  1. Cheers for th info. Can't make this Sunday as on a stag do. Went practising up there on Saturday though and had a good time. Managed to bend some more bits. A bit hot though. Shame you were working.
  2. Does anybody know when the next trial at The Old Mine, Kinlet is. Some of my family have moved a few vilages away, and I thought I could tie in a visit with riding in a trial. Thanks for your help. Cheers Dave

    08 Rev 3

Where did you hear that then?
  4. Yes that is what I thought. I sent the bloke a message saying it was a TYZ, just trying to be helpful. He replied telling me that it was a Gasser frame. I thought maybe it could of been a frame off an ealry delta, but I dont really care either way. I just thought it was quite funny!
  5. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GAS-GAS-250_W0QQitem...1QQcmdZViewItem Check out this quality bit of kit that I found on ebay. Apparently it has a Gas Gas frame? Clocked at 70 mph as well!!!!
  6. Piggy Hawks Nest is great for a bit of practice and all legal. Plenty to keep you occupied for 2 days. I am sure you will be able to get a bed and breakfast near by. Depending on what part of the week you are going I might join you for the day if you don't mind. How are you doing anyway. I haven't spoken to you for a while. The Buzzards weekend sounds pretty good I like a bit of tenting, I would have liked to come of come along, but we are in Reeth.
  7. Jacko is no mug on a Trials bike, probably better know for his road racing though where he's won National Championships. I am sure Jacko is not BAD on a trials bike, and that this years 3 day will be a real THRILLER. Sorry if my comments seem a little OFF THE WALL. Looking forward to it now. In my limited experience a fantastic event with a really good social side. It must be a nightmare setting the sections with the weather that we have had recently. All the work that the club put in is certainly appreciated. Hopefully we will have some dry weather between now and then.
  8. Just had my copy of the riding list through. Impressed to see that it is now attracting really famous names. Michael Owen and Michael Jackson are riding to name but two. Not long now. I had better get out on the bike!
  9. Yes an extremely well organised trial. A huge amount of work must have gone into setting out so many different groups of sections. Well done to Man 17. With regards to my peronal performance, after about section ten for me, it was game over. Just went to peices. I was so un bike fit. It was from then on just a case of getting to the end, legs flying everywhere. I hit every hole and rock in the trial. It is such a vicious circle the more tired you are the harder you have to work, but at least it is a step closer to fitness. I was kidding myself to think that a rider of my low ability could not ride their bike for 5 weeks and come along to a trial like this and get on ok. I was lucky to even finish I was so knackered. An absolutely fantastic trial with so many different groups of sections. I will be back again next year.
  10. Well it took a while, but I hand my notice in tomorrow. Everything is clear for the Manx. I have got an entry the ferry and the campsite are booked and I have a new job so I don't have to go to Belgium.!!! I reckon I deserve a special award just for the effort it has taken to get there. Can you sort it Cubby? Just need to get through Reeth in one piece now.
  11. I had this on my 07 and a friend had it on his 06. Every time you brake hard or the front forks compressed a lot you would get a clonk noise. The head bearings had come loose. Once they had been nipped up they have so far been fine. They seem to work loose from new and then are fine.
  12. All the one that Betarev3 mentions are fantastic trials. Also worth looking out for are the Gerald Simpson, just been on last weekend, but a really good single lap trial around Coverdale. Clubmen route is good. Hard enough to keep you on your toes but nothing to scare you. Hard route, to hard for me, but looked pretty sensible. Outstanding scenary and a good day out. The Doncaster cup trial in June run by Mansfiels Maun I think, is a good day out on the bike. The clubman always used to do the same route as the sidecars so it could be a bit easy, but the last year I rode it, 2005 I think it seemed to be toughened up. The hard route looked ok. Quite a few big steps though if I remember. Finally the Dave Rowland, starts from the same place as theBemrose and very similar going. Well worth a ride. All of the above are road trials by the way.

    Too Hard?

