I'm over in California and have been looking at a couple of vintage monos. One is a 1983 TY 250 and the other is a 1985 TY 350 . I've been told to steer away from these bikes as parts are almost non-existent (top ends, bottom ends, clutch, etc.). I've been told the 250 is a better bike but the 350 is in better condition. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated. I'm a novice rider, weigh 60kg, and I currently ride a 1974 TY 250. I'm looking for another vintage trials bike that is a bit more plush to ride and I'd like the parts availability to do a full rebuild if it comes to that. My local club has a provisional class for the monos so I'd still be able t…

  4. Hi Guys Have a 198A 250 Sherpa , with all sorts of issues , has [i believe] a VM26 Mikuni carb which I think is ready to hit the scrap-heap , wrong slide cut-away [#3] wrong pilot jet #30 thats just for starters .... has had me going round in circles so going to buy a new carb , question is should I stick with the Mikuni or try something else .... if anyones using a VM26 , would love to know what your basic settings are before I loose it ! Next major issue is the "spark" ... had the Mag off today and the coils look like they;re been in a battle field and lost , lots of scored insulation on both coils LT & Lighting [not used] so they are knackered ... next question…

Hi All well i noticed the clutch operating arm of my tiger cub was broken on the end where the cable connects to the arm and have found a stainless arm replacement online however as the pin that holds the arm on the threaded part is compressed on it will not come off. i cannot source the pin. is there a supplier that may make these? or is it a case of purchasing the complete assembly second hand or maybe having to get one machined. any have one for sale maybe? kind regards Neil

What a great day on Saturday, when Bath Classic MC Club ran their trials school day with Mick Andrews. A very good day and I can't thank Mick enough for taking time out to help my young son, one to one, it made his and my day. Looking forward to your next trial and hope you do get another practice day sorted.

Just arrived from the Isle of Man, want to thank Marilyn, Phil, Juan Readshaw and all the motoclub crew for the fantastic trial and weekend we have enjoyed. Also want to point out the amazing trial rode by Juan Knight that loosed just two marks with a rigid Bantham. A enjoyable video about the 7th race we could enjoy on Friday before the trial; 200 mph in an urban circuit with 1970´s bikes... http://www.wimp.com/streetracing/

Hello, I'm looking for an AJS 350 short stroke barrel or complete engine, can anyone help? I've seen a few post on here mentioning them so I thought it would be worth a try. I think you can get short stroke barrels with external push rod covers, but I'm looking for the type which had the rods inside the barrel. I know that people are still casting the long stoke alloy barrels, but not sure about the short stroke versions. Many thanks

  13. Somerton Mcc ran the Gordon Francis Trial today at Binnegar Quarry. The day could not have been more perfect, firstly 10 excellent classic style sections, exceptionally well laid out, once the mist lifted glorious sunny weather, and a good turn out, all the usual faces and plenty of banter and lastly a brief presentation to the eventual winner Barry Barthorpe who piloted his Ariel to a solid victory dropping only 2 marks to lift the trophy for a 2nd time. well done to Somerton club for laying out 3 routes to ensure all abilities had a challenging but safe day. if Carlsberg ran trials...............................

I thought people might get a kick out of this US based catalog from 1977. Prices (USD) appear to have gone up a bit since then. https://newenglandtrials.com/thetryalsshope/

I heard a story at the weekend that the Nostalgia trial this year is being held on the weekend before the scramble, not sure if it is on saturday or sunday though. The normal has been trial saturday then scramble sunday.I like to ride in both but cannot afford to travel there on 2 separate weekends so would have to choose one or the other.I prefer to scramble so would have to miss the trial, though I enjoy it. Anyone heard anything about this?
