  2. Started by bathtub,

Can anyone help with any knowledge of a strange old ‘bitsa’, trials motorbike I’m playing with? It’s registered as a DMW and the square section frame would suggest that it started out as one. The back end has been modified to support a Royal Enfield swinging arm and wheel. It’s thought the frame may have originally had a solid or plunger rear end. It’s got two rear sprockets bolted together, but I can’t see the point as it would be impossible to run a chain on the smaller due to it being against the larger. The front also has Royal Enfield forks and wheel. The engine’s a pre ’63 Tiger cub unit. The petrol tank’s probably also from an Enfield, but it’s been cut and welded …

Hi all, newbie here, I have been thinking about doing some Classic Trials, probably twin shock, I live in South Hampshire and wondered if there was anything happening round here, I cant see any point in buying a bike to have some fun if that means a 200 mile drive and only 3 times a year! Maybe its just that I cant find the info but that's the way it looks... I hope you guys can put me right. Thanks, Phil

Has anyone had any experience with one of these badboys, got one today and fitted to the Bantam(don't laugh) didn't notice much difference.I tried it in all 3 positions no difference. My friend fitted one to his James and noticed a vast improvement, making the clutch lighter. What is the lightest position of the 3 holes?Thought it was a good idea but may have to mod. the clutch arm instead and reposition the cable . cheers the noo Brian

Here's a few photo's from today's (11th May) trial put on by the Aqueducts Classics club (North Wales), a good entry of pre-65 and twinshock bikes and a very enjoyable 3 hours spent watching, next time I'll be competing as I joined the club today .

90 riders were entered in the programme for this years Arbuthnot, a great day out in the sunshine. Considering the rain beforehand it wasn't too slippery in the sections, but the tracks in between were a real challenge at times and would have made great sections in their own right.I did feel for those hardy types riding the Colonial route on road tyres ! It really is a great day out, more an adventure than a trial at times, you see some amazing bikes and ride through some very beautiful countryside. Legs and shoulders were more than stiff this morning, over 80 miles, mostly off road on a rigid take their toll. Anyone got any links to photo's, there were plenty of people tak…

  15. Is there any place in the Western US where vintage trials are laid out as they were 40 years ago so the motorcycle is moving pretty much all of the time? More a momentum thing than a point and shoot type exercise. Out of more general interest, are trials done that way anywhere in the world today?

Hi Guys, After being badgered for a couple of months to incorporate Twin-Shocks into the Classic Trials Show by a guy, after discussion with the team we decided to give him a chance, He then turned the idea down. This is what we said. OK, we have a one hour slot in our busy schedule, that we may be able to fit in a one lap, ten section, trials class. So if you can find seven or eight, "Honda riders" to make up this class, to ride both days. (They can be different riders on both days if you wish), I will try and organize the class, the bikes must be twinshocks, and the fee will be the same as the open class,

  18. Started by Fanny B,

Hi all, does anyone out there in the classic world know where I can get a replica Ariel HT trials frame from. Everyone I have contacted has either stopped making them or put the shutters up for an unspecified time as they are busy. I`m not afraid to pay but I just can find a source. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys can anybody help with info on how to remove the speedo drive from an HT5 rear wheel. I am used to Norton ones which just pull off. I believe the HT5 drive has a locking ring is this the C spanner ring behind the speedo drive? If yes is it LH or RH thread? Need to take it off to get my spokes repaired
