This section of the forums has been set up to allow users POSITIVE interaction with the ACU and to collect that interaction in one place so it is easy to find and so that posts do not get buried amongst other topics in the UK Trials Talk forum (plus it makes it easier for Dicko to find stuff for his editorial) ACU-bashing will not be permitted. Many of us are still blindly, all be it with the very best of intentions, doing our best to complete and sign the RA forms for our events. I was wondering how things are progressing with some kind of formal risk assessment training and/or a generic set of risk assessments for all trials Clerks of the Course to be able to refer to?

It has been bought up in another thread that some of the observing at the recent Stratford-Upon-Avon clubs Colmore cup was questionable. Comments have been made following a short video clip taken at the last section of the day where a rider, may have stopped briefly but was still only given a one for dabbing. With the benefit of video footage to watch over and over again, it does appear to be a pause but should it have been a five? Here's another to take a look at. Why does the ACU send out the hand book I have requested not to have it in any form (CD or Book) but they keep sending?

As has recently been communicated to Centres, the Trials & Enduro Committee will be holding an Open Trials Forum at ACU House on Saturday 8th August 2009 starting at 10.30am prompt. Issues relating to the British Solo Trials Championship will be discussed at a separate forum at a later date. I couldn't make it to the first training course in November due to work, and admittedly I've had to leave it late to apply for the January course due to my wife's work (nurse shift patterns etc). I sent the application in a bit before xmas, but its full up (Saturday 13th January). Does anybody know of anyone who's not able to attend? ACU can let me know possibly next Thursday, but only if people actually cancel rather than not turn up. Sooner I know the better. I still need to arrange send my kids off somewhere for half the day. What a pleasant suprise to find the new look ACU SportMoto magazine waiting in the letter box today. The new size and the superbly written articles combine to make a magazine that really is worth having. I have to admit that I was not a fan of the old magazine and considered it to be a waste of licence/affiliation payers money, but this is good. Well done ACU. This weekend - 17/7/11 - only 6 riders on the Championship course, 8 on the Expert course and 39 starters on the Clubman (Exp B ) course. . Is it about time the championship was put back on to a National courses? 1 lap x 40+ sections. No practice lap. No Minders. Only one chance to ride the section. What do you think? Would your Club be prepared to run a British Solo Championship within your National? If so go to your Centre meetings and get a proposal to the Trials & Enduro Committee. Forget about the Youth class they have their own Championship.

I'm posting here because I assume they are published by the ACU. I thought that when you received your ACU license that they also sent the little booklet with the calendar of events in your centre. Apparently not, so my question is where do I get one? I don't want to be critical here because I really appreciate all the work that the local clubs and organisers do, but planning ahead for trials can be so difficult (I know I'm not the only one who has a busy schedule). Usually clubs post their trials on the TC calendar which is great, but sometimes it's only a week before hand. Some clubs have websites and are kept up to date, some are not, some clubs only seem to post …

hi, Completely new to trials and yet to join a club but id like to know if I can join more than one club? Im based in the UK and in Cumbria there is more than one club and id like to enter competitions in various clubs but the ACU membership asks for 'club riding for' , so do I have to a main club and then have others as secondaries or can I just do as I please and join them all and leave this blank? many thanks. I have mentioned this in another topic, but felt it may be worth asking the question. Years ago the ACU offered annual motorcycle insurance that covered usage on the road during a trial but was discontinued. Not sure why. With clubs now having to offer additional RTA cover at a fee could it not be worth the ACU starting up the insurance cover again?

Does anyone know how much the ACU have raised their trials fees by for 2015 ? I have seen clubs raising entry fees by £2 to cover this years increase.

Lets be honest off road motorcycling (trials) has a bad image, albeit with the un-informed public who assume that anyone riding a trials bike is some marauding balaclava wearing youth out to destroy the peace and tranquility of the countryside. Some of the looks I've been given off rambers would have curdled milk, even after I've done the customary nod of the head and greeted them with a, ''Good Morning''. hi there, i was filling out my registration form and it says youth a,b,c,d at the moment i am classed as a youth a and i would have to ride a 125cc but in a few months time i am 17 so does this mean that i can ride 250 and above? and it also says that for persons that are 16 and above are classed as adults so does this mean i could ride a 250cc now or not?i am only planning on riding clubman trials if this helps. thanks.

With only a handful of riders in the world able to get the best from a modern trials bike, the recent change of rules to non stop may not be enough to make a real difference to the sport. If bikes were heavier this would limit their capabilities, but this is a difficult change to make, check and enforce. If bikes were less powerful it would make a difference, but again, next to impossible to put in place. If suspension was less effective it would be a big handycap but this is impossible to introduce. So I turned up to this event today, only to be told the trial was last week (aparently it was really good) ... a little while ago there was another trial that appeared on the list for a couple of weeks and then disappeared the day before ... I can understand how difficult it is to co-ordinate the ACU events list, but is this a common problem? Is there anywhere alse I can check for cross-club events in the UK?
