My 09 has play. Greasing all pivot bearings is a good idea. Mine had very little grease applied from the factory.

The clutch mod will completly change the caricter of the clutch. The engagement will be very smooth and predictible no more grabby clutch. Also lower the trans oil level to 425cc. I had considered removing a tooth from the front sprocket before the clutch mod, but after the mod i like the stock gearing just fine. I can often ride many intermediate sections in second gear because the clutch is now easy to use.

I did not have the snagging problem you mentioned, but after i broke the front fender i installed a red 07 fender and aluminum brace.

The ring end gap for my Scorpa sy250 was .0012-.0014. I would think the Beta 250 would be similar.

Fill the transmission with 425cc. Lowering the oil level in the trans will help the clutch to disengage more completly. ATF is fine. I'm sure the Redline is fine too. Maxima works well so does GM Auto trac 2.

Perform the clutch mod thats pinned at the top of the page.
  14. I installed the 32.5 pilot and this added a little more bottom torque. I can now get the air screw out to 1 1/2 turns out and i had to lower the idle a little. I will have to ride it in the mountains to see how this setup works in the sections.

I went to the american beta website and the parts fish said that 00-02 used the same ignition then 03-05 used the same ignition then 06-07 used the same ignition then 08 had its own ignition then im guessing 09 and on have a different part number. Did the 07 run soft like the 06?
  16. You at least need a firmer spring which i think beta now offers. I would also get the matching front spring.

I have a freind who recently aquired an 06 rev3 250. This bike runs a little soft. It has had the clutch side flywheel removed. She said that she had someone test the compression and it was 150psi. what i would like to know is two things. How many psi on a compression test should a fresh 250 make at sea level and at 6000', and is this year engine notorius for soft power, maybe because of the ignition curve? I have a fresh 01 rev3 250 which feels almost twice as powerful and it has the clutch side flywheel still installed.

I'm thinking the floating piston developed a leak and allowed nitrogen past to create an emulshion. I noticed once when i did not get a good bleed after servicing the damper that the damping was faster in both directions.
  20. I think this jetting setup helped in developing more bottom end torque and a noticably quicker spoolup. I nstalled a v-force reed at the same time so im not sure which mod added how much boost but it does start easyer. I'm still getting a little pipe bang with the air screw set at 1 1/4 turns out. I think i'm going to install a 32.5 pilot and see if i cant get the air screw open a little further and get rid of the pipe bang.

I had thoughts similar to yours and decided to run it and it worked fine. I did figure out how to dissasemble it and it did make the bottom end noticably stronger.

I aquired this reed for my rev3 250 and noticed that some of the petals will not sit down against the block. I thought i would try flipping the petals to see if they would close better but i cannot see how to get the petals free without damaging somthing. I tried pushing on what looks to be a gudgin pin but it would not move without excessive force and it seems there is nowhere to lift the outside petal restraint blocks. Anyone know how to remove these petals without damaging them. I have a photo but it dosent look like i can post it.
