  1. Hello guys, I bought a few weeks ago a Kawasaki KT250 from 1976 with 75 miles on it ! While almost new, there are of course a few issues mainly due to not being used. The bike now runs very good. There was a dead spot right over idle when cruising in low gear and opening the throttle. A little delay of a second or so. I opened the carb, reset the needle to factory setting, installed a new float valve and a new bowl gasket. That did it as far as the one second hiccup. BUT, just as when I bought it, as the bike seats on its sidestand overnight, gas comes sipping out between the bowl and the carb body itself. As I put some premixed gas in the tank as I was sorting out the…

Does anyone have an original rear axle spacer for a '75 MAR they could measure for me, or know where I can get one? My bike has a Miller flat sprocket conversion but I want to return it to the original dished sprocket so will need to find, or get made, the spacer to fit. Mick Annick

Is it useful to mount a Decompressor to my Montesa Cota? In your opinion, what kind of advantages I'll get? Any problems? FRANCE TRIAL has Decompressor kits (49,80e).

Hi Got an old 247 for a song the other day ($20 Australian) except the motor had seized. Started pulling things down to get to the problem and found that the twit I bought it from must have gone into deep water, filled the crankcase with the stuff and just left it after it would not start. There is rust in the crankcase chamber and have managed to get the motor turning albeit tightly. I know the proper thing to do is to split the cases, replace bearings etc etc. but before I do that can anyone suggest how I might be able to flush all the rubbish out and getting it turning a bit lighter? If I can do this I will try to start it and see what happens. Any help much appre…

I have trawled the archive, but not found quite what I need. I need to replace the tubed tyres on my Ossa MAR, but need something properly road legal. From reading the other threads it seems like Michelin are the only option, though not their radial. I've looked on the Michelin website though they don't list this one, so which should I be buying? Hi folks, There will be another ahrma Trials at Unadilla's MX Rewind this year. June 5th. I am in need of checkers. If you are available, or have friends who can help, please let me know with a PM. The Trials is right after the CC race. Several people I know do both the CC race and the Trials, so there's time between events to make your way over. There will also be at least 1st place trophies for novice, intermediate and expert classes, for post 1979 air-cooled Trials bikes with drum brakes and twin shocks, even though this is a non points ahrma class. Feel free to ask me any questions about the event. And please help out if you can.

Inspired by the photos of Big John's "works" Honda that were posted recently, I was wondering if anyone had any full works bikes or one off prototypes that never made it to mass production? To kick off...here's some photo's from Italian engineer Marco Mantovani. Back in 1984, Marco was asked by SWM to develop mono system for there 350 Jumbo. It was never produced, as the factory went bankrupt shortly afterwards. The twin disc set up was a few years ahead of its time when compared to say a Fantic 303 of 1987 vintage. Anyone else got anything interesting in the corner of their garage? Martin

I had a problem getting my ossa to start a while ago then someone on here gave me the right plug type for the bike.I fitted a new plug and it started first kick. However I dragged it out to try and free the clutch for the nostalgia trial, rode it for a little and now I cant get the bloody thing started again. I have a feeling its the plug again as the spark is now white instead of blue. Any body know what could be causing this. Cheers Andy

Does anyone know if the Montesa 242 cases are shared with any other Montesa model? If I want to get this bike going some day I will need to find a set. My cases have been "customized" to be nice. The bike wasn't running when I got it. I took the clutch cover off to fix the shifter spring and found the new bolts that don't belong. Thanks, Scott

I noticed excessive movement in the swing arm on my Cota 247 and I find that the pivot mounting holes on the frame itself have worn and are allowing the movement. Can anyone suggest an easy fix and failing that give me the hard fix options.

In your view, what would you say is the better twin-shock bike to compete on as in :- "a competitive bike", and secondly "for spare parts availability". Gaff.

My Montesa Cota 348 (1978) has allways worked fine without any problems until yesterday but now there's something wrong with the intake. The carb is Amal 2627, and I haven't done any changes to the standard jets and settings. The engine works poorly with low rpm's and I can't find good idling with low enough rpm's. I can set the throttle top screw so that the engine revolution at idling is high but can't get my target speed for idling. The engine will stop when I lower the rpm's. Ofcourse I've tried to turn the air screw left and right but without succes. When I turn the throttle grip at no-load operation the engine revolution increases normally but when turning the gr…
