Hope someone can help with this. I was visiting a customer the other day and saw a photo showing someone holding the SSDT trophy. Asked the question and found that it was the chap's father, George C. Wheeler. He won the event sometime in the 1930s but the son doesn't know exactly when, how many times or on what machine. Any help (or additional information) gratefully received. Nick

Dougie Lampkin - Gas Gas signalled his intent to take a record breaking sixth win as he took over the lead of the 2011 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) as the centenary event reached the halfway stage. Thirty-five year old Dougie from Silsden, West Yorkshire dropped one mark in today's thirty sections to move to the head of the standings, as Tuesday's leader Michael Brown - Gas Gas endured his worst day thus far and fell back to fifth place overall. A soft five at the last section at Annatt cost Brown dearly as he dropped six marks on day three. Things could not be tighter at the top, with Lampkin only having a slim advantage over James Dabill - Beta who rode himself back…

With the 2010 Scottish literally just days away, I've made a couple of changes to the TC forums. Firstly, I've split the normal SSDT forum out from the General forums and given it it's own category up top and more prominent for the duration of the Trial. Secondly, and this is pretty cool (if you're a geek like me ) you'll notice a seperate forum called "SSDT News Feed". We now have a little software "robot" watching the SSDT website. Whenever the organisers post an update to the SSDT website a new Topic will be created in the SSDT News Feed Forum with a summary of that update and a link that will take you to the full article on the SSDT site. Users will be able to pos…

I am considering my first SSDT in 2013 (although more likely to be 2014). Just wondering how 'legal' myself and my bike need to be, I know I'll have to take my bike test however I'm not sure what insurance etc would be required. Also, how much would I expect the week to cost including entry etc?

Friday from a spectators point of view is, in my opinion, the best day of the SSDT. It's a "must-do" in my book. The majority of sections are pretty close to the road and you get the awesome drive round Moidart where the views are absolutely stunning. Meandering round this year, I stopped off and took some shots I've stitched together to give some idea of what it's like out there. It doesn't really do it justice, but if you've never been, take a look at this panorama. (1.3MB so dial-up users beware).

Anybody got video of me being twatted by the bike that flipped upside down? I'd really love to see what the hell went on as I was looking at the screen on the camera at the time and didn't even realise anything had happened till I got this sudden pain in my shin where the bash plate hit it.

For those of you who don't bother reading the front page, entry forms for both the Pre-65 and the SSDT are now available from the SSDT website.

Sorry folks - the office has been a whirlwind of problems to sort and visitors through the door, this is the first time I've sat down at the computer today! Thursday's route is traditionally a long haul - down to Glencoe, over Rannoch Moor, up north through Corrour before finishing with Fersit and coming back home through Spean Bridge.
