Pre-65 Bikes

  1. Started by greeves,

Hi: I pretend to race with this bike in the next Scottish Pre-65, last year I burned the ignition where beaking down is a nightmare; Meall Na Cruaidhe, fortunately it has now a good ignition fixed. I have the next the next troubles with it; 1.- Rear mudguard, I can not find an alloy rear mudguard for this bike, they are either short, too wide or too narrow. This one is built out of 2 plastic bultaco mudguards, but would like to put something more original. Maybe Spain is not the place to look for this mudguard. 2.- Is there any webb where to buy sprockets for it?? It is slightly "short" for me. 3.- Something apparently easy, as making the fork soft in the beginning and…

I have a 250 DMW Trials originally owned and registered by Comerfords in the Portsmouth Rd Thames Ditton. I believe it was their entry into the Scottish in 1962 or possibly 1963. I have an address for the 2nd owner in Scotland from memory it is in Aberdeen. I bought the bike from another Southend and District MC Club member in the Sixties and now want to get it back into original condition and also would like to trace any information of its part in the SSDT. especially any photographs of the bike at the event. I am a bit out of the way here out in Germany so if there is anyone that can either suggest or give information it would be well received. Many thanks George H…

Anyone got an up to date e-mail address for Duncan Mcdonald? This one armacdesign AT hotmail.com does not seem to exist any more.

  11. Started by superhondaman,

Rode the cub for only the 2nd time today but one of the main problems is the tyre to chain clearance, The s/arm has been lengthend & widened on the right but the left side is standard the clearance is very tight and i have extended the c/gaurd the stop mud being picked up on the chain and that worked but mud is getting between the c/guard and tyre and forceing it over to rub against the chain. I know you can space the engine over 5/6mm to get the chain away from the tyre or is it better to get another s/arm? (miller or Mcdonald) or get mine alterd more? Interested to hear how you guys have got round this problem. This is Midlands mud! dont suppose up north its such a …

  15. Started by bantworm,

Hi. Does anyone have a detailed dimensioned diagram for the building of a silencer box for a Bantam B175 trials, using a standard large bore high level front pipe. I have seen a number of nice examples on classic trials websites, but would appreciate help, as I cant find much in the way of trials mods available for the humble Bantam. I would also appreciate a few pointers regarding gearing for the B175 box. Managed to find an 11t front final drive sprocket and a 58t rear but I have heard that it is a good idea to swap 2nd and 3rd gears round before re-assembly of the box takes place. Its all a tad confusing and I'd like to sort the engine next. Hope someone can assist wit…

Ok so I am ventureing into a world of desicration. My father has 3 full greeves. 2 Anglian's which we both ride in AHRMA trials. Beautiful bikes and won't be touched. 1 challenger which is a good runner. Then we have bike X. Just a frame with earls forks, 19" rear and 21" front. We both think that it is a challenger frame. Dad has had this think sitting in the trophy room looking haggered for a while. A different seat was put on at one time and bungs were welded to the frame. We got to talking and he asked what i wanted to christmas. I suggested that frame. He thinks that i am nuts but knew that i was his son so i think he is agreeing. I have a donar hond…

  19. Started by alt,

I have in my possesion a C15 that I bought in bits (and I mean bits!).I obtained it from an ex BSA employee. The bike had passed through the hands of a number BSA employees before him.The chap I bought it off trialed it in the early to mid sixties. However,he used to ride it to work and whilst doing so had an altercation with a car which resulted in,amongst other things,a bent frame. This of course required a strip down for repairs and while the engine was out it was completely dismantled,Alpha Bearings did the crank in readiness for the rebuild. The frame repair didn't go well however and because of this he lost interest and never rebuilt the motor.Basically the bike stayed …
