  1. I haven't ridden them for a while, as I have been riding out of centre a lot for the last couple of years. I might do the Cambridge 50/50 round on the 21/1. I have ridden the Stonebridge every year though for the past 15 years though. It is the best trial in our centre. Unfortunately due to the terrain, when you enter the Hillsborough Classic, The Peak, The Bemrose, Manx or whatever it makes it very difficult to get yourself motivated to ride the trials in our centre again. This is no reflection on the effort the organising clubs put into the trial, but just the lack of decent ground we have round here. They make the best of what they have. I would rather get in the van and drive for 2 or 3 hours to ride a decent trial than drive for an hour to ride where we are.
  2. When my 4RT broke, I had a bum bag full of tools and I still couldn't fix it. Didn't fancy taking the gear box apart by the road side. Even Monts break occasionally!
  3. The Hillsborough round ( late october ) and \the Peak Trial (early November) are excellent rounds. Definetly reccommend them. I make the trip up from the south mid centre for these every year.
  4. A friend of mine had one, and he liked it. They are a lot lighter than the standard pipe. He reckoned it softened the power up from take off, but he had removed all the restrictors on his bike. I could't quite get my head round that. Take out all the restrictors, and then buy something to make it smoother again!
  5. Sikaflex is the way forward, straight over the existing rim tap. Nothing gets through. Just don't sikaflex over the valve as I very nearly did!
  6. Why is it that you buy a carb from the manufacturer who has been doing this for years and then have to modify them. Would you buy a BMW then start drilling holes in the EFI to get it to work right? I had the same problem with the Dellorto VHST on the Sherco 4T Seems to me we accept poor equipment in trials far too easy? You are exactly right. I started a post off about this when I picked up my new bike. I was making the point that the trials community as a whole should not accept poor quality, but people got to obseesed with trying to work out which bike I had bought, when the problem is the same with all of them (except maybe one). They all need modifying /fixing before you use them, and you shouldn't have to. I got a new VW in September, and I didn't have to improve anything on that, and when I did have a problem VW couldn't of been more helpful and apologetic. I certainly didn't get my spanners out for the car. So really you shouldn't have to for your bike. The trouble is we are all so desperate to ride them that, it is sometimes quicker and easier to sort them out yourself. This said when I did have probs with the new bike the dealer was helpful and followed up to check everything was now ok. So fair enough, but I have heard some terrible stories about other dealers and importers, that may or may not be true.
  7. The best way to come would be via past bedford on what I think is the A421. It crosses Junction 13 of the M1 anyway. This may get a bit complicated but here we go. Cross junction 13 of M1, Once you have crossed the motorway there is a roundabout that you want to go straight over, heading towards woburn. You will go past an old petrol station/haulage yard. Then 1/2 a mile further down you want to take a left signposted towards Woburn and Husborne Crawley. Follow this road to the end and you will come to a T junction with a pub on your left. You need to turn right here towards Woburn. Stay on this road until you come to another T junction which is woburn high street. Go left and then take your 1st right (about 1/4 mile), probably signposted Heath & Reach or Leighton Buzzard. Stay on this road until you reach a roundabout (the road twists and turns for about a 2/3 miles). The rondabout is on the main A5 road and you want to turn right torwards Milton Keynes. The road will turn into dual carriageway and then almost immediately there is an exit (the first one you will come to) for Little Brickhill, and Great Brickhill. Take this and you will come to a T junction. Go right then straight over the next roundabout and there should be a pub on your left. Immediately after the pub is a left hand turn. Take this the road will turn into a single track country lane and the trial is further up there on your left. Hope this helps. Those directions will work for you to then.
  8. Good Luck then Jack. I am on a Beta as well. A Union Jack on the back of my crash helmet. Come and say hello if you see me.
  9. No Probs, which direction are you coming from?
  10. Hello Piggy. Good Christmas? See you on Sunday. Are you doing 50/50 or hard route?
  11. Cheers Jack. I am a member of Berko thanks. I try and ride out of centre whenever possible, mainly road trials (more section scope in one trial). Purely because the land available in other centres is a lot better than what we have on offer in ours unfortunately. Saying that I will be at the Berko trial this Sunday though.
  12. Yes I am riding. It' sthe most local trial of the year for me, so I try not to miss it. If the weather is alright I might leave the van at home and just ride there. Saves a lot of messing about.
  13. Cheers, can't find the dates on there yet though. I am sure it will be updated soon. Thanks, Nice one. I got a few extra ones I hdn't planned from there as well.
  14. I have always been the kind of person that likes to plan ahead. Especially where biking is concerned. So I am filling in my calendar of events for 07. Does anybody know the planned dates for the Gerald Simpson (Yorkshire, near Reeth), and the Hipwell (Derbyshire) this year. Both are road based club trials, and are excellent. I would reccommend them to anyone who hasn't ridden them before.
  15. Didn't you used to ride in the south mids centre. I thought I saw your name in the results for the Stonebridge once, and you once mentioned riding in the Berko trial at Brickhill (that is on this weekend). Very long way from Hereford though! You have obviously moved, or I have got the wrong person. What are the non classic trials like round your way. We ride out of centre a lot. I used to get accross to Herefordshire and Worcestershire a lot with work and the land in that area looked like it had a lot of potential. More time was spent planning possible sections than visiting customers! Any trials you would reccomend making the trip from Bedfordshire for?

Has anybody got any idea when a riding list will be available for this. I have entered again this year and I am hoping that I will get a ride. It will be the first time I have ridden it, but hear that it's a superb event. One of the best of the year!
  18. In my opinion, yes! Favourate trial of the year.
  19. Oh well, there is plenty of other jobs I suppose. Can't miss the Manx!
  20. Has the date for th 07 Manx been confirmed yet? I know it is very early but I have been informed I have to go to Belgium for business next August, and wont arrive back until Saturday 25th. If this clashes with the Manx I may have to resign.
  21. I am a member of berko, and live in Leighton Buzzard. The berko trial at brickhill on new years eve is worth a ride.

    Beta Problem

To right. I can understand you trying to be pleasant and helpful, as this is what trials riders generally are, and I probably would be the same initially, but now is definitely the time to tell him to do one! I had a mate who bought a Beta Zero in the early 90's, it was mint. He got it home and the first time he fired it up in the back garden the gear box sh@t itself. He repaired it all at his expense. I don't think he even contacted the seller as he knows a fair bit about bikes and was confident it wasn't down to any hidden problems. It was just really bad luck, but that is the risk you take with a private purchase, especially off e bay.
  23. Hello Has anyone got the address for Richard Tatteshall, The membership Scretary of Berkhamstead MCC. If so could you PM it to me. Thanks Dave Giltrow
  24. Not really, I haven't seen a JCM at a trial for 15 years. This may be a genuine e mail though as it wouldn't surprise me if there was someone who collected bikes like that.
