Aprilia

I just picked up a 93 Aprillia Climber last night. It’s in good original condition. Just needs some maintenance. It came with a lot of new and extra parts. I need to weld the tab for the rear fender mount. I noticed the swingarm is a little loose. Anyone know the bearing sizes or if there is a bearing, sleeve and seal kit for the swingarm?

Anyone else got one ?

I have a aprilia climber 280r. its got a few problems i am justs trying to sort out. One of them is the engine cooling system, under the fuel tank there is a little tank that i asume holds the anti freeze because it conects up to the line of the radiator at the front? The problem i am having is that i keep filling the tank up with antifreeze and it keeps draing out and it doesnt apear to be leaking out the bottem???? can anyone tell me the problem i have or is it suposed to happen? hello, My bike is, aprilia climber 240(1994) is spills oil from the gear/kickstart shaft, i think it spills it form between, what could it be? the other problem is that the gear shaft dislcoates from its place when applying little force on it towards the outside when trying to remove. please help! thankyou jose

I've been offered what will end up a very cheap Aprilia Climber in a deal but the owner is unsure of model year..........It's either late 80's or early 90's I think. I assume that I will need to get the frame number to date it accurately rather than just go by the colour scheme? If done by frame number can someone please point me in the direction of where / how to get it dated. My experience of Aprilia road bike dealers & spares availability has been pretty poor, so advice on who to contact if I need parts would also be gratefully received. Thanks

Recently purchased a climber 280 on line and i was wondering if any members had managed to find any manuals regaring this bike either on download or purchase.it seems the only info i can find seems to be on this forum.i know this bike is approx 1989 but surely there must be info out there reference oil/fuel mix, oil to be used in gearbox etc.also where to get spare parts, when i bought this bike it came with loads but where do you get brake pads from? any tips or info would be a great help!!

Where's the best place to find a not too costly service manual for the TX 311 M/1?

I recently got this climber 280. I'm told its a 91 or 92 but I cannot find any vin decoder to verify that. Can anyone familiar with them tell from the pictures what year it range it is? I'm doing a full fluids swap on it as its been sitting for about 2 years. What gear oil should viscosity should I be using? From my research I've just found people saying a wet clutch compatible oil but cannot find any specifics on the weight. It also looks like the forks are collapsed, I haven't had a chance to tear into them yet to see if anything is broken but wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone has run into something like this in the past before I go in blind. Hi , recently got into trials riding so purchased a Aprilia climber to start off on as it was cheap and in need of a bit of tarting up . I have stripped the forks down to find nothing about what oil to put back into them . They are Marzocchi 35mm stantions , they are on a 93 model too. Any help or info about this bike would be welcomed . Michael.

Hi all, I stripped down the forks of a 1993 Climber I am restoring to find a problem. As I have been unable to find any parts listing that shows the broken bit, I thought I should ask here. I have attached a photo for clarity. Also if anyone has any written (as in workshop info) relating to Foral forks, as fitted to Climbers until the last version in 1994, when Marzocchi's were used, I would be very grateful. Steve

Hello all Looking for advice on the best plan of action to repair/ replace my kickstarter ring ( the part that clamps onto the splined shaft coming out of the transmission). I noticed it was cracked into 2 peices . I had previously noticed the kick starter hitting the skid plate at the bottom of the kick stroke so I ground away some of the plate. It doesn't really engage until it the kick lever is parallel to the ground. Is it possible to advance the shaft ( counter clockwise ) when remounting the repaired kickstarter so it engages sooner and stops before hitting the skid plate ? or is this normal and not really what caused the crack? Hi I have the usual problem of the paint peeling of my fuel tank. Does anyone know of a product I can seal the tank with,. I know there are products for steel and fibreglass but I dont know of one for plastic. Thanks

I want to know if anyone has a list of parts that might cross over with other bikes or possibly even cars. I have started a list and have the rear wheel bearings and seals in there. I would like to know if the temp sending unit crosses over, any of the rotors swap out with other bikes, you know stuff like that. We can post it for all to see since parts are getting harder to come by. This is my first trials bike and am loving it, if I want to keep it running and maintained we will need to know where to get parts. I have seen it done with other older bikes and it works good. Hi Ive just bought a Yamaha TY250 Monoshock thats got Aprilia forks and front disk brake wheel in. I intend to convert the bike back to standard Yamaha and was going to put the Aprilia forks on e-bay but could do with some help in identifying which Aprilia they are from. The bike has the original Yamaha triple tree so the forks must be same diameter as Yamaha 35mm I think.
