  1. Has anyone any tips on how to refit the Tiger Cub Gear Selector Quadrant pin that goes through the Quadrant and then into the gear selector shaft, which is then secured with a split pin. I have tried for ages to alighn the pin but for some reason it wont go back through. thanks to all.

Hi, I have just finished building my Armac Cub. During running it in I noticed I had a small oil leak from the inner gearbox case. I removed the outer and inner RH cases to re seal it and reassembled everything only to find I couldn't move the kick start or select more than 2 gears. I have now removed the covers again and realized I hadn't put the lobe on the kick start shaft at 6 o'clock which would explain why that was jammed! Before I put the side back on (for the 3rd time!), can someone just clarify what I need to do with the selector plate, selector forks, indexers and gear clusters. I understand the need to position the selector fork guides i…

I see that some of you have fitted 16T Primary duplex sprocket. How does this compare to the standard 19T. I was going to leave my standard primary at 19T and fit the following 13t Gearbox 64t Rear sprocket 420 chain. What do you think.

Just a few questions:-) I need to buy a tap and die to clean up the cylinder head studs and nuts. What size thread is it ?(Square barrel and head if it makes a difference). It looks 5/16" but not BSF Do the oil feed holes in the Rocker Spindles have to face any particular direction? The rocker spindles seem to go into the head further than my old oval head. Is this normal? The lube holes are visible on the feed end of the spindles. How many thrust washers are there on each rocker spindle? I have 1 either end of the shaft but not between the spring washer and the head but the Haynes Manual says 3. What are the inlet and exhaust valve clearances for an R cam? I…

Afternoon All. So my Cub is all together and a runner. Warmed up and tickover set. Starts lovely on the choke from cold and also when warm. However I’ve got a jetting issue. Here are the symptoms - when I open the throttle gently it runs ok but when I snap the throttle open it muffs badly or stalls. - I think it’s therefore when it comes onto the main jet? - after running it for a bit a shiny new pipe is now a gold colour, so getting hot. Im now about to spend hours researching on the internet, but is someone can point me in the right direction or a good how-to link that would be great

I have just finished building my dream Armac Cub but am slightly frustrated at not being able to stop a minor oil leak from the gearbox side. I cured the clutch side by fitting a belt drive primary and diaphragm clutch I had a spare gearbox cover, a lathe and a mill so decided to try the Armac conversion and do away with the outer cover, however, I only have a photo to work from. I don't have access to ally welding equipment so am trying to avoid welding if possible. I have machined the flanges off the edges of the side cover, modified the case for a clutch lightener (I'll be using my original Armac clutch lightener on the bike), machined the selector ho…

After 18 months, I finally fired up the Cub today. This is the 1st bike engine I have assembled and although pleased to hear it run, was slightly dissapointed at the amount of smoke and various oil leaks that need sorting. I have the following questions: How long does the engine need to run before it stops smoking? Mine has run for about 5 minutes which I thought would be enough to clear any assembly oil but it still smokes! The barrel had a good bore (hone marks still evident) and I fitted a new piston and rings during the rebuild. Is there meant to be a small quantity of oil seeping into the RH (Side point side) case? There is a vent hole near the bottom. My eng…

  14. Started by brucey,

I continue to be plagued by oil leaks on both my Armac Cub and my old 'bitza' Cub. Most of the oil seems to leak around the rocker covers and push rod tube. Both bikes have had various mods done to the breather system. My Armac Cub has a 230cc conversion and modern piston but I now thinking about fitting that to my old Cub and fitting a Max Heys 250cc barrel conversion to the Armac which I believe uses a modified oil return. I'm aware this mod returns the oil from the rocker area down the barrel studs rather than down the 2 small holes in the top of the barrel. I'm wondering if will help with my problem as I think this area is flooding with my current set up.…

Jeezzzzzz it’s a steep learning curve with these things. Ok folks, current issue is what, is the gearing of choice for trials. This Cub is said to have a Serco gearbox in it according to paperwork history that came with the bike. That could be BS, but there is a receipt from Serco for other work done. How would you identify a gear selection of theirs.? The duplex Drive is a 16 tooth, the high gear a 27, it had believe it or not a 9 tooth front sprocket that had been welded on and a 46 rear. Now from the research I’ve done it appears that 13 or 14 is what’s used on the front. But would a Serco gearbox have completely different number of gear teeth to an orig…

Hi , I hope some of you Tiger Cub Guru`s can help here. From running on idle, when asking for that initial burst of power, my friends Cub just hesitates, & has a serious flat spot. He stripped the carb to find out what jets were in there ; the carb is a amal 622 needle jet 106 main jet 100 slide cutaway 3 needle has no numbers but has two small rings round the top if that means anything Has anyone any idea`s or experience of this problem?

O.k. I fitted the earlier 'R' Cam to my late engine, no problem. Replaced the primary drive chain and it now runs smooth and quiet. Made some parts to allow me to run the bike without the right hand outer cover on. This would allow me to spot any oil leaks from the gear lever shaft and outer cam bush. I also replaced the push rod tube top and bottom gaskets with new items. All is well apart from oil spewing out of the top of the push rod tube around the gasket. (see photo). I tried the thicker one when I assembled engine (without the push rods fitted) but it seemed to be holding the head off the barrel. I put a smear of sealant around the push rod …
