OSET Electric Trials Bikes

In the picture is my daughters 16.0 36v Oset and as you can see I need help. I have upgrated it with a lithium ion battery and a Kelly controller. After installing the Kelly controller the bike ran fine for about two months but then it suddenly stopped working. After some measuring I suspected the controller so I contacted Kelly and got some help from them to search for the fault. I finally got the advice to disconnect the relay and connect power directly to the controller. And with -36v to B- on the controller and +36v to B+ and pin9 on the controller (for powering the controller) the bike works (the key switch doeant work). I also disconnected the wire from the re…

Did someone try bypassing the Relay, and directly connecting the wires together? My relay is bad, so I tried that on the Oset 24r, but unfortunately, the bike is not responding to throttle commands this way. Rest of the lights (battery indicator, 48v feeding the relay from the controller) work well.

Hi there, looking to upgrade the batteries of my son 36v 16" oset, with Kelly controller. My main goal is range, so something to last a bit longer, rather than high discharge stuff at all costs. I am looking at chainging the colour of my daughters 16" Oset as she would like a more girly colour, I was wondering is anyone has tried spraying a trials bike mudguard? Is there a paint that is flexible enough to stay on without cracking? Pete

I got the bike built and it is working pretty well. To make this work I: 1. Stretched the swingarm 3". 2. Bought the beefiest 36 spoke 26" bicycle wheel I could find. 3. Laced the wheel to the stock Oset rear hub in a 4-cross pattern using DT Swiss butted spokes (13 ga. at the end like stock, 14 ga in the middle). 4. Added 6" to the chain. 5. Bought a standard front wheel for downhill bikes (26" for 20mm through axle). 6. Put in 4 EarthX LifePo4 12V 24 aH batteries and made vacuum molded custom plastic shells for them. 7. Now that the ACU are issuing licences to 4 year olds on electric trials bikes, I was wondering what sort of take up I would have if I staged an event aimed at these riders. Would anyone be interested in a trial in the Costwold/Evesham area where the entries were restricted to Conducted riders on Osets, Auto 50's and TY80's? It would probably be on a Saturday, have eight sections each with two routes. Begginer and Experienced. Each section would be ridden three times by each rider before moving on to the next section. At the end of the trial, the first three in each class would be awarded a trophy. I would only charge the bare minimum to cover costs; permit, land hire …

Hi. My 5 y/o son has an Oset 16.0 racing and loves spending every spare minute on it. The "throttle" has always troubled me though, and having had no previous experience with e-bikes of any description and no ability to benchmark against other bikes, I need the help of forum members to ascertain whether the characteristics of his bike are normal or not.. From a stand-still all the way to full power the "throttle" behaves as expected and can be modulated well with a corresponding increase in speed at the rear wheel, HOWEVER when winding off the "throttle" from any position the speed/power cannot be modulated other than to eventually fully stop the transmission of power …

That is the question, I can not decide so please help if you had similar problem when choosing the first bike for your child. He is on his second push bike already on "16 wheels. Prefers to rides bigger now. He will hold the weight of oset16 when stationary at the shop, but not sure he will manage in slow turns or over obstacles. 12.5 seems too small but sales person at the shop advice is to get 12 for him for one year. Unfortunatelly can not find anywhere he could try both near London. He was on Kuberg trailE at bike show but that was too tall.

Hi, Just bought two Oset 16 24v, one is a year old and one is two years old, someone pls explain this to me, charged the same battery same amount, the older bike got about battery 3 hours in the forest while next day the newer bike lasted 1 hour and half tops. Cheers Confused.com

I put this here rather than in the trials gear section due to it aimed more towards oset sized children. I've took the plunge and ordered a 12.5 oset, will take delivery in a week and a half.. But now the hard part in sourcing the kit to protect him. I need to find a trials helmet small enough to fit on my 25 month old son's head. He is quite big for his age I would say, although I've yet to look at his bike helmet size I just want to know what helmets you guys use and the smallest fitting? My local dealer stocks wulf sport, and their smallest size is 54cm.. I think that may be a little too big, is there any smaller sizes such as xxs? As for armour, would you recome…

Bit of background first my son is 8 and has been riding autos since he was about 3. A few months back we got a 2018 oset 20r which has a boost bikes Lipo battery. Trouble is we are finding it REALLY hard to get to grips with the bike, I've ridden it myself and can see where he's coming from. I know it's not a petrol bike so it will be different but I will try to explain the problem... Its all to do with the throttle control and how the power surges very quickly with no build up whatsoever. I have followed the development of the Oset bike for some years now, mostly with a tear in my eye thinking "where were these when i was 8". I would like to get into the trials scene as I have recently bought my daughter a torrot and going anywhere with her on my ktm is a big no no these days so I am looking at getting the oset 24 but i am a little worried that being 6ft 2 it will be a bit small, is there anyone else this tall who has one? Are they ok and what mods can be done to make it ok for us lanky folk? I am in the weight limit so that is not a problem and I will also be getting a better battery for it so I'm just concerned about them being too small. Cheers ?

Has anyone done it yet? I have a 20" and it is absolutely amazing. It has way more power than an 80cc bike, great suspension and light weight. For my previous electric bike builds I have a bunch of 6s1p and 3s1p packs. Oset US turned me on to a drop in solution that uses Lifepo4s packaged as a direct replacement for Osets. They even sell them in a kit with batteries and charger. They are very cool as they have a battery management system built in so they are as easy to charge as the standard Oset SLAs. My son is eight and is the final year of the D Class. He is a reasonably good little rider, riding the hard route in OSET Cup events and in Adult events the Sportsman route. Due to his physical size we haven't moved onto a Beta 80 like the majority of his friends. OSET bikes have been fantastic for us, he has had the 12.5R, the 16R and now the 20R but now his friends are on petrol hikes and he is getting flustrated with the bike. He finds it hard to find traction despite me running about 2 to 6psi, depending on the conditions and venue.
