Being tight, I didn't fancy paying £20+ for a kill switch for my lads Oset so did a bit of research.... You can get one of these on eBay for £1.99. From China, but came within a couple of weeks. Maybe worth buying a couple or three to given you some spare caps. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371211083911?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT#ht_9710wt_1033 Problem is these are for a petrol bike, hence work the wrong way round. With the lanyard cap attached the switch is open curcuit, pull it of and it closes. Strip it and it looks like this inside: - You can buy a replacement button/switch that operates the correct way (i.e lanyard cap fitted …

Hi, just tried to connect an oset lanyard to my son 16”. I tried a petrol bike one and that was working backwards, so changed it for a Oset one. now, when I connect it it does not work at all, why is that? What I did was removing the key switch which was not needed and connected the two wires straight into the lanyard wires. shoulnt the oset lanyard close a circuit between the two wires when it’s clipped on? what am I missing? the bike is an older model equipped with Kelly controller and OEM throttle

HI Has anyone installed a LIPO battery upgrade. There is a company called boost bikes or boost batteries on ebay that are selling them. Does anyone have any knowledge of them, they look perfect for the job. Is it really worth the money?? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hi-Power-Oset-16-36v-Lithium-Ion-Lipo-Battery-Pack-10Ah-1-4-weight-4x-Runtime-/131403473119?

I thought I'd share a recent near miss I had with some lipo batteries whilst attempting to convert our little lads 12.5 from lead to lipo....... After running a 36v (pairs of 5s batteries in series) 16" bike on lipo for a while with no problems I decided to get some for the young un's 12.5. Went for some of these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__56843__Multistar_High_Capacity_6S_8000mAh_Multi_Rotor_Lipo_Pack.html which, after careful measuring, seemed like they would fit nicely. Once they arrived I taped them together, wrapped them in some 8mm foam and duct taped them up. Trying them in the bikes battery tray they were a good fit, just dropping in under the…

My 8 year-old son enjoys trials events on his 36v 20" Oset but also has the desire to "go fast". So, is like to get more speed out of his bike. I know that larger rear sprockets are available but have not found smaller sprockets. Also looking for 20" street tires. Any advice or leads are appreciated.

Hi All, Anyone had this one? While riding today, bike lost power and intermittently now works. With the batteries fully charged and the throttle showing full power, the rear wheel won't spin. If I lift the rear wheel off the ground and spin it by manually it will start spinning albeit a lot slower than it should be. As soon as the throttle shut off, it won't spin up again unless I spin it manually again. It sounds like motor brushes to me, but can anyone confirm? Cheers all, Wayne.

Evening all. Has anyone had experience of servicing the 48v Oset motor? The bike is a 2016 20.0 racing. I have noticed the bearings getting noisy and from reading comments by a couple of the electric bike gurus on this forum it sounds as if there may be dirt/damage inside. While slowly rotating the back wheel with chain still attached there is quite noticeable points of increased resistance. I have seen that i can purchase bearings and brush set from Oset for quite a sensible price and currently deciding weather to strip the motor and give it a service or send it away to someone more familiar with the inner workings. Thank you all for your time. Mike.

Our 2007 OSET 16 24V has seen a bit of use now and has had a few electrical component issues along the way, but has been quite sturdy mechanically until the drive pin for the motor sprocket sheared recently. My 21kg son was riding in a manner I consider quite normal at the time, practicing crossing timber railway sleepers on a gentle uphill slope. I know it is quite a simple job to replace the drive pin, but am wondering if it is a common failure or not, to help me decide whether I should use a different type of drive pin or the same again. The drive pin that it came with from new is a 3mm diameter steel roll pin.

Hi, got the oset out the other day, its been sat in the shed for 6 month and its been really cold here in the UK, tried charging them and the green light comes on to say there done after a few mins, took both batteries out and stuck them on my optimate 4 one by one for around 12 hours each and still nothing, no lights, no click of the relay, nothing, checked all the wiring too. The batteries are 4 year old so they could do with been replaced anyway but just want to make sure there dead and its not something else, so any tests I can do on the batteries with the multimeter ? I've never used it before.

Morning. Were experiancing a 30% power loss on our oset 20R across the board Id like to check the motor by powering it directly from the battery. How do we do that. There are 2 leads from the motor. Which one goes to the live which ones goes to the earth. Or if thats not how you do it, how do you check it is operating correctly. Fault. We upgraded to lithium batteries as the old lead ones had started to loose charge quickly and at that time noted the bikes top speed was around 16-17 mph and bike revved well . We upgraded to lithium and the speed increased to 19mph and low and high end torque also improved. However we pulled the bike out for a ride after putting i…

Hi All my lad has a 36v OSET which we have had for 8 months with no problems. We were competing this weekend and the throttle just cut out. Will reset if turned off and on again but cuts out instantly if throttle snatched or at about 1/3 throttle if wound up very slowly. Shows all 3 lights on throttle and had only run for about half hour after an all night charge so dont think it the batteries . Have had all connectors apart and appear to be ok . Could it be throttle itself or motor controller??? . Problem did occur shortly after bike had been dropped in a stream but motor or electrics were not submerged at all and ran for about ten minutes after before problem occured .…

Hi all. I have a 2017 Oset 24R and i would like to get more power from it. Any suggestions? I am not averse to ripping the entire motor and controller set up out and starting again. I would like more range, but definitely more torque. Thanks guys.

Hoping someone has come across this and found the cause. 2015 oset 20R one day working perfect, the next on turning the throttle there is a momentary lurch , wheel turns slowly about a half turn, then nothing. Lights show full charge, batteries are charged and balanced and showing 48v at the switch. I've tried unplugging each of the controllers, speed power and throttle response as suggested elsewhere. No difference. All connections appear ok beyond that, stumped!!

Hello from Scotland, I have just acquired 2x 20.0s and now realise that I'll be needing a second set of batteries. I'm not yet ready for lipo. I see I can buy from Oset at £39.99, or from intamicro https://www.intamicro.co.uk/p-653-rec10-12-yuasa-battery-12v-10ah.aspx for £24.99. probably elsewhere too. As I am buying two sets, the price difference is significant. Anyone know a reason not to go with the cheaper supplier? Also, what is the perceived wisdom regarding off-bike charging? I was thinking of buying a socket like on the bike and simply attaching it to the batteries. Can anyone point me to a source for the socket? Can I balance the current and future batt…
