I'm thinking of having a go at trilas riding and as I own a couple of Ossa Road and Road Race bikes its got to be an OSSA for the dirt. After 35 years of riding on the road a recent go at a twin shock trial on an Yam TY 175 was a batism of fire for me, with everything I though I knew about riding a bike being turned on its head. I'm thinking of getting either a TR77 or a TY 80. Reeding different comments on the web there seems to be some issues with the handling of the TY 80 but no one seems to say exactly what or why it has issues. I know Mick Andrews didn't like it but again I don't know why. Can anyone shed some light on the what were the 'issues' wit…

Just added a section to my website on identifying model years based on VIN and motor number. See it here: https://www.ossa-efi.com/home/factory-documentation/model-year-identification I would love to gather more examples, and possibly even create a registry of where bikes are roughly located. If you don't want to share your complete VIN, even the 10th character would be helpful. Likewise for the motor number, the two characters after the "I" would be helpful. I'm especially interested in finding examples from 2015. Feel free to contact me by PM.

After replacing the rear suspension arms on my 2012 bike due to the main pin snapping, I ordered some new swinging arm bolts as the heads where a bit chewed up, I've just come to replace them and the have both shered off at the end of the threads. I've looked at the shocker and the spring is only hand tight can anymore tell me what the measurement of the spring should be with the shocker off the bike from the factory. Once I get that sorted and tightened up will i be ok to use the Alu swinging arm bolts I've just got or should I look for some steel replacements ?

I think the Ossa looks to be very innovative and cool. But I have a question about the frame. I have done some research and am unable to find the answer. Frame: CR-MO steel tube profile with pipe and bottom made of cast aluminium So how are these cast aluminum pieces attached to the CR-MO steel tubes? I can't see any bolts. Am i blind, daft or just missing something? Also any concern of damage to the lower portion of the fuel tank with having the skid plate mounted to it? Could be quite a bit of stress on the lower part of fuel tank with the skid plate being bashed and bending around a bit.

I just acquired a 72 MAR that seems in pretty good shape. It does smoke a bit and drip some oil so I understand that I need to do the crank seals and gaskets. What special tools do I need to do this? Also any tips would be greatly appriciated. When it is all tight, what is best to run in the gear box? I have some Redline MTL. It was missing the decompressor but I found one NOS. Does the decompressor go in the hole at an angle to the ground? Thanks for any help on this. Jim in Folsom, CA

I want to lower the footpegs. The bottom of the pegs in the new position would be just above the skidpad level so the pegs will only be 1 1/2 or 2 inches lower. My question is about the affect this would have on operating the rear brake pedal. In the current position for the pegs, it seems like I am reaching down for the brake pedal but don't know if reaching up is good. Is there a way to modify the brake pedal. It is so well protected now. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

I am possibly looking at purchasing a 72 MAR from a fellow. The only issue is one of the cross over tubes is loose and leaks fuel. Does anyone know if that is a major issue and a common problem on these? I am not sure if the tube is just loose in the tank or the tank itself has been damaged but if it is just loose it seems like it would be a fairly easy fix. Anyone out there have any experience with this and what steps to take to fix it? Also what other things other than the obvious cables chain sprockets etc are good to check on these bikes. I have limited experience with Ossas but have always liked them. Thanks for any info Sam

Don't know where I've been the last year that I haven't seen this machine ! I guess UNDER a log Anyway , I am VERY interested in buying one for my next bike ,like in a couple months. I am used to FI , we have been running it on our MX bikes and race quads since about 2002 Is there any way an individual can remap this bike? No dealer anywhere close , maybe 300 miles. What is the parts avail in the US ? How has the reliability been? Anything else I need to know?

I have just bought a Mikuni carb for my 250 Ossa Gripper. I hadn't realised that the air filter side is 44 mm dia compared to 52 mm dia on the Amal and therefore the standard airfilter won't fit. I do have the ability to make up a spacer ring but I was wondering whether there was an 'off the shelf' solution - hoping someone might be able to help,
