Hi All Any pointers on the following problem greatly appreciated: I can start my TY and it'll run for a few seconds and then it kind of "fluffs out" (probably not a correct technical term). It'll start again after a few kicks and do the same again. Using or not using the choke seems to make no difference. Revving or not revving seems to make no difference. It still conks out after a few seconds. Thanks in advance for any help. Ian

Anyone here know which front brake plate is used when converting the front brake on a TY250 mono to use an external arm as opposed to the enclosed one. I have one but it has been repaired and just need to sort a new plate. It is a Yamaha plate and has magnesium in raised letters on it. Thanks in advance.

The tidy up continues on my TY175. The male thread on the fuel cap is stripped. The female thread on the tank is fine. Anyone know of a shop selling replacement caps? Original or looking similar is fine? Cheers Ian

Hi all, I haven't really ridden for 20 or so years (I used to do heaps of trail bike riding 20+ years ago on my old trail bike, usually more trials (rough) type trail riding rather than enduro (fast) type trail riding) and looking at buying a TY175 or TY250 (or maybe other twin shocker, KT250, RL250 etc) to ride casual trials/comp twinshock trials but would like to also to poke around doing some general trail riding exploring etc. My feeling is that the 175 would make a better competitive trials bike but the 250 would be better as a combination trials and trail bike. What about the RL250? What are your thoughts? If its relevant I'm about 5 foot 7 and 78 kgs.

Hello I wonder if anyone can shed any light on my latest (and hopefully last) TY problem. The front brake was very poor and had run out of adjustment - moving the brake arm around the splined shaft didn't work either. I've now fitted a new genuine Yamaha cable, new (quality) shoes and new lever/perch of the type designed to lighten the clutch. What i've ended up with is a brake that i can adjust to the point just before the shoes make contact with the drum, then as i squeeze the lever to the bars it feels increasingly spongey until fully home. At this point i can still push the bike forward without it locking the front wheel !! I did notice a bit of scoring inside th…

Which shocks are folks here using on Majesty 250s ? I have converted to TY mono forks and am looking for some advice on shocks. Bearing in mind I will be riding the clubman route and never expect to be bringing any trophies home. Betors, NJB's or spend a few quid more??? Thanks in advance. PS hearing conflicting stories about Falcon shocks.

In the process of converting my TY175 from autolube to premix I have had differing advice on pre mix ratio. Suggestions ranging from 40:1 to 70:1. It will be used in twin shock trials so mostly slow speed work in 1st and 2nd gear. I will run it on a synthetic oil (Castrol TT). I would like to know what ratio others have used and for how long? I'd like to avoid it blowing up but also would like to avoid it oiling up. Any advice/opinion/debate etc. greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Hi Gang. I have had my 1993 TY250 Pinky for about 2 years. I have never trialled before, and am just learning the basics. As I get better, I have started to find things that could be improved on the bike. The main thing is that it has always been slow to return to a normal idle after the throttle is opened. For an idea, if i blip the throttle for about 1/2 a second, the engine takes about 4 seconds to get back to idle. Is this normal? I would prefer a quicker response and return, to allow me to use the engine braking instead of the rear brake. I have tried to tweak the carb screws, but always seem to end up with a high idle speed or stalling! Also, I don't wantto en…
