OSET Electric Trials Bikes

Wondering if anyone can help me. My son has had a oset 20r for a couple of years now which we got second hand, 6 months ago he has blown the motor ( Burning type smell and smoke coming from it) We have been unsure about getting it fixed because of the cost of the new motor. Would this be sellable without been repaired and anyone got any idea of price that we could sell for . It worked fine before this happened and my son has had a growth spurt so no longer any good. It also has the boost battery. Cheers

Hi. I would like to change the original throttle from an Oset 20R 2017 to a Domino el- throttle. I do have the wiring chart for the Domino but not for the Oset original throttle. Does anyone have the wiring chart on the Oset original throttle they can share? The wiring have different colours, so I would need which colour goes where from the Domino to the Oset Throttle. Anyone done this modification and have any experience? Thanks

Hi all first post so hellooo.... I would like to get into the trials scene as I have recently bought my daughter a torrot and going anywhere with her on my ktm is a big no no these days so I am looking at getting the oset 24 but i am a little worried that being 6ft 2 it will be a bit small, is there anyone else this tall who has one? Are they ok and what mods can be done to make it ok for us lanky folk? I am in the weight limit so that is not a problem and I will also be getting a better battery for it so I'm just concerned about them being too small. Cheers ?

replaced the stock Oset 24r controller with a different model. installed potentiometers on the throttle's +5v and ground wire, and tweaked them until I managed to tame the acceleration to my liking, and vanish the dead band of the throttle, when applying power. measured the max amp draw at full throttle from stand still on a high traction surface (no wheel spin) - 55 amps. is this reasonable for this model? too low? too high?

Hi all. Playing with an idea at the moment, and hoping for a little advice. I think @gwhy may be the man. If possible I'd like to remove the 3 power dials and replace with a simple bar mounted switch and reduce it to 2 power modes. Sort of high/low torque. Does anybody know if this would be possible. And a follow up, I'd like an handlebar mounted battery monitor/SOC read out. Any ideas?. Thanks guys.

Hi all. After some help with adding a Kelly controller to a mx10 (they use the Same loom ect as the 24 r). Has anyone on here done the mod yet? elliott

Tonight I noticed the relay has been clicking away on the bike while it was unattended. Upon closer inspection the battery switch was in the on position, the ignition key was in the off position, the kill switch lanyard was in position, and the lights on the throttle housing were flashing erratically. Twisting the throttle resulted in the rear wheel turning, even though the ignition switch was off. The only way to switch the power off is to either put the switch on the battery in the off position or remove the the kill switch lanyard. Can anyone help me with this odd issue please? I'm looking at these bikes used and haven't been able to find many answers about this. I see used bikes listed at around $3,500. From what little info I could find, the battery packs cost $800-1,200 and wear out in a few years. If that is true, that price isnt really a discount if the bike is a couple years old. Is that info accurate? Also is the battery pack easily swappable? Seems like that would be a nice way to keep riding vs putting it up for the day. Thanks.

I signed up for newsletter updates on the Oset site. The 24 looks great but I'm having a hard time figuring out the size compared a full-sized bike. I suppose 24 means 24" wheels? Bought an Oset 24.0R to ride with my grandson. Nice and quiet so I can talk to him when he rides. It's a lot of fun but not a replacement for a gas bike. At least not for a heavy adult. i raised the handlebars and put a wider rear tire on the rear. Mostly just to make it look "right".

I need to purchase male and female throttle connector set used in the OSET24 bikes. A photo is attached for reference. Basically I need to work out a male to female (small extension lead) that would enable me to take throttle voltage measures for another project. Did anyone ever manage to source these connectors?

Hi all. Thinking of fitting a smaller sprocket to the rear for trail riding. Hoping it will put less stress on the motor while at a semi high constant speed. Any suggestions on which size sprocket to go for?. Many thanks.

good evening all. I have a query regarding brake rotors on the 24. The bike came with 180mm rotors F+R, But i have noticed one or two guys swapping them out for 203mm. Is there any real benefit to this? I understand why its done on mountain bikes, and i also understand the basic theory behind putting bigger rotors on cars and motor bikes. But is there any real benefit to be gained from installing them to the oset? All of the "proper" trials bikes i see, (sherco, beta, etc) all have tiny rear discs. In short, will i get a better bite from a 203 rear rotor over a 180? Thank you all in advance.

Hi all. Has anyone perhaps fitted an bigger ( 11T ) front sprocket to their 24? If so, was there a recognizable difference? Would like to lower the RPM on the motor slightly for the odd occasions when riding some MTB trials. The idea is not to increase speed so much but rather have less stress on the motor when riding some downhill or level sections. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

Hi all. Firstly let me apologise if this is a dumb question. If at all possible, i would like a way of limiting the power of the 24r for trail riding. sort of a low power mode, Somewhere in the range of 250w - 500w to make it sort of legal to ride trails. I know its not going to be strictly legal in a de-tuned mode, But the idea behind it is, I would like to ride it in a "trials" way at weekend, but then have the ability to switch to a low power mode to limit the draw on the battery and improve range. I would have thought a 48v 23ah battery could potentially power and ebike for quite a fair few miles. The main question i am asking is this: can i do the above using the cur…

Hi all, Got the oset out this morning but the motor is totally seized. When it got put away everything was working perfectly, so strange that its now seized. Even with molegrips on the sprocket it wont budge Im guessing it a new motor, but anyone had similar? Ive never had a trials bike cost me as much as this Oset! Cheers Wayne.

I got the bike built and it is working pretty well. To make this work I: 1. Stretched the swingarm 3". 2. Bought the beefiest 36 spoke 26" bicycle wheel I could find. 3. Laced the wheel to the stock Oset rear hub in a 4-cross pattern using DT Swiss butted spokes (13 ga. at the end like stock, 14 ga in the middle). 4. Added 6" to the chain. 5. Bought a standard front wheel for downhill bikes (26" for 20mm through axle). 6. Put in 4 EarthX LifePo4 12V 24 aH batteries and made vacuum molded custom plastic shells for them. 7. Hi Has anyone else had this problem with their Oset? My Son was riding in a trial when the bike stopped, Red indicator light showed 3 Reds,Dropping to 1 when any throttle was applied.Further investigation revealed that the chain had come off, I refitted the chain to the rear sprocket but noticed that their was approx 25 mm of play in the chain at mid position. I adjusted out the play to 1-2 mm as per manual,This was a very big adjustment on the rear wheel, I am used to making slight adjustment that are required to eliminate the chain touching the plastic chain guard. Upon turning the throttle the Red light dropped to 1 with only a slight Forward movement of the Bike.…
