OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by dougstar,

Hi, As the title says really who's done it and what sort of issues did you come up against in the process ? Basically I have been in two minds to go down the petrol or electric route as a starter for my 8yr old, really not many decent petrol ones around (been searching for couple of months) unless you start spending £1k + and then you still dont know what sort of a life they have had ! Then of course after watching a few recent trials all the kids seem to be on these Oset bikes and looks like this is the way forward but after being brought up on petrol bikes I suppose that's why I wanted to smell the 2stroke bliss again but that coupled with the obvious noise differen…

I have a breakdown in the promax brake caliper, which are not sold separately and have the characteristic of using dot 4. Because of this, several scenarios present themselves to me. 1. Get an AVID JUICY clamp that is in good condition and enter dot 4. 2. repair the one I have, but I don't think it will work. 3. Change the entire system of both wheels for shimano. Has anyone had to change the brake system?

Ok I have just bought my son a 16 racing and want a spare set of batteries, can't really justify buying a boost battery at the moment, can anybody point me to some decent standard batteries online? Thanks.

Hello guys, I bought a new "upgrade" chain kit for my 2011 oset 16". So bigger chain. The shop confirms me its OK but I doubt that there is to much play between chain and chainring. The owner isn't in till next week so I cant double check with him. Could any of you please check if it is the same on a new model Oset 16"? See pic and movie https://youtu.be/nnnaTCFe8kc Big thanks!

replaced the stock Oset 24r controller with a different model. installed potentiometers on the throttle's +5v and ground wire, and tweaked them until I managed to tame the acceleration to my liking, and vanish the dead band of the throttle, when applying power. measured the max amp draw at full throttle from stand still on a high traction surface (no wheel spin) - 55 amps. is this reasonable for this model? too low? too high?

Hi anyone on here any advice on which forks etc will improve the handling of the OSET 16?? Ive found a Rock shox rear shock which with a little engineering will work but I'm unsure which front forks I could use from say a mountain bike, Rock Shox, Fox or similar? Are they sized as 20" then? 1 1/8 steerer? It just seems to me that once the rider has progressed to a reasonable level the bike is letting him down, as the suspension doesnt damp like it should but rather just springs and bounces around lifting the wheel off the ground and losing traction. I dont want to spend a fortune as I am rather hoping his legs will grow and next season get him a petrol bike. Any ide…

  7. Hi, I put new grips on my son's 36v bike and now the throttle comes in at half power making it impossible to ride. The grip that I put on the throttle did require a bit of force to go on and I'm concerned I have damaged the throttle position sensor, I have not looked at taking it to pieces yet but was hoping there would be an easy fix before having to strip it. Any advice would be appreciated, cheers, Mark.

I need help. Live in New Zealand, ordered what I was told was a new OSET 12.5 for my 4 year old's birthday, well the bike arrived 2 days before weekend, I unpacked box and put batteries on charge, I could tell it'd been stored for some time. I headed off to work. Friday afternoon, set about fully assembling bike, all good except I couldn't get it to run!. The batteries charge when connected. The key clicks the relay, but no lights on twist throttle. Get a voltage tester out, strip down the bike - seats and covers etc. Can trace voltage into the Controller 24v, and up to twist throttle 24v ( 2 wire connecter), 4.5 v from 3 wire connecter. Anyway nothing makes it go, so …

Hello, Anyone here has positive experience in recovering a LiPO batt with 1 defective cell? I read you have to charge it in NcCd function without the ballance connector. But I really have no tension at all in the dead cell. The dead cell is not swollen.... Shall I try or just recycle it.... Greets

So I'm looking to ride some local mountain bike trails and workout my working line German shepherd. Just discovered electric trials bikes today, and been looking at osets 20/24s. Would these bikes work for this purpose? I may try some light trialing, but what attracted me to these is they look like mountain bikes. There's no laws against electric bikes here on trails here in Kansas. but between the dog and the bike, I'm just not trying to attract to much attention so that people will complain. people generally don't care bout that kinda stuff around here anyways. Any advice is appreciated!

Hi all, I am looking for a little help with my daughters 2007 16. 24v. I recently purchased a new throttle assemble for the bike from the UK as we don't have the dealer network here in New Zealand. The original throttle. The new assembly. The dealer sent me the newer version assembly with a different connector but also the corresponding connector half to replace the one on the bike. After fitting the new part I found that the bike runs fine but the LED display on the throttle is not illuminated. Has anyone come across this before? I am wondering if I missed something or have received a faulty throttle assembly possibly? The dealer stated that this throttle woul…

Hi all, I've recently bought a 2nd hand 20 racing, I believe 2016, when you open the throttle there is a very slight hesitation, its all the way through the range and adjusting the response doesn't seem to get rid of it, is this normal? my son doesn't seem notice it but it is there and must be hindering his riding. Also how to people wash their bikes? I've been told a jet wash isn't the thing to do. thanks for any help Wayne

Hi All I have a new 16 36V Oset and im not sure about the batteries... On full charge they last for about 40 minutes to an hour then the light drops from 3 to 2 and the power reduces considerably. My son rode it yesterday at trials practise and thats when we noticed the power drop after 40 minutes although he was riding in the wet mud. The same happened today but he was running mainly on tarmac hence the 60 minutes before drop out. I charged it up fully overnight last night and it seems to have lasted a bit longer, we will have another go tomorrow. Is the sudden drop in power normal...? Nick

Just got a 16 24v and was suprised to read in the manual that the tyre pressures should be 30-40 PSI front and rear. Is that the right setup for trials? Many thanks in advance.

2011 oset 16 36V it's looking like the chain is rubbing one of the motor mount bolts. Chain doesn't feel overly loose, not sure what else to check. Anyone any suggestions? Thanks.