I have never ridden the Scottish, it is something that I have previously fancied doing but never had the belief that I would get round, and it is a lot of money to enter, prep and accomodation to go and not finish. I have been up there to spectate on 4 occasions now 02,03,04 and 07. The first 3 years I went to spectate it was still always in the back of my mind that I could have a decent attempt at it, but after spectating this year I think I will accept that it is something I will never do (which is why when comments in a certainly weekly publication that you are not a proper trials rider unless you have ridden the scottish wind me right up) On the Monday the weather was horrendous, and it was taking it's toll on the top riders let alone the clubman. I saw around 7 sections in total on Monday and in my opinion they looked harder than in previous years. What does amaze me is the amount of average everyday riders that enter and complete it. When I saw a lot of the riders coming into Lagnaha they looked ready to pack up, and that was day one. The determination that it takes for the clubmen to finish is imense. I read all the reports by the riders on the front page and in Katy Sunters she comments about her face being numb from the rain riding to Lagnaha. I have had that on many occasions in road trials, but I haven't had another 5 days riding ahead of me. Everyone who attempts it gets my respect, and everyone who finishes even more so. It is a fantastic event and I will continue to go and support the event, and would like to think that I would be able to go and observe some of the remote sections when I am a bit older. In answer to the question on the original topic IMHO from an outsiders point of view, what I saw this year for the clubmen looked to hard. I am sure though when the time comes for the entries to re open they will be well over subscribed again, and could probably fill the whole trial with people wanting to return from the previous year.

    Manx 2 Day

That one is closed to the public during the TT and Manx GP so I am led to believe, so that is a no go. I found the one we have booked on ukcampsite.com or something like that. The one we have booked is Glenlough campsite. It is in the village of Union Mills which is apparently not very far from Douglas, and according to the website there is a pub within 10 mins walk the website address is glenloughcampsite.com As I said in the last post I don't know how good it is though as I haven't been there. It looks ok in the pictures, but the one we stayed in last year looked good in the pictures. Apparently there is a fantastic one in Peel, but it's to far from the start for me as we wont have any transport over there. Our bikes will be in a van, and the van driver is staying in a Bed and Breakfast!

    Manx 2 Day

I would give the Glen Dhoo campsite a miss. Stayed there last year and it wasn't that special in my opinion. Using a different one this year can't remember the name. Don't know what its like but I will post the details later.
  16. What time does the trial start? I may make the drive accross from Bedfordshire. I take it you can enter on the day.
  17. I rode last year on the clubman route, and I agree this is a fantastic trial and a really enjoyable day out. The sections for me were just right. Hard enough to be challenging, but nothing that I was worried about attempting. Looking forward to this years event. Apart from sleeping in the back of the van the night before!
  18. Being a southerner who rides a quite a lot of trials in the north on the clubman route, I would say that the Lakes 2 day is the hardest one that I have done. If you are unsure, don't enter. That is my advice. It can be quite hard going in between sections as well. MAD4IT you have ridden it 3 times by the way.
  19. You may well wind up being thankful for that. From the Met Office Website: "UK Outlook for Tuesday 8 May 2007 to Thursday 17 May 2007: Much more unsettled weather is signalled for most places for much of this period Rain or showers will affect most areas at times, with probably quite heavy rain at times especially in parts of the north and west up to and including the weekend. However, elsewhere, the rainfall may not be sufficient to make up for the recent very dry conditions. Temperatures mostly near normal and iit will often feel cool in the wind. Indeed it may be cold enough for snow over higher ground in the north and local overnight frost. Strong winds or gales may occur especially in exposed northwest locations. Some brighter spells are still likely between the rain and showers and there are signs that drier weather may return to many parts later." SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I am camping at the Glen evis camp site. Apparently on the foothills of Ben Nevis. Looks very good. I am only there until Tuesday though.
  21. Perfect! I am going up on Sunday and coming home on Tuesday. By the sounds of it this will be the wet part of the week. I hate putting a tent up in the rain!

    Fantic 307

Don't know about any wiring diagrams, but you should be able to get a spark if you have the plug cap on the plug earth it on the barrel and give it a kick over.
