Good to see some exclusives on TC building up to Monday's start...

It was brought to my attention whilst in Fort William that Tommy passed away during SSDT week. With everything going on I omitted to mention this on Trials Central. Plenty of you will have known Tommy and many of you who have ridden will have crossed swords with him at some point! Tommy was one of those characters that the Scottish is so well known for. Every year he drove up in his Reliant Robin via A and B roads because he wasn't allowed on motorways, but still he made it - even when he was well into his 90's. Full details of today's route and progress will follow shortly. Today's trial has been disrupted due to a fatal road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist on the A82, just west of Spean Bridge. The accident is in no way connected with the Scottish Six Days Trial, but has a direct impact on the event as the road has been closed, and will be for some hours yet as accident investigations take place. Further details will be provided as soon as we have enough time here in the office to sit down.

I've decided to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation which aims to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses while i attempt this years SSDT. After five long days of battle incredibly only two marks separate the top three riders, leaving everything set for a tight and tense finale to the 2012 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT). Originally a reliability trial, one point for footing (on hill sections) was introduced in 1931. Does anyone know when a contemporary scoring system was introduced and when the emphasis on reliability was dropped?

As any fan of the SSDT cannot fail to have noticed, the West End Car Park is going to be a little different this year to accommodate our Centenary celebrations, and here's where you can find out all about it! The changes in the car park this year are focused around the introduction of the SSDT Marquee, which will form the social heart of the SSDT this year, offering something for everyone.

Be advised the main A82 trunk road will be closed at 10pm tonight between Tarbet & Ardlui (Loch Lomond). The road will not reopen until 0600 on Saturday morning. The main diversion route is via Inveraray on the A83 trunk road. There will be no closure on Saturday or Sunday night, but from Monday until Friday next week the road will be closed at 2200 and will reopen at 0600 the following day between Tarbet & Ardlui (Loch Lomond).
