There's a line for Country on the inquiry form, so it would seem they sell outside the US too. https://www.rebelgears.com/ordercustomsprockets.html

Got a couple more questions as the bike takes shape, the cooling fan or rather the thermostat/sensor any ideas what the resistence readings should be or how long it would need to idle for before the fan kicks in? My sensor was reading 8 MegOhm reducing to 4 MegOhm after about 10 minutes and the water hoses and rad were all hot but no fan , I know the fan works as I have shorted the sensor and it ran fine. The other issue looks like the clutch plates have swelled due to the water in the oil , any ideas what thickness a new friction plate should be and if i could take a grinder/file to them to reduce them somewhat? The bike starts but clutch drag means I cannot change gear when the engine is running so need to rectify this before I can try the Techno out anywhere apart from my back garden , TIA

The needle bearings are exposed on one side only. I did not take note on disassembly. Do the bearings roll on the tappet or the backing plate... Thank you in advance.. Jeff

I had a really good feel for my old (2021) bike with a 51T sprocket on it. Foolishly I left it on when I changed the bike, thinking it would be easy enough to get another one for my new (2023) bike. It's not. I can't find one anywhere. Does anyone one have one to sell, or know where I could get one? 51T preferred but I would go with 50T or 52T too.

Tried that but never got a reply in fact he did not open the message! Facebook Messanger is notorius for not flagging up new messages especially first time contact.

I have since come across a pic of a second ISDT Saracen ridden in the 1972 Welsh 2 Day Trial by Steve Wilson who retired after crashing. The reg letters appear to be GJH but actual number not clear, so probably GHJ 59K or 61K . Does anyone have any other pics of that bike?

Is the telephone number for Jon Bliss (01242 239055) still valid as I have tried phoning him several times on that number but no reply and does not go to voice mail. This thread is 19 years old so he may have changed his number in that time.

Thanks @feetupfun, I didn't know that, and it sounds promising because it explains dry cylinder and plug. I shall try and undo my actions, and will report back. The new carb is a VM26-8074 from Motocarb.

Are there any riders in central Ohio that would welcome a newby into their group? Looking to get back into riding trials again, just wanting someone to ride with and show me the lay of the land. thanks

There's a few possibilities here. Most likely is because you have wound in the idle speed screw, the slide might be too high for the start device to function. If it's a modern carb, the starting device is not a choke. Modern starting devices use the pressure difference across the slide to draw fuel through the cold start circuit and if the slide is too high, not enough pressure difference will be generated while kicking, to draw fuel through. If winding the idle speed screw back out again doesn't solve the problem, narrow the range of possibilities by putting a couple of drops of fuel into the cylinder via the plug hole, then see if it fires.

I need to find a clutch master cylinder for a gasgas txt 280 2001 model. Any hints would be grateful

As trials central is a UK site, I'm assuming you're here ?

Describe the symptoms, there is a huge knowledge base available here, you might be able to do a lot or all the work yourself, as motorcycles go it's not a hard one to learn to work on, almost for certain the original bike purchase included a very good parts and service manual, you need one 👍

skyefarmer started following 1978 TY250 resurrection

A 1978 TY250 was left in a stable of a house I bought. After 20yrs of looking at it, I thought I'd get it going. The job was nearly done, but I fear I've just messed it up. The last step was installing a new carb, after which it started fine (multiple times) and sounded decent but did not have enough revs to tick over when the throttle was released. I was adjusting the Idle Adjust Screw, turning it clockwise, and starting to observe an increase in idle revs, when I realised I'd left the choke on. I turned the choke off, and the engine died. Since then I have not been able to start the bike. Not even close. Suspecting that after many failed starting attempts I had flooded it, I drained the carb and removed the plug. Neither the plug nor the cylinder was wet with fuel. Good spark observed outside the bike. Checked there was fuel to carb. Refilled fuel tank. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them. Thanks.

1974 TY250A - Does the Shedworks Tank/Seat Combo work?
feetupfun replied to onefunride's topic in Yamaha
The tank seat shown on the B&J Racing page is fibreglass and is a Sammy Miller Products tank seat and may be old stock. When you said the A model is lighter than the later ones, do you mean the whole bike or the fuel tank? The CDE models have the lightest rims, being Japanese copies of the lightweight AKRONT trials rims. The A model have lightest swingarm. CDE swingarms have more elaborate gusseting near the pivot. The BCDE flywheel is much heavier than the A model. The BCDE engine covers are lighter than the A model. The lightest tank I've found is a Majesty shape made from very thin aluminium. I bought it from France Trial Classic in about 2008. It dents very easily. I'm not sure if they are still available, but there is/was an aluminium steering stem/axle available. It is a lot lighter than the original. Also the top bolt and slotted nut for the steering axle. There is/was an aluminium swingarm inner bush available. I replaced all the wheel axle spacers with aluminium items. -
1974 TY250A - Does the Shedworks Tank/Seat Combo work?
onefunride replied to onefunride's topic in Yamaha
Feetupfun, thank for the clarification, it shed some light on my confusion. I do have the WES exhaust, and a few other items installed already. I have the forks setup using the InMotion aluminum damper rods and Trials France magical springs. I have an original fuel tank that is in fantastic condition, I am nervous about smashing it up, which sent me down the path of looking for a different fuel tank and possibly a weight saving in the process. The Shedworks tank and seat assembly looks fantastic, but it gets quite pricey to ship to the US. Interestingly, according to the internet the A version was lighter than the later TYs. Possibly a Majestic tank, long fender, and a late model seat with fiberglass pan could be a good option. Something like the attached pics. BJ Racing has a tank seat combination that looks much like the Shedworks, but I think it is all fiberglass and does not have the inner aluminum tank. http://bjracing.com/id121.html hard to tell. -
