ACU Discussion

On reading the CLASS ENTERED section for the tradional championship ( the regulations say the same) . It states if you enter ,for instance.... class E 'Machines not in class A ( pre 75)...class B (twinshock)or class C ( aircooled) ridden by rider over 50'. Now the classes A,E and F on some rounds get an easier route ( which is a good idea), if you are an over 50 rider riding say, a twinshock, does the wording above mean you cannot enter the twinshock in class E OVER 50. hope it makes sence??

Hi there, i'm rather confused with the acu licence form, what boxes do i need to tick for trials registration, i was a member about 2 years back, and now just getting back into trials and i remember it was about 30 pounds, has it gone up? Much Appriciated Reguards Richard

just wont to see if anybody else thinks the same as me about the ACU is it time for them to move over and get new blood into look at the trials seen.Is it full of old blokes that wont let go(it worked 40 years ago so it should work now)i have worked with guy that is putting a lot in to motox and trying new things that no one else has done thinking out side the box and it is working does trials need this.i think it does for sure.

Following on from the no-stop or stop British Championship issues is there a good way to communicate with and get the views of the riders and other interested people. Historically the meetings at Rugby to discuss such things are often poorly attended due to many reasons. A few are listed but I guess there's loads. It's too expensive to go. I am too busy to attend. If I go is it worth the effort. Will my views be taken into account as they are all old codgers. They only listen to what the top lads think. A big thank you to the ACU and both Pippa Laverty and Simon Welch for organising this. The first event was at Keypitts in Ilfracombe and my OH was very keen to go. It proved to be a very good weekend. Everyone was delighted that one of the trainers was Billy Green, who turned out to be a really nice bloke and a mega bonus for all the riders. It is also a great venue - I wish they would look at pay and play - I would love to ride there. If anyone is thinking of going to the other events I can tell you it is great and well worth the effort. There were a lot of youngsters at the Ilfracombe event and it was fantastic to see so much youth talent coming into our sport…

IMHO the system is in theory something like this rider => club => centre trials sub committee => centre => ACU national council => FIM => T & E committee => UEM for a variety of practical and theoretical reasons this doesn't appear to function well in practise IMHO how can 8 people relay the view of us all when there are 21 (?) centres out there, when the scope is so wide; club to international, a plethora of championships and governing a second sport (ie a trials only centre votes on enduro issues when they don't run enduros) how do other nations do it? …

I notice that Guisborough have been given the date of 25-07-10 for the John Hardaker Trial. This date clashes with the Reeth 3 Day weekend, as I guess both Trials will be directed at the same riders somebody somewhere is going to loose out.

When I started out all ACU licenses were done on the same form and up until quite recently this was still the case. Now the trials registration has been separated completely from the rest of the form. So my question is do I need both? When it was all on the one form you applied and paid for the highest level/most expensive license and that granted you any open licenses of a lower level. I have a road race national/international B that allowed me to get a motorcross novice, grass track etc and a trials license. Does the old system still apply? Would my road race license cover me for trials or do I have to buy a trials registration separately? If I have to do them separ…

As a spectator at the last event I had words with competitors that were larking around off course, and nearly run over by a child jumping his bike. Its not my place to tell them its a responsible parents job. If hit by a competitor who is doing stunts or practicing off section,( not just children,) am I or the competitor insured if any injuries are sustained? Some parents seem to let there children go off and try obstacles that arn't marked out for that meeting. Is this acceptable behaviour?

Well the Bill got through it's first stage yesterday and is now to go to committee. It's on it's way. So John what EXACTLY is the ACU doing / going to be doing to represent the interests of it's license holders? This bill will have an effect on just about every branch of two wheel sport of which the ACU is supposed to be the governing body. strangely enough this also includes mini moto competitions. I notice that some of the Spainish trial championship rounds have youth and Adults on the same weekend, so why can't we do that in this country? Some of the top youth riders ride in the Expert class anyway so nothing would be any different. You could also put some of the C/D and ladies rounds together on the same weekends. The whole British championship weekends would be much bigger events with say the B class lads riding on the Saturday, and then the A class doing the same sections as the Experts on the sunday, i know you could'nt do it at every round but i'm sure it would work at some. After all the Spainish do it that way and it has'nt done thier riders any harm. …

I applied for a competition licence to compete in Baja events in the UAE, as I have an ACU Trials Competition Licence the ATCUAE required a rider release letter from the ACU. I e-mailed the licence department in Rugby and got the necessary letter within hours. People are always quick to have a go at the ACU so its only fair that they deserve credit for giving such a good service to a member. On another note the cost of a ACU trials licence is a great dealer cheaper than a ATCUAE one. So well done the ACU.

has the acu made a decision on stop / no stop for next years youth championships ?

Just wondering what everyone's views are on the two different systems that operate in the UK? For those that don't know, ACU riders pay

Why can't minders in youth champs have bikes and sign on etc?

Are headsets allowed in the BTC?

Are bluetooth head sets allowed to be used in the adult british championship this year the book says yes
