I and my brother walked the 6 miles up to loch eilde cottage for the two subs on wednesday. ( cottage is a bit grand its a semi derelict , mostly derelict building at the far end of the loch probably used by those that dammed the loch in 1916-18) the weather was fine until the first riders arrived. refueling first at the fuel tent manned by two wet desert rats.. At that time the winds were approx. 30mph and the rain was HEAVY. the three observers were huddled in a portable fishing bothy and had two of the easiest sections of the trial to observe. they ran consequteively and were about 40 yards in length total with a rise of 8 -10 feet in total. from my experince the…

Just wondering if any TC folks got an entry for 2010?

Day one of the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) is a daunting time for all concerned, but for the small number of virgin riders who are new to the event, the opening day is filled with even more tension than usual. 2009 UCI Downhill World Champion and three times World Cup Champion Steve Peat has made his name on the mountain biking scene, but motorcycle trials is still relatively new to the thirty-three year old. Having entered and successfully finished the notorious Scott Trial in 2010 the friendly giant from Sheffield decided to enter the SSDT for 2011.

As of Fridays results, TC member and hopefull "Baldilocks" is hanging onto his top 100 spot by his toenails! In the 100th spot, Baldi is only one point behind Becky Cook, spot 99, and actually has a fair chance at whipping the lass. Should things go terribly wrong on Saturday, we shall do our best to insure Bex follows through with a bending of Baldilocks over the knee and a paddle provided by TC.

So far we've got eleven SSDT payments into our bank account, and only seven of them can be identified. Already four people have sent their entry fees in without a reference to tell me who they are or who their payment is in respect of. Can I just remind everyone that if we can't identify that a payment is yours, you will lose your place in the trial. Come 15th February I'll be going through all the statements, matching off all the payments we've got with the entrants, and if I can't match your payment with your entry fee then you lose out. Paw Moffat is away to the But n Ben early to practice his patter for ssdt week. Every morning this week he'll be in the West End car park with Wee Jean's hairbrush & wearing Wee Stevie's ear muffs holding interviews with many unsuspecting tourists. With any luck the local constabulary will only caution him for this behaviour & he'll still be available for PF duties next week.

Are competitors in the SSDT allowed to use more than one bike now?

Update at 10:45 It is another absolutely glorious day in Fort William....I keep expecting to wake up and find that the rain has started, but no, we're still holding out!

Thirty-seven-year-old Dougie Lampkin (Gas Gas) will set out this morning with a real chance of capturing a seventh Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) title to further extend the record that he achieved last year. Lampkin has already amassed more SSDT wins than any other rider in the long history of the competition. When Dougie won last year's event for SSDT win number six, he overtook both Sammy Miller and Mick Andrews who have each won this world famous trial five times.

Well, what was a certain Mr Colley riding when he won in 1997 and 2000??? I'm sure it was a gasser, especially as when I bought the '97 one off him he told me it had just won the event, but I could be wrong, you know what these dodgy second hand bike salesmen are like he he! COME ON DIBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is the 1st of October, and so in time-honoured tradition, the entries for the 2012 SSDT are now open! You can get your form at www.ssdt.org. Entries close on 16th December, but if you want to be sure that it arrives on time, please make sure you post it before 1st December - better safe than sorry!

Just wondering. Back in the Good Old Days manufcturers used to debut new bikes or developments at the Scottish. Sometimes the paddock was the place to catch the first glimpse of next seasons "must have" ? Just wondered if anybody "knew" of anything

The routes for the Centenary SSDT are now available to download. We'd ask that everybody pays attention to our request that unauthorised bikes stay off the route, both before and during the event. We run a real risk of losing some of our key ground due to illegal riding, so if we want the SSDT to survive the next one hundred years, we all need to do our bit. SSDT Centenary Routes
