Looking through an Italian bike mag from 1974 that someone had given me, found an advert for CZ. Looks as though they actually produced a trials bike!!!! Never even knew one existed......anyone ever seen one?????? Martin

My mate Tim just acquired a Dalesman and we have started on the restoration/rebuild process. There is no frame number but the log book shows the frame number as the engine number but with a '1)' in front and also that it was registered in March '69 by Terry Silvesters in Holmfirth. The story goes that they sold it to their sponsored rider who may or may not be a Mr Anthony, the second owner. Howdo Guys. Lady luck was with me twice last week. After a few months of deciding what I was going to do with my pair of Dalesmans I got stuck in. One is going to be restored to original the other is going to get developed. I had a Dalesman when a kid for schoolboy scrambling and thought it was great, in later life and now into twinshock trialling everyone I speak to says they weren't very good for trialing, engine being to peaky with no bottom end at all. So I'm on a mission to make one work at trials. Hi there just bought a "Wassell" rolling chassis but seems more like a Dalesman.It has a very close almost parallel duplex frame with rails under the engine.It has Puch wheels.Looks like MP forks (with bolt-on 'ears' for lockstops). I have a Puch M125 engine for it. My questions are: What's the difference between a Wassell and a Dalesman? Dalesman Trials bike - yet another request for information ....... Trying to restore my Sachs engined Dalesman trials bike (the late model so from around 1971 onwards) - but the stand is missing and the original frame fixing lug has been ground off. Would anyone out there have this same model of bike and if so, I would be really grateful if you could send me details of the stand - any dimensions, photo, where it should attach, etc Many thanks.

I made the below post a couple weeks ago and didn't get any replies. So, perhaps someone could chime-in on this follow-on question I have. A friend of mine rode Dalesman trials bikes (with PUCH motor) back in the early 1970s. He told me all three of his bikes he had (with the PUCH) all "lost" first gear and that it is nearly impossible/very difficult to fix; I assume what's happening is that the first gear teeth break off the spline. He tells me this is a very common problem with the PUCH 125cc motors in the trials bikes. Besides not riding the bike, does anyone have a suggestion that could reduce the chances from this happening? I have a follow up question in my search for new rear shocks for vintage trials competitions. What does "Damping" mean and what is the actual different in riding with "standard damping" or with "light/ super light damping"? Thanks.

Have just seen brief mention of a Dartmoor 2 day trial which apparently runs in September. Does anyone have any further info? Would like to know if it's open to twinshocks, if it's relatively easy or severe, if it's all off-road or partly on-road (i.e. do bikes have to be road legal) and, if possible, the contact details of the Secretary of Meeting. Has anybody on here had to date a Seeley for registration purposes. If I want to date a Yamaha I know to write to Yamaha and obtain a letter. But who sorts it out to register a Seeley. Luckily my Seeley is registered, I am enquiring for a mate who wants to register his bike.With the bike being made in such a small number I wonder who has the relevant info. Thanks in advance. PS What after market shocks do you find work well on a Seeley. Thanks

I did ask this before but i think it got lost at the back of another post When I go for a 'day light' MOT on my 250T will they make allowances for cable brakes? I can't compete with disc type brake performance

Is it useful to mount a Decompressor to my Montesa Cota? In your opinion, what kind of advantages I'll get? Any problems? FRANCE TRIAL has Decompressor kits (49,80e).

Well I thought it was destiny... a tidy 1975 Ossa 250 MAR turning up for sale in my village.... I couldn't not buy it...And I still don't regret it. However, my missus now has other opinions and it also appears destiny has other things in mind when it comes to me having middle aged ideas about off road fun. Hi All might be one for big J looking for information and photo's of the late 60's Diamond trials bike,the only information i have found to date is in Mr Morleys british two stroke book and there is no photo's I have aquired a frame which i was told was a Dalesman which i don't think it is,on rubbing back the paint work the frame looks to have been a pale blue but the rear chain is adjusted by snail cams on the swinging arm pivot it has prop stand mtg bracket on the R/H side the frame is also twin down tube forming a cradle under the engine,engine mounting's look to be for a sachs engine.It looks at first glance like a rickman but they were nickle plated or possi…
