Upon restoration I noticed 2 holes (left and right of brass filters) that had some debris in them. Not to sure if these holes must extend all the way into the cock's chamber. What is their purpose & should they be totally penetrable with a thin wire into a chamber? Mine seem plugged. Thanks

I am currently rebuilding a TY 80 and was wondering if anybody can help me with a few queries. First of all can you tell me if the kickstart shaft from a DT, RD or TY 50 would be compatible with it. Next I would like to know what jetting to use as I am going to remove the oil pump to run it on premix as the pump is leaking and I don't know whether it will be reliable enough, and lastly what is the correct amount of oil to put in the forks as I will be changing the seals. I look forward to your replies thanks. No doubt there will be more questions by the tme I have finished.

  10. Ladies and Gents- has anyone recently bought a new rear sprocket for their TY250A - I mostly ride fire roads - bike is still not set up for trials- The sprockets and chain are all worn out-I can start over with either 428 or 520 chain but durability is important to me- I'll be miles and miles from the truck if something goes wrong. But getting back to the question- who is a good supplier in the USA? And part numbers if you have them please!

Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can do me a big favor and provide me with the measurements for stock 1975 spokes, front and rear. I have the original 16" and 14" wheels as well as the original 32 spoke hubs. I do not have any of the original spokes. I ordered aftermarket spokes which measure 137mm and 172mm and cannot make them work after many attempts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, Do you have any opinion regarding available friction plates for TYR clutch, any brand to prefer or to avoid? Ref to the manual thickness 2.9-3.1mm is ok. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did replace the springs some years ago but will test EBC harder, all or just 3 and evaluate pro/con handling/performance. Have removed worn marks on the basket as well... Last week some long muddy sections required full thottle 2 gear speed from standing still... The improved throttle responce/engine performance now move the focus on clutch/grip performance 2-> gear. …

I have a couple of TY 250 ( 2A and 1B ) and I am pretty sure that I could do better with the air intake. I run Mikuni round slide ( std VM 26mm ) with the exhaust is clean on my rider and a KT250 motocross silencer will be install on my project. I finaly found the correct jetting on the Mikuni VM, now low end and midrange torque are a lot better than with the small 26mm Mkuni of the B model and the poor KT carb from the A model, and throttle response is quick and predictable. But, I think that the air flow is not as good as it could be, so I am thinking changing the standard air filter system. Availability is not so great in Quebec and I don't want to order 265 thousand …

Just a quick one, (ooh err missus) does anyone know if bushes are the same for 175 and 250 twin shock, need some today and my local dealer is showing stock of 250 but not 175 bushes. Found out now (cos some I had on order have just arrived) that they are the same so if you want some from (i.e Jk Hirst) then you can order 250 ts bushes for 175 and vice versa.

Has anyone used KT250 forks on a TY? If so, pros and cons? Did you use a KT or TY wheel? If using a TY wheel, how did you mount the brake arm? Possible scenario is KT250 forks used on a TY175 to have larger/stiffer 34mm front end to get rid of the flex with the small 28mm(?) 175 fork. I haven't been able to source a TY250 set and came across a set from a KT. I was also wondering how the leading axle from the KT would work. Hoping someone has tried this over the last 50 years.
