A friend's father has a can-am mono that he might sell. I don't know the year of it. Can anyone one give me any advice when looking at it. He says he has not started it in a couple of yrs. and it has sat most of the last 15-20 yrs. Only starting occasionally. Any problems with the mono can-am's. All I know about them is that they were made by Armstrong in England until 1987 and they had a Rotax motors. I know chassis parts will be difficult to find. Are these bikes competetive with other mono's of the day. Also, what size rotax motors were in these bikes? Thanks for any info you can give me. Cheers, Fergie.

  3. Looking for a bit of info as to what it is really, I thought it was an Amigo 80 Now I've got the bike looking at images online I'm not sure exactly what it is. I have front disc and rear drum, 21 & 18" wheels, its fitted with a Franco Morini engine but the bore size is marked as 39mm which I think makes it a 50. Unsurprisingly it needs a new rear mudguard, I've tried the one from my Skywalker and its a spot on fit, which seems to rule it out being a Alevin as i found a reference saying they were close but not right. I've messaged Harglo to see if they have any engine spares remaining, if not does anybody know anybody else who may have spares o…

Can you help i have an old jcm 323 trial bike with the TI engine fitted. the clutch is slipping and not able to ride out of 3rd gear, as the bike is one of the first 35 bikes made it has a different clutch fitted the friction plates are more like a rear sprocket than a friction plate, there is a sureflex make on the plate but unable to find a listing for the bike or engine, have contacted them and no answer... have spoken to Joel in france but have no parts left and no part no. I think the bike has been run on car engine oil which has a slip agent in it so will mess up the best friction plates in the world. So have been messing around with spacers on the spring new spri…

Rescued a dumped JCM in poor condition and I thought I'd have a go at restoring it as in the main it's all there. Can't seem to find a lot of info on it though and my first problem is where will I get a flywheel puller for it? Thought my TY one would fit but it's a different thread. Any info on bike much appreciated. Cheers! Previous rescued & restored bikes to a useable condition and current projects.... TYZ.... Yamaha TY125 & TY250 (Pinky).... Suzuki Beamish RL250 (in pieces at the mo).... JCM (to be stripped)...

  12. Started by Bradocross,

I'm interested in purchasing an aftermarket repackable silencer for my TY mono (DEP, WES or those sold on FEKED). I am located in California so, as such, I'm required to run a spark arrester at any OHV park. I've been going round and round on this, trying to find a solution. I'd love to find a cone screen that will fit any of these and avoid the DIY mess I may make of a new silencer. I was also thinking of sourcing a Cobra Sparky that will fit on the back end of one of these silencers (although a bit clunky looking). I'm concerned that it may not clear the rear fender as well. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of one of these oval silencers at the back (top to bottom, s…

Hi, I am currently rebuilding a TYMono that has been paired to a Rushton Chair. Its a full strip down, powder coat, replace all bearings etc. It has been converted to a twin shock on the back end which I prefer for the chair use. A few loose ends I am hoping to box out whilst the frame is off being coated: 1) Does anyone know any UK retailers who do front fork springs. TY Trials, SM and InMotion don't seem to list them and the Magicals website said it was going to be back up on 1 Sept but is still down 2) Has anyone replaced the expensive/moulded rear mudguard with a stock replacement available from the sites above. I am pairing the bike with a shedworks tank and seat …

It's a 1984 TY 250 mono. It's got the shock with the remote reservoir. I've taken the preload to the max and wound the spring to it's tightest setting with the two locking rings. The back end bottoms out far too easily - I'm about 100kg with all my gear on. Is there anything else I can do? Does anyone do a heavy duty spring? Should I put a packer in front of the lock rings so they compress existing spring more? My guess is I'll lose some travel but it might be worth it? Should I lay off the beer and pies to lose a few kg's (I think this has to be a very last resort)? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know how much and what grade of fork oil goes in the 89 240 Europa. They are 35mm Marzocchi so I presume they could be common to some other bikes of this era. Also I was told that removing one of the baffles from the main exhaust silencer was a good tuning mod,has anyone tried this?

Can anybody help with jetting for a Mikuni VM26 for use on the Yamaha TY250R? The carb is new and was supplied supposedly set up specifically for this bike but it is way out. It'll barely run past idle it is SO rich, as if the choke is on. Supplied jetting is - Needle 5L8 Needle Jet 182 N8 Main 125 Pilot 35 Slide 2.0 Or at least I think this is right as I can't see the flipping numbers and had to photo them and zoom in as best I could.. Thanks. Steve.

Hi guys, Im having a problem with my 250 yamaha pinky! when say in first gear and doing a tight turn(when throttle control is needed most!) the bike feels uneven ,snatchy, ive cleaned out the carb and jets but noticed 1, the needle at the tip is worn 2, is there supposed to be some sort of surge baffle where the main jet sits (there isnt one on my bike!) it revs fine as it should do at all other throttle openings! thanks in advance!

Just got an 86 ty250r and had the top end off for a look. It's not bad but has some scratches. It's got a piston with 50 stamped on the crown. Also has a shaped crown rather than even curves. Only have ordinary vernier calipers so only measred the bore at the very top. Seems to be 68mm there. Can anyone tell from any of this whether it's already been rebored. Does the 50 mean 0.5 oversize? Also any one know if Birketts will still do the 270 kit & shorten the inlet tract? Last posts i've seen were about 4 or 5 years ago. Cheers.
