The spring loaded pawls in the selector mechanism have a cut-out. Should this face inward to the spring or outwards to the drum?

Has any one made a clutch spring compressor tool for the pin style clutches? I would love to get the dimension and make one up. It is really difficult to push in springs and pull the tiny pins with the motor in the frame. PS Going to look at a Montesa Cota 348 tomorrow. Any tips or part sources in Canada/ USA? Thanks Sunny

Hi guys and gals, new to the forums and want to share an observation. I was once blessed with both a model 116 350 Alp and a model 85 250 Alp. Both used the stock Amal carb and to my knowledge were set up correctly in regards to timing, fueling etc. The model 85 RIPPED and had great midrange and top end power...the thing was like a rocket ship when wound up. The 350 was more like a tractor, lots of power but not nearly as wicked. It was almost 4 stroke like with a wide, consistent power band I didn't expect out of a larger displacement version of the previous motor. Is there one single difference (like the 116s massive, ridiculous flywheel and count…

I've tried to remove the threaded studs from my front and rear brake back plates (that the torque arms bolt to) because I want to clean them up and get them re-plated. However they are absolutely solid and I couldn't get them to budge. Am I right in thinking that they will be threaded into the alloy back plates? Has anyone got any tips on how to remove them? Thanks!

  12. I need tech advice or knowledge to find if Alpina tank and seat will fit onto a model 92 Sherpa T trials bike for trail riding. I saw an article about Sherpa Himalaya and I believe it states that the 1973 team used Sherpa model 125 and fitted Alpina tank/seat.

I know there are a lot of posts here about bultaco clutch but I just can't seem to get it 100% it seems to engage as when I have it pulled there is no compression . When i go into first it wants to pull away abit , normal ? Once I'm in first it's hard to get back into neutral and when I have it in gear and clutch pulled in the bike doesn't roll freely really hard to push and there's a squeek coming from the magneto side of the engine . Any suggestions ? Have to adjust the screw right up to pushrod to even get it to engage at all ...

The clutch on my M80 slips when I kick it over - not all the time but enough to make it a pain. When its running its not a problem. What's the best thing to do? Fit new plates or springs or both? Not cheap especially if I need a special tool to remove the pins. Any advice welcome. Cheers

Hi All, i have been running my 198A for a couple of years but only about 5 or 6 trials a year i have always been content with the carburation, however i do feel it could be better. The bike richens up a little on acceleration and does not really clear, also if i run the smaller pilot jet as the manual states the mixture screw is wound virtually all the way in, hence the move to a 25, which allows mixture screw to be approx 1 turn out. all components are in very good condition or new, carb is clean and in very good condition, the slide should be a 3 but i found a 3.5 gave smoother running? if i switch back to a 3 then it is quite lumpy low down am i missing something…

Ok I've had my m91 250 for a couple of years now and after two trips to the French 4 day she is deffinatly ready for a rebuild. Just wanted some advice on the piston, my dad has a 340 and says to go for a mahle just wondered if anyone had tried anything else and with what result? Also going to replace the carb, is dellorto the carb of choice and if so would I stick to a 26 or up to a 28? Also would anyone happen to know the standard shock length on a m91? It seems I bottom the rear end out more than expected and as the shocks aren't standard I wondered if this could be a factor.
