rounds as may Jack Burch. One of the reasons we splt George & Chris is to stop the punch up's in the van on the way home
  17. There is a class for the best Lady rider on the B route in the IOW trial. The big news today is that the trial will now be held at Cheverton Chalk pit, which is near Shorwell and is one of the best place's in the South of England to hold a trial. Lot of rocks and climbs to play with, and the venue for day two of the IOW two day trial in May. Also competitors may camp over night at Shorwell chalk pit which is a mile up the road and the home of someone called BECKY COOK. There maybe a practise session organised on the Saturday afternoon, details to follow. Food will be avalaible at the trial.
  18. The organisers of this trial know what they are doing, and know the standard, the championship route will be hard enough without being dangerous. The B route will be fun and the novice route will be for those who have never ridden in a trial before. We have two ladies riding from the Island who have never ridden in a trial before, so the novice route will be for the like's of them. We just need more riders to make it a great day out for the Ladies.
  19. I think it is a good idea for the club to incorpoate a male class in the event, however it does take away the prestige for the girls, it is nice to have our own events. However we do need more support to raise the profile a bit. Personally I would love the ladies rounds to be incorporated with the a&b's or even the british championship! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Coming back from a South Western centre championship trial last Sunday, sat on the ferry with Becky (Ladies British Champion). She said ( I think the ladies championship should be included with the youth B championship, because this would be the right level for us). And just out of interest,Josh Stephens from the IOW was 8th in the first round of the youth B championships, and i don't think he has ever beaten Becky in at trial yet,.
  20. But with the Junior & Youth world Championships there are more than 15 riders competing at each round. The main world championship is supported by these class's and i can't see anything wrong with that. The worlds top riders are class above everyone, and if you put them alongside national standard riders it just would'nt work. The only improvement you could make would be to do away with all this age thing and run championships according to ability instead of age, a bit like the football. Poll dancing stripers at each section & and free beer would also be another great step forward
  21. At the start of this week the IOWMCC had 15 entries for the first round of the ladies British championship on March 12 . If the Ladies don't support thier championship why should clubs bother to organise trials for them, it takes as much effort to put on a trial for 15 as 115 riders. The club even had a beginners route planed, but at the moment we have one section per rider. Maybe things will improve this week but time is running out.

As the main organiser of the indoor youth trial, i can tell you that Pat Smudge would be welcome with open arms if he can come, thats if he's up for the challange.
