Can someone help please how do you remove the gearbox sprocket on a tiger cub. Sounds simple. Have removed clutch casing, duplex chain and sprockets and now cannot see a method apart from removing the gearbox from kickstart side. I believe that there is a mod to the clutch side crancase casing to make this easier, has anyone got this ?. bike is later engine with distributor. thanks in advance.

  5. I’ve recently purchased a 1965 Tiger Cub. It’s been bored to 220cc. The previous owner has fitted a new Amal Premier carb 622 /301. 103 needle jet. 130 main. 19 pilot jet ( 2 rings on the jet ). slide 622 / 3.5 no numbers on the needle but two rings on the top, set at position 3 ( lowest ). The bike starts ok, ticks over fine but at a trial on Sunday it displayed all the features of fuel starvation mid section. In two sections she just stopped and wouldn’t start until I depressed the carb plunger as if starting from cold. Then fired into life. Strangely she was fine between sections, no hint of starvation. Baffled to say t…

Hello All – Hoping to sort a rich running 1961 Triumph Tiger Cub Trials bike fitted with a large valve head (E4102) and Amal 622/300 MK1 concentric carb. The main jet is a 140. Does anyone run a similar setup? What jets are you using? Thanks in advance. Moray

  7. I continue to have problems with the Cub I built from all my spare parts for my Son to ride. It has a habit of leaking the contents of the Sammy Miller type top tube oil tank onto his shed floor!. The first time this happened I replaced the steel balls in the later type oil pump for a plastic ball and spring upgrade kit from UPB. But after sitting in his shed for a few months, it just did it again. I drained the remaining oil from the engine sump and got about 250 to 300 ml out. The total capacity is around 750 to 800 ml with the external oil filter and oil tank filled. I did notice the jubilee clip on the oil feed pipe to the bottom of the engine wa…

  9. Hi All - I’ve recently purchased a Triumph Tiger Cub. It rides great and starts first time. Ticks over and accelerates well but its running rich and appears to be burning oil. Please you recommend anyone that will check the bike for me? I’m keen to get it sorted. It’s a keeper. Based in NW England. Thanks in advance. Moray

  12. Good morning all. Just waiting for the last few bits to arrive to rebuild the Cub engine. Just going through all the parts and found these four half washers in amongst the gearbox parts. Ive searched this site for an answer before posting to avoid duplicity , as I’m sure I’m not the first to ask this question, “ where do these go” ?, but was unable to find a post covering this. I have two approved Triumph manuals that Ive scoured but cannot find these half washers in any of the gearbox exploded views. Have I got them mixed up and they fit somewhere else? If someone could send me an image ideally I would appreciate it very much. Thanks everyon…

I've started riding a Tiger cub, and I'm wondering what differance's there is in the Tiger Cub motors. What is the time frame of the "round" barrel and "square" barrel engines? Is there a differance in the cylinder heads? Other differances in the motors? Thanks Fred

Hi guys, i'm fast reaching a point where i need to decided what to do next on my rebuild. I've got the primary chain on but not the clutch plates etc. I haven't fitted the cylinder yet so opted to fit the pvl ignition i brought from sammy miller products a year ago. I've brought a case that serco have machined so my pillars are in place. ive had a look in the bag that the pvl kit was sent in and i have a back plate, large washer, plug cap, a rotor and coil type thing (?). I also have various instructions that refer to a 'large diameter alloy spacer' and '1/4'' bore spacers'? I have none of the latter items but on reference to SM Products parts list they are shown in …

Hi I've just purchased off a friend a TR20 with matching frame and engine nos, I've been told it could be a works bike as it only has a 3 numbers after the TR20 which is unusual. According to the story they began the production run on the TR20 110 and the first 15 were works riders and the one I've got falls within these numbers, but again I'm not sure it's just hear say as is it could have belonged to Roy Peplow??Any help or could you point me in the right direction. We also have lots of reg numbers and wonder if one could belong to this bike. Thanks Paul
