Hi Guys. I’m getting to the end here I repaired my clutch basket got my kicker back in thank you for all the advice and help ! I notice a bunch of metal shavings from the end of that bolt that I used to lock the Crank and I want to flush the crank case cab or should I just pour in some diesel or parts cleaner , lift up the backend and it’ll flow out of that bolt hole on the front of the case , is that OK ? I’d rather not split the cases but I don’t want any metal getting in those bearings I assume there’s no liquid in the crankcase Other than fuel and two-stroke oil that comes in through the carburetter the only fluids I’m putting in the bike are …

A real noddy question I know but can someone tell me how to remove the condensor on my 1982 SWM 320? It looks like it is the original so has never been removed and it won't budge. I just can't see how it comes out of the mounting plate. Thanks Chris

I have just bought a TL320 '82 with Rotax engine. From a copy of a US maintenance manual I understand that there should be a kind of external stop for the kick starter to avoid damage to the left side engine (clutch-) cover. I can't see any such mechanism on my SWM. Could anyone please describe it for me - if possible with a picture too?

Hi All, While doing a pivot turn over a log on tl320 no. 2 I smacked the gearshift lever onto a branch stub bending the gearshifter in against the cases and twisting it. Even after gaining clearance from the case no more shifting and stuck in 1st gear. The impact was more or less straight onto the end of the shaft. Is it possible that it maybe worked back out to get end float clearance? Or is it likely that a shock to shift drum may have stopped it working. The kicker is still working fine and I'm assuming the gear shaft is not bent in side the kickshaft due to this. Any theories/ advice welcomed. While ive got your attention my no. 1 bike is leaking gearbox oil and…

hi guys, My understanding is that a swm 125 bottom end is identical to a 240/280. have i got that right? We have come across a 125 engine that would be a cheaper option than repairing the gear shaft on our 280 in the short term and eligible for my daughter to ride junior. A couple of questions. does the 280 exhaust fit the 125? Does the 280 top end fit straight on the 125 or do we need to machine the cases? What gearing is used on the 125? Any help appreciated. Cheers Mark

whilst competing sunday, on 2 separate occasions i had a nasty sounding noise from the gearbox.i sounds like a gear is trying to mesh with the one that is already in use. gear selection is fine. chain and sprockets are fine,ie not loose. was not kickstart being held back onto ratchet. obviously got to be opened up, am just after any clues once inside. thanks.

Just removed the rear wheel to replace the wheel bearings. I found a short 'sleeve' rattling around when the spindle was removed. So, should there be a full length sleeve between both wheel bearing inner races ? Has anyone got a photograph of the rear wheel set up ? Many thanks !

Hello, I would like to know if the rear shocks are suppose to be 14 inches long? Also, are they suppose to be mounted in the front mounting hole or the rear. There are two holes for mounting and my shocks which are 14 1/8 inches long are mounted in the rear position. Thanks, Scott

Does anyone have the correct sprocket sizes for the TL 125? Thanks.

  18. I've heard the use of blue frames was something to sponsership by 'Pernod'......or am I wrongly assuming its anything to do with a drink as I used to like a stiff Pernod and black when I was a yoof ...this bottle of my favorite Caister Soul Weekender tipple isn't really in SWM colours ...although from memory before mixing Pernod is a pale yellow as it is in this photo (unless it's someones 'sample') and there is blue in the 'Paris' on the bottle...bit tenuous though

Introducing myself because I've just brought a '82 320. Haven't rode for 20 years, now live in S.Wales so thought I'd buy a bike to do some trail riding before I get too decrepit (I'm 68!) to ride. Used to ride a Ossa MAR, never in comps though. Don't know much about the brand, apart from it's a pretty bike (shallow reason to buy, but you know!). The bike seems good for the price I paid. It's a bit visually challenged, seat vinyl torn, frame paint missing etc., but seems to run well. Has been used in trials, so I think it's ok mechanically. And some questions! Neutral seems hard to find when the engine is running, OK when engine stopped and slightly e…

Hi All, Just been out for a spin on my TL 320 and when loading the bike up in second on decent banks there was a slight clunk - like a quieter version of the a chain jumping the sprocket. 1st was Ok and bike is shifting smoothly etc. I have had the clutch apart recently to change springs and was wondering if the clutch basket nut may have come loose. Would it have those symptoms if this was the case or could the dogs on the gears have worn slightly in second? Any help appreciated.
