  4. I can balance fairly well with the front wheel turned to either side. However, I'm working on balancing with the front wheel straight. I noticed that pushing down on the handlebar while sticking a leg out helps regain balance. Is this the right technique ? pushing down on the handlebar ? Should I shift my weight to the side of the bike more instead of pushing down on the handlebar while raising a leg out to regain balance ? (my knees don't like this technique much though). What have you guys found work best ?

Hi, a popular pro technique now a days is to balance on the rear wheel and hop in place, see in this nice video http://www.photobysergio.fr/jimmy-video-rudolphe.html Anybody on this forum has mastered this and can explain how to go about acquiring the technique? Cheers, Fons.

I started riding 3 1/2 years ago as an adult on a KLX300r on single track trails in Michigan. The seat is too tall for a beginner but I work with what I've got. The good side is it forced me into a parking lot for practice, which I enjoy. For the first couple years I carved a LOT of figure 8s and Uturns off road and on pavement. Lately I'm practicing almost exclusively motor police style slow riding. I'm hoping for some tips on using the dirt bike for trials style balance practice. Owning a trials bike isn't practical right now. I find slow riding on the seat is easier than standing on the pegs. Should balancing from the pegs be easier? On youtube I see the b…

Hi just wondered if anybody knows of any training days going on in the North of England, I would love to get some decent teaching to bring me on and just for the fun of it. Doesn't have to be a "big name" even if its just a club training session, I've been trialling for about 18months but don't get out often enough and practice just doens't happen really. any help appreciated. Thanks

I've been practicing hopping the front wheel and getting better every time. However, I find that hopping to the right (rear brake side) is almost impossible. Is the technique different when hopping to the right vs the left ?

Probably a stupid question , but, on average, how long does a full fuel tank last on different types of trials bikes?

Hi All, I am currently attempting to teach my son the basics of riding, in the garden still at the minute (waiting for membership for estc club to come through). I have got him practicing tight turns round old swarfega tubs ( abut 2 meters apart) which he is getting much better at - but how do I explain slipping the clutch a little to him?? - Is this something he needs to learn right now or should I let him get on with enjoying himself!! He can ride down the patio steps (about 3 foot) and he's been over an old log which he loves doing, but I want him to learn the basics early on and not being a rider myself (not trials)am looking for ways / exercises to help him, might…

Howdy, I have to have a total knee replacement and I was wondering if anyone else has had one and gone back to riding? Specifically: How long until you were competitive again?,What things could you not perform that you could before?, Any other words of wisdom? Thanks in advance for the information.

I have been competing in trials for the past 4 years and stalling fives are ruining my scores. Apart from a faster tick-over I have been avoiding my back break hindering my riding in other ways. Any advice please.

I had never seen balance training like this. I think it would be beneficial for trials.

I was out at the weekend just generally mincing around and started to try and tackle a small rock on a flat surface. I was trying a small wheelie over it. A guy who had been watching me came over to offer some advice. He said I need to give it a 'blip' and not wanting to sound like an idiot I just agreed. He then pointed to a small step up and said that I could tackle that with a 'double blip'. So when he said blip, is that just a bit of throttle to get the wheel up, then shut off and role over the rock? Or wheel up and shut off when over the rock? Not sure of the correct technique. Thanks
