Would a late Montesa cota 123 be under powered for a 13 1/2st rider?

I was riding my TLR 200 over a practice stage today for about an hour and everything was running fine as normal - although at the beginning of my ride the clutch felt to be slightly slipping and so I backed off the cable adjustment and all was good. Eventually I stopped for a rest - maybe 10 minutes and when I went back she started first kick as usual but a terrible rattle coming from the clutch side - sounding like around the starter area but not sure. I immediately switched off and trailered the bike home and removed the clutch cover - this is what I found however I can't see where the problems is. Hello, does anyone know of a machine shop locally to Bristol or that can deal with the job or someone by post, to machine out standard top yoke bar clamps to the fat bar size, I think standards are 22mm (7/8")are and the fat bars comes in at 28.6mm (1 1/8") Prefer to go by recommendation rather than hunting around and taking pot luck!! thanks Owen

I've recently bought an unused SM Highboy TY175 frame kit. I am in the process of puting it together to ride. I have have never seen another one and am trying to learn all I can about it. The frame looks remarkably similar or identical to a Whitehawk TY175, but it has a fibreglass one-piece SM seat/tank unit rather than the Whitehawk setup. Can anyone give me some leads or info about this bike? All I have heard so far is that they have a tendency to crack the front frame tubes and that the frame was probably made by Dave Cane. Ive been searching for ages for spares like mudguards and any info etc for my jcm I dont even know what model it is there is nothing on the web. Its a 240 or 250 monoshock with drums front and rear. Its currently in bits but i would like to restore it to original if possible. Id be gratefull for any help Thanks!

I keep blowing out headlight and taillight. I put a regulator in but no help. I am getting very strange readings from the ac meter. I am actually getting readings off the engine and frame of the motorcycle of 12v to 19 volts and it is jumping around like crazy between that voltage. I unpluged the regulator from the motorcycle but it was still bolted to it and i am getting voltage comming out of the regulator unplugged BECASUE there is voltage running through the frame. Anyone have any idea why there would be current running thought the engine and frame? I even tested the ground wire comming out of the headlight and it has 12v to 19 v comming out of it (engine running…

Hi I have a TLR 200 that I think is a 1982 model - engine number is MD09E-1005889 - that is the only identifying number I can find on the bike. I need to replace the cam chain however the parts manual I have says that the TLR200D uses a different part number to the 200E - are they backwards compatible coz I don't know which model I have and 2 hours on google has taught me nothing

Looking to get a twinshock but no real idea about what's hot and what's not ? There is a couple of cleans bikes in the shape of a 348 montesa cota and a ty 250 yam. Is one better than the other, would you recommend one over the other ??

My Cota 247 has had quite a few bar bending spills - and now even a light fall results in a bend so I I think they are past their use by date. Can I get some suggestions on replacements. I do like the original wide bars they are approx 820 mm (32 inches) and I would prefer something without the cross bar support so as to keep the original look.

Hi all, getting all a bit muddled. Looking to get into trials after many year being a road biker. Started off thinking twinshock then something newer, after seeing what you get for your money!!! After going to a local trial near Ipswich i am thinking twinshock. I have been getting advice here and there. My dilema which is a common one is which bike! Are they worth the buying ? Sold my bike the other day so have cash burning a hole and fancy something different. Couple on ebay at the mo and look like they've been well restored. What problems will/would I encounter if I do buy one ? Thanks in advance.

This is a '78 (I think) 247 and the forks seized. I got the first one apart, but it wasn't easy, and some stuff dropped out...like a rubber seal and a snap ring! Maybe if I'm really careful, I can get the other one apart and be sure how to put them both back together. Also...I know that there are some aluminum bits that bind. Could someone tell me what needs to be done to get these working smoothly? And if someone could lead me to a parts diagram... Thanks!

just curious, what is the most difficult line for twinshock....... maybe I'm getting old, but many moons ago I seem to recall expert or master class was quite a challenge to ride, I love riding vintage class but sometimes I wish for nastier sections. No I don't have the money for a modern bike, however the modern sections are a little much to splater on old school bikes(weight) anyone else feel this way? I have done most of the mods I can (i.e. drilled spokes for lightness).....unless someone wants to donate a "peril kt250 frame. not too sincerly yours dgraf

I have been using my Fantic 240 to ride modern events on either the expert or inter route but this weekend seem to have blown the seals on both shocks. It currently has some betor experts on but I was wondering if spending more on some replacements (magicals/maxtons) they will be more likely to stand up to the abuse of bigger steps and drops than say some rockshocks? I know the rockshocks are re-buildable but in the long run do you think the higher end shocks will pay off in both strength and performance? All opinions welcome!

Hi, sorry if this subject's been covered before but can anyone advise me on the correct way to preload the shocks on a twinshocker? I have a nice new pair of Betor shocks which have preload adjusting rings but I'm only guessing at the amount of preload I use so the shocks may not be working as well as they might. Also how do you determine the shock spring rate Is this just down to feel and experience? I'm assuming if the springs are to soft it will bottom out easily, to hard and it will kick on small stuff. Thanks in advance.
