Hi Due to a number of reasons I'd not run the Rev4 for over a year... After getting it started at the trial it ran OK up to a point it intermittently cut out queueing at some sections and was pinking a fair bit. Any advice on what might be causing this and what to do? Old fuel probably didn't help... 😣

Hi, have an issue with my sons Beta 80 fan not running, I’m a bit of an novice when it comes to electrics but am I right in thinking that if I connect the 2 wires in the multi plug from the fan to a 12 volt battery one to positive and one to negative obviously, the fan should spin up.

Hi all, I am hoping someone can offer me some advice. I have recently bought an old 98 techno. On following directions from many forums, I have concluded that the stator is shot. Either I send it off to WCWindings for a re-wind, or I purchase something new. Obviously due to the age of the bike I am struggling to find the correct stator. I have found a stator for Beta Rev 3 on the “Inch Perfect Trials” website. Question is - will this work on my Beta Techno with my current CDI? Or will it work if I change my current CDI to match the new Rev 3 stator. Thanks in advance for taking time to respond! I have attached link to the new stator below. https://inchperf…

I have tried everything to get my 2012 beta Evo 125 running well and I'm almost there. I'm just wondering if I need a hotter plug. My plug is always carbonised. It is dry black not oily wet. My previous evos all had perfect colour plugs and we're light tan whenever I checked them. Im now running 80:1 Castrol power 1 fully synthetic. Air screw is 2.5 turns out. Exhaust and silencer fully decarbonized, carb standard setting and air filter spotless. I run 99 octane petrol. My current plug is a ngk Br7es. I understand the higher the number the colder the plug with ngk. So I'm tempted to drop to br6es. I'm in the UK so it's seldom warm. Does anybody think a hott…

I’ve been trying in vain to find a workshop manual for my 2004 Rev 3 250. Previous posts seem to confirm that one doesn’t exist for the Rev 3 but the later (2009) Evo engine can be used as it is very similar. The problem is all the links to this manual (mainly the USA Beta site) are broken. Can anybody please point me in the right direction on the web or where I could get a copy of the engine manual at least? Thanks!

  7. Just spent a few hours stripping down swing arm, suspension and linkages to regrease. All bearings looked fine so used a good quality grease and reassembled. I was just wondering if it matters what orientation the bushes have to go back. Obviously one side is longer than the other. I'm pretty sure I put them all back with the wide sided bush on the outside and thinner bush on the inside. Would it matter if I have got them the other way round. I only noticed they should go back in a certain way when I looked at the beta parts diagram today. I would rather not have to take it all apart again to check if it doesn't matter.

  8. Hi there. My bikes revs dramatically increase when bike is on an incline (front higher than rear). Even an incline as little as 10 %. I've checked floats and they are set properly and appear to cut off when perfectly horizontal. This has been a long running occurance. This weekend I have stripped and cleaned carb, decoked front pipe, cleaned and repacked silencer, cleaned air filter, new plug and changed premix to Castrol power 1 racing. Running 50:1. I'm going to have a play with the air screw and get that set properly as I think it's running rich. Any idea what could be causing this ? Obviously it was like this before I carried out the weekend maintenance. I …

I’ve been recommissioning a 2004 Rev 3 and although it appears runs ok (on the flat, yet to try on the hills) my Rev 3 appears to have a bit of a piston knock at all revs. I’ve taken off the head and although a bit coked up the piston and cylinder bore looks in good condition. Whilst there is no detectable play vertically, I’d estimate 1mm play fore and aft and side to side for the piston in the bore. The piston is stamped 72.457 (04-14 8724) and I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the original piston but can’t find the exact measurements for the pistons or oversize replacements if anyone has these please? Is the lateral play acceptable or does this point to cylinder/…

  10. Hello! New member here, so please be patient 😅 I've got a few months ago my first trial bike, a 2007 Beta Rev 270. After a few weeks I started having fun on it, but I kinda crashed against a few "limits" of the bike: speed and power. Of course they're not made to be "fast", but I always have to front some km on the road to reach nice places to have fun... and the bike is too slow, to the point of being dangerous. My bike has a Mikuni carb that I'm dying to swap, as it always needs the air screw to be adjusted... and I always hated Mikuni, even when I had KTM supermotos. Anyway, I'd need to make the bike a bit faster/more powerful to not be crushed by cars o…

I hope this is the right place to post this.... I'm in the market for my first trials bike for many years (53 now), I've never done it competitively and want to take it up. I've been watching the classifieds like a hawk the last few weeks and am agonising a bit.... I've pretty much decided I want a Beta from what I've read but the agonising part is the price difference between an older Rev and a newer Evo. 15 year old Revs seem to be priced anywhere between £1400 - over £2k in some cases which seems steep for an old bike whereas I've seen much newer Evo 250's for between £2 - 2.5k. To be honest, I was hoping to get going on about £1500 to see how I got on, …

Good morning I have just bought my first trials bike, its a "itch" that's needed scratching for a while, it was sold to me as a 2004 beta 250, very tired looking but with reams of very recent receipts (new piston etc) which either means I am set for a while or its a "nail" and he got fed up of spending on it!? but the receipts suggest its 270cc! once I work out how to upload some pics I will.. the rear mudguard has been snapped and has had a terrible cable tie repair,, I am shocked that they are not available!.. I will no doubt have loads of questions but I am moving to Spain next week so barring a 1 min ride I had no time to go get familiar with it before packing i…

Hi my 2011 Evo 4t recently started overheating upon checking various things I found the water pump impeller was missing. There has been various posts about this eg excess heat has melted them. On mine there is no trace of any bits so I can only assume it was never there. Past posts never came up with a definite answer but hopefully others have has this problem and got to the bottom of it. Any views on this mystery. One other question Is the camchain automatically tensioned or is there a way of doing it manually. Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi, I’m new around here and about to take up trials in my early 50’s. As explained on another post I’ve had bikes all my life, once had a TY175 briefly but never done nothing competitive. I’m torn between getting another TY, either a 175 or a 250 mono or going for a used Beta Rev as they seem more abundant and the prices are maybe a little less silly (although all prices seem a bit silly since lockdown!). I don’t really want to spend more than £1500 or so at present until I see how I get on with it if possible. Question is, ideally if I get a Beta I think I would want a 200 from what I have read as I don’t want a bike that’s OTT for my novice capabilities. …

Hi, I’m just recommissioning a 2004 Rev 3 that’s been laid up for a number of years and could do with some clarification with respect to how to correctly set the chain tension. The manual shows 20mm gap from the top of the chain tensioner to swing arm. Not easy as my tensioner is a bit skew-if, and is this with the bike supported on a centre stand, on the ground or loaded etc.? Searching for an answer throws up various methods and suggests tension should be set with the axel / swing arm pivot / front sprocket aligned i.e. effective maximum length. Any help as always gratefully received! Cheers

Hello The Beta Evo 200 was much appreciated by older riders, who wanted a softer, less aggressive power delivery. Can anyone enlighten me as to when Beta ruined the Beta Evo 200cc by lightening the flywheel, raising the compression ratio and other "improvements" which have spoilt the soft, mild, tractable nature of the engine, making grip elusive in difficult conditions, even for experienced riders? The 2020 models still had the above "improvements". Do the 2021 and/or 2022 models also suffer? Thanks
