Hello All Im brand new out here, just bought a nice 74 Sherpa T 350, just a few things to get organized on the bike, the rear tire is rubbing on muffler, tire is correct size, is it something as simple as bending muffler tab a bit? Also is electronic ignition the way to go on these bikes, its a hard starter. Thanks

Hi all, I am, or at least I was when I last checked Ian Bullock It's my first time on this forum. I was steered here by the lads of the BMCA with whom I ride with on a regular basis, all about how well conversed my new addition to the garage has become. Well bug#er me, I've become bloody famous without knowing it. I am a mechanical engineer and sheet metal worker by trade and I run my own business from here in the Black Country. As some of our works involve unusual metals such as Titanium I simply got to thinking what if? After doing some research a couple or three years ago into the likes of T45 etc which seemed to be so popular a choice for replica frames, I …

I have acquired a 74 TL125 with a Chinese carb, and the OEM junk carb. Some research I did a long time ago said that a mid 70's XR 75 Carb was the same just jetted differently, anyone know of a better option or have one to sell?

Okay, I know that this is sacrilegious to even suggest this ….but I want brakes on my TLR200 Reflex. Before everyone looses their minds and start yelling for me to learn how to ride and to use engine braking and what not let me explain. I am not fortunate enough to have a practice area in my yard nor do I have a way to conveniently transport my bike most days. I have a bike carrier that hooks up to the receiving hitch on our SUV but my wife is generally driving that, which means that I have to ride my bike TO the places where I can ride my bike. As you all know the brakes on the TLR are garbage. Being that an older lady pulled out in front of me the other day when I was o…

I've put together a gallery of some current classics, Pre65 and twinshock. Mainly from the ACU classic series over the last few years. It's here: http://picasaweb.google.com/motomerlin/ClassicTrialsBikes

As many of you will know, we had to cancel the Retro65 2 day trial due to be held near Welshpool a few weeks ago. 60 entries were needed to make running the event financially viable and at the closing date we had only received 26. On the same weekend the Scarborough club ran a two day, Westmoreland club held a round of the Sammy Miller series and then there was the Euro Trial in Gloucestershire. Are there too many events or should we have followed the trend and opened the trial to Twin Shocks, Air cooled Mono's, Trail bikes etc. and had two routes instead of trying to run a genuine classic bike trial with a single route?

It’s about time I started again on the Cub prep. I’d appreciate your opinions on the following 2nd gear 26/19 - is it worth the effort and expense? PVL or HPI - the only experience I’ve had with PVLs is to understand they are pretty basic with little advance. thanks in anticipation

Hi All I re-built my Cheetah trials bike (37A Villiers motor) a few years ago, but have only now started to use it in classic trials. The bike was put together with whatever came in the boxes and everything fitted as it should. Today, I found the bike was definitely "overgeared". I have established that the final gearing on the bike now, is 15T/54T. Does anyone have an idea what it should be? Thanks in advance David

I have a 230cc Tiger Cub motor with a Dellorto carb, Armac exhaust and PVL style (UPB) ignition. The slow running and mid range power is okay but on long climbs where it requires high revs it misfires very badly and often does not make it up the hill. I have spent the best part of a year trying to get the motor to run correctly but I am getting nowhere and going around in circles. I have asked many fellow Cub owners for help but it mystifies us all. I have checked and double checked the ignition timing which is spot on. I have tried all sorts of spark plugs, main jets, needles and pilot jets but still the problem persists. Currently I have a 35 pilot, 105 main jet and a D…

Hi Folks, I'm an ex Midland centre ex pat living in Australia and need a bit of help with my Cub forks. At the moment they are heavy duty forks with external springs and very little suspension movement. I don't have the knowledge of what Cub owners are fitting to their bikes in UK but keep seeing the words "trick forks". I know guys are fitting all sorts of internals but I don't have the facilities to carry out these mods myself . Can anyone help with a pair of modified forks to fit standard Cub yokes and front wheel please. I'm happy to pay the market price and all expenses including postage to Australia. I prefer to be contacted on my email, twinsho…

I have a few issues with my bike...any help with any of them welcome. What engine oil to use ? I'm guessing anything 20/50w ? GTX although I see GTX is now 10/40w When I went to drain the primary chaincase it had nothing in it....I have had to remove the casing (see next question) and it has electronic ignition...Is this the reason it has no oil...can the chain and clutch be used like this ? Having watched the newly replaced gearbox oil trickle out of the final drive sprocket bearing it seems this is knackered along with the seal. I've managed to reach the bearing via the clutch side, but how do you pull the bearing out....Or do I have to remove the gearbox and push…
