OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by Yjo,

Well folks, I bought an old oset off a friend without doing any research, what can I say, it was before Christmas and I was panicking! Anyway, it's the 24v 500 Oset 16 Spider but I bought a 36v Boost bike battery which certainly peps it up a little (a lot). Pretty quick top end, actually quicker than my 24r to be fair, the 24r is carrying me tho, and I'm definitely at the top end of 90kgs. After breaking small 9mm chain earlier today (I'm pretty sure it was fairly old) I was thinking of upgrading to a heavy duty sprocket and chain set (9T front and 68T rear) but I'm not sure if the sprocket will fit the front motor as it doesn't had the D shaped fitting. I've asked t…

I'm thinking of switching my son's oset 20 to a thumb throttle to avoid whiskey throttle. He's had one incident already and if it keeps happening and he gets hurt, he may not be so keen on riding, which would be terrible. He is familiar with a thumb throttle from his quad. But since no one does this, its probably a bad idea, but I don't understand why?

Posting here as there doesn't appear to be a Mecatecno section. Is @Andystill running the show?🤩 I bought a Mecatecno T08 for my 4 year old grandson, it came from an auction (unseen, impulse buy!) and has cleaned up really well for an old bike. Replaced both levers, unseized the front forks and cleaned all the electrical connections ready for two new 9.0Ah batteries, which are on order. The only things I need now are a charger and I believe it might be missing a return spring for the front brake. Just wondering whether parts are interchangeable with other electric bikes, does anybody know. I can't find any information on the UK importer except that it used to be…

I just bought a used Oset 12.5R for son #2 (shhhh, Xmas present). Needs new ti res. The stock tires are 12x2.4 (64-203mm). There are some smokin' deals on ebay for tires labeled 12 1/2" x 2 1/4". Two tires and two tubes for $23 shipped. Will 12.5" tires fit and is this why the bike model is a 12.5?

So I put a new bearing in my oset 16 36v motor 2012 and now it runs in reverse. What might I of done wrong?? I had both sides of the motor off, it was tricky putting the 4 springy things back on (technical term there), I think they all went on properly and as far as I was concerned I didn't touch or change any wires??.......HELP

Hi All, First post here in the Oset forum. I had a 314Cota some time back, and was happy that my old username still worked. Does anyone know if any of the true mx / dirtbike tires will fit the width of the rims on a 12.5 Oset? The stock tires are great in the driveway and lawn, but we just cleared some area at the back of the yard that is pretty slick clay on all but the driest days. Open to thoughts - Thanks, Pete

Hi guys, I will ask the question on this thread as it to do with electric bikes, and the question is what is a 25Kw motor bike ? my friend is filling in a license application form to obtain a motor bike license in which one of the tick boxes reads are you applying for a provisional license to ride up to a 25Kw bike he asked me how big is that, but I don't have a clue, does anybody have any pointers on this.

I have used the search facility (but as a techno phone ) without success.. Does anybody use a 24.0 R for adult trials ? Is it compliant with regs (minimum weight , tyre size etc) As a worn out old codger I was considering having a wobble around easy rout adult trials on something really light , and by the looks of them , well capable trailer .. Thanks in advance D.

  14. I recently purchased from Facebook marketplace a 2010 OSET 16 24v. I think? The controller has a born on date of 2010. I bought a 48-72v step down to 24v 40a converter. I use a ego 56v batteries which can put out 50amps. It works fantastic, with a little better performance then stock due to lithium battery. My question is, is there anyone with experience putting more volts to the controller then 24v? Looking to get a little more out of it's performance. Thank you again for all the support. I didn't even think I would get an answer. I got a discussion! Gonna stick with what it is setup as now. Hope he hits a growth spurt soon.

Have just fitted some shimano slx hydraulic brakes to a 2015 16.0R. Well worth the purchase. When your buying try to get a 1000mm left hand lever. This will fit perfect on the back. Shortening the front pipe is then simple and can be done without the need to fully bleed them if your careful. Chain reaction cycles and bike-discount.de are about the cheapest. Also fitted a boost battery lithium battery. Easy to fit with all connectors and 7.2 kg lighter.

  16. Our 2007 OSET 16 24V has seen a bit of use now and has had a few electrical component issues along the way, but has been quite sturdy mechanically until the drive pin for the motor sprocket sheared recently. My 21kg son was riding in a manner I consider quite normal at the time, practicing crossing timber railway sleepers on a gentle uphill slope. I know it is quite a simple job to replace the drive pin, but am wondering if it is a common failure or not, to help me decide whether I should use a different type of drive pin or the same again. The drive pin that it came with from new is a 3mm diameter steel roll pin.

  19. Hi See attached pics from the recent strip down of my little ones OSET it was cheap due to being left in the rain being uncared for by its first owner. It worked fine which is a testament to the bikes reliability but it needed a restoration so rather than forking out the $$$ for a new 2015 model daddy hit ebay! Rebuild pics to follow!
