As im modifying my 175 with 350 mono stuff i needed to go up to a 520 chain but my counter shaft sprocket has been a PITA to get right... so here it goes. Dear future Biff, Hows it going? So today I had the left side cover off and wondered if the points needed any attention- It had been a couple of months since I attempted to set them up, and I re-read the instructions in my 75 shop manual again just to refresh my memory. But laying on the garage floor trying to peek into a small hole in the flywheel is not much fun, nor is trying to guess at the timing. Probably the worst part is that the slot in the points plate is wider than the securing screw by about 1mm. So another general question- #2 I have OKO 26mm on my TY 250 A and still trying to get the best operation out of it. It starts on about the 5th kick when cold, but when hot you need to open the throttle to maybe 1/3rd to get it to catch. There is no longer any kick back - but that is mostly due to the new Rex's ignition. But my concern now is that if you are just running on flat ground, the engine will fire every other revolution. This is annoying because of the vibration that is set up while this is going on. What do you guys think? Ever needed one on the trail? What kind of a problem did you have with the chain to begin with? I can't see even owning one for the shop much less taking it on the trail. Opinions/ experiences - please explain in detail.

Guys- This is not really specific to the TY 250, but hopefully nobody will kick me off of here for asking a non- trials question? I started exploring the riding areas around here and realized very soon that I had no safety gear that would help anything if I (fill in the blank!) I went riding and the area was remote and getting remoter as each mile went by. But the road was just a bit boring for me and I took off on a path maybe 4 ft wide. It went on for miles and was slowly climbing the side of a 5000 foot mountain, so it got rockier and steeper as it progressed. l long time back I read on here that some guys were cutting away part of the left side chain cover to prevent the possibility of the chain getting jammed between the front sprocket and the cases. Has anyone done this mod to the TY 250 A and exactly where is the correct place to cut? Pics please if you can!

I need to order a socket to pull my front sprocket and can't seem to find what size the lock nut is... anyone know what size I need? Thanks!

Guys- I think the TY 250 can run either a #428 chain or a #520 chain. Are there any advantages one way or the other? favorite? and why? Best sources? Right now I mostly ride single track and fire roads with a stock 53 tooth on the rear and 12 in the front, but my 53 is about worn out and the chain is about ready to go with it too, so I'm wondering where I can find replacements for all 3 parts if possible. My instinct tells me to stay with steel for the rear sprocket for longevity if nothing else. Any comments are much appreciated!

Recently brought a ty 250 mono the silencer seems ok but can not find anything about them any where?

Ladies and Gents- has anyone recently bought a new rear sprocket for their TY250A - I mostly ride fire roads - bike is still not set up for trials- The sprockets and chain are all worn out-I can start over with either 428 or 520 chain but durability is important to me- I'll be miles and miles from the truck if something goes wrong. But getting back to the question- who is a good supplier in the USA? And part numbers if you have them please!

I have what I believe is a Majesty frame but wondered if anyone could verify the format to confirm what it is. The number is 81 11 01 B. The frame appears to have originally been painted yellow. I am assuming it’s a Godden version. Any help appreciated

Does anyone know which model and years of the 250 had the speedo on the left fork leg? I think it looks cool and my bike didn’t come with it but it has the drive with a plastic blank where the cable goes. It looks like some 1974 models did have it judging by photos. If I ever get my engine finished I’d like to have that feature

Hello all, I am a recent new member of this website and have been reading about the TY250 in particular since I bought a 1974 version in very sad condition. It was seized solid in the top end and sat for a few decades with the plug missing. It took every trick I knew to get the cylinder off and when l cleaned up the crankcase I found three or four of the stuffers had come free from the crank. I split the engine cases a few days ago to replace the mains and now I have a chance to replace those plugs. My question is, is it necessary to replace them? Can I use wine bottle corks with a few coats of varnish? Where do I even get these things? Does any of you even know what I’m …

Probably well covered elsewhere but any quick recommendations for what tyres (tubed) I should put on my 1976 TY175 without breaking the bank? It’s got MT43s which are in good condition but quite hard (so I guess a bit old - on before I bought it) and have zero grip in anything slippery. I don’t want to spend too much as only ride it once a month up/down the drive and then maybe two or three times a year in easy comps. Thanks for any advice.

Here we go again? What are your thoughts about mounting a tubeless Dunlop 803GP T tire on the rear (tube type) (twinshock DID rim??) When I ordered it- the web page said it was "tube type" but when it arrived, the words "tubeless" were moulded into the sidewall rubber. Hi All, I have been picking up useful information from the forum for years but this is my first post. I bought a rough looking bike on Ebay a few years ago knowing that there was a majesty under all the alterations and rust. I took the head of to check if the bike was a 250 or a 320, the bore measurement was 70mm so i assumed that it was a 250. On further investigation the left side crankcase was broken so i managed to find a new replacement on Ebay. Yesterday was the first time i have been able to put the old and new crankcases together, and i noticed the opening on the old case for the cylinder sleeve is larger than the new case.
