Twinshock Prices?

In general people favour the Yamaha and Honda twinshock bikes, as they have bulletproof reliability, ride very well, and have good parts availability. I contrast the Spanish bikes are not as reliable, and some parts for marques other than Bultaco can be difficult/impossible as there is not enough interest in these bikes for anyone in the UK to specialise in them, and provide the excellent spares service available to owners of the Japanese bikes.

I guess you didnt go to the Malvern show then ?

I take it also that you have never heard of - In motion twinshock trials spares, Bill Pye ,Bob Wright , Steve Goode , Martin Matthews etc

Who ALL specialise in not japanese trilas spares.

So Greeves, does that mean my Mk1 247 Cota is worth rebuilding then ? Most people chuckle when I say I'm going to spend some cash on it,but get all excited when I mention building my spare Ty250 up as a Majesty.

If it is the "big drums" Mk1 and you want to sell it, I know at least 12 persons looking for one of those bikes...... some of them even searching in the US to buy one and bring it to Spain.

I haven't much experience of other Spanish bikes but I would say that most Bults,if they are put together properly,are as reliable as anything from the land of the rising sun.

My first trials bike was a 247 Mont in a box of bits but after building it I could not get it to run properly,gave up and bought a 198b.

Here are some facts about what was ridden in our Twinshock Masters event late in 2007. Modern riding rules applied to this trial ie stopping was allowed.

Fantic 240 - 1

1970s Spanish - 6 (OSSA MAR, M125, M159, Cota 348, M199, Highboy frame Sherpa T)

1980s Spanish - 3 (Cota 242, M199B, Cota 349)

1970s Jap - 10 (TY175, TY175, TY175, TY175, TY175, TY175, TY175, TL125 special, TY250, RL250)

1980s Jap - 5 (RS200, TLR250, TLR250, TLR200, 250 Majesty)

1970s bikes - 16

1980s bikes - 9

Spanish bikes - 9

Jap bikes - 15

Italian - 1

To me this indiates that at this modern twinshock trial:

There was a wide range of bike ages represented.

1970s Jap bikes were twice as popular as 1980s Jap bikes.

1970s Spanish bikes were more popular than 1980s Jap bikes.

Yes it is an early one with the large drums - they would do credit to a 500cc road bike.

I didnt realise they had a following,I bought it because I thought it was worth saving,its complete and has matching numbers.Looks like its fairly original too,it has steel fork yokes etc.If anyone is really keen bring em on cos the money could go toward my Pre65 project.

I had several old Spanish bikes back in the day, but certainly wouldnt want to own one today.....................but its all a matter of personal choice, and I dont think its really that helpful to get so worked up about what long defunct twinshock bike is best on these forums.

Well, it seems to me that the only person getting worked up is you as you choose to come on this forum and denounce bikes you admit you have no interest in and a traditional series you have no interest in riding in.... sure is a funny old world
