Youth Trials

At the mintex trial the bikes have to be below 85dBA dose any one now what distance they mesure bike at or what reves they do it at ??

There will be a kids 'TY or small wheels; route at the South Shields trial at Oxen Law this Sunday (See events liting for details). Courses will set to ability, complete beginners are more than welcome ! The trial will be run on really good land (woods, banksides etc), really close to the parking area. More than likely there will be a morning then afternoon trial, with plenty of bike time. Sections will be marked out to take marks but nothing dangerous at all. Bring the kids along, like I said, even if they have never rode a trial - as long as they can start, ride and stop a bike there will be a course set out for them. Spen Valley are running a separate Small Wheel trial for both Small Wheel and Electric Bikes at their Novice Beginners Trial this Sunday. The venue is Harden Moor with a Start of 10:30. The Novice Beginners for all other classes will start at 12:00.

This weekends Novice Beginners will have a OSET course with a start time of 10am. The venue is Rockingstones Quarry See website for directions.

Hi My son has just turned 14 and wants to start trials. We live newr to Nash Mills site and I have a Beta tr 33 myself. its obviously to big and heavy for him to start and ride properly, and I have been considering a Beta 80 or Beta 125. My son is about 5ft tall and lightly built. Can anyone let me know if the 80cc will suit him or if we should go for a 125? Many thanks Dave

hi im 12 cumin up 13 end of this month. i ride a 125cc sherco and want to compete. what is the best way to get into competiton? also what obstacles are there normally in a youth trial? any help appreaciated

The first two A & B nationals have prompted much discussion re time limits,out of class etc. Ithought it might be helpful for some experienced lads and dads to say here how they would like to see national trials set out. As a clerk of the coirse myself and trials national dad in my 5th season I dont want any organisers to see this as critisam as I know that running atrial is far from a perfect science and I guarantee you will not please all the people all the time.It also depends on hw much help you get. Hi, I'm just starting my 7 year old lad in trials, bought him a Beta 50, joined a club/practice area and we've had several outings now and i've just let him ride the bike, get used to the ground, go up and down a few hills etc but my question is what to do next? Do you just let them go at their own pace? - he's more than happy just riding the bike at the moment Try and get him to ride over more difficult terrain without him realising? Or just set up some small obstacles/sections and get him to try them? I don't want to push him to hard and get to the point where he's not enjoying it Cheers

My 13 yr lad had his first trial last weekend ( Waterside Club ) fantastic club, great event .... We got an 09 Gas Gas 125 with Renthal Fatbars on... Fitted some 20mm risers and he reckons feels much nicer like his BMX !! When he is on full lock , he is really outstreched . Was thinking of triming bar width slighty ? On the basis that what may be fine for a 6" 2 bloke may not be right for a skinny 12-13yr old !! any ideas of bar set up please, trials dad,s

I got the attached from the ACU which will appear in the 2011 handbook. I installed a 70cc. Hebo kit to my kids txt 50 and it is incredibly noisy. The piston in this kit only has one ring and it seems that the noise is comming from the rattling of the piston with the sleeve. The bike works great though and I am not sure if it is normal all that anoying noise. Thanks for the advice.

As it say's in the events section, there will be a kids TY80 Route this Sunday at the Castleside trial at Rogerly. Usual format will be half a dozen sections set out and the kids can practice as many times as they want, then run a 6 lap trial. There will then probably be a couple of simple sections marked which they walk then ride without practice. Usual kids who attend - please turn up. For those that are unsure or the kids have never done a trial bring them along - there's no pressure, its to develop them and give them confidence, not to make them struggle. The course will suit all kids including osets. Those who know Rogerly know that it's a great venue for the kids…

This Sunday is the Consett Club Spring Trial, and WILL include a conducted TY80 Route. The TY80 course will be at the start point of the Spring Trial which is at Oxen Law. It will follow the normal format of half a dozen sections set out to practice then ride, followed by a break for dinner then a few sections set out in the afternoon just to walk then ride. Sections are set right from beginner ability - as long as the kids can stop and start they should be able to manage no problem. Sections are set for kids to enjoy, not to be dangerous whilst introducing them to trials. Hope to see the usual kids along, as well as some new ones are more than welcome and the sections…

Consett Trial has been moved to Butsfield this Sunday and as usual we will be running a kids trial alongside the main trial. Everyone from beginners are welcome on the kids course - if need be we will run two routes. We have been doing some more work to put some new sections in - we may even use a new area within Butsfield so kids will have something new. Bring your kids along - everything from Osets to 125's are more than welcome - even if you have never trailled before you can join on the day and have some fun - all for £5 to enter. Im looking to get my girlfreinds boy a trials bike as hes been showing an interest in my bike. Ive got a tight budget of £500 and the only option for that money as far as i can see is the TY. Dont really want to spend tomuch more until iknow he is properly keen and will pursue it. Will this bike be a good start bike for a 9 year old or will it be to small is my main question? Hes never riden a bike with a clutch before. Hes about a average height for his age but is on the heavy side!!! Any input would be good.
