The O'rings on the fuel cap of my 247 are failing quite often now, I believe that it me be due to E10 fuel. At the moment I'm just using basic rubber ones, can anyone recommend a type that will last a bit longer. Thanks

Bought a nice s/h 2016 4RT Repsol. One thing I noticed there's a bit slack in the rear likage, so I reckon I need to replace those bearings to make it tight and smooth again. Anyone done it, any pointers what replacement parts to order, Allballs kit?

Hello, I redid the forks on 1970 Cota 247. I only had the bike for a short time and don't know how the forks should fill/ behave. Currently I reassemble the forks and put 190cc fork oil (15W) in each. what I noticed is: 1. The forks compress (goes down) quite easily the first few mm, feel like they bottoming, but I never experienced this behavior before so I don't know if this is the case, or it's a normal behavior. 2. It seems the fork doesn't bounce all the way up. They do bounce up but I can pull them up few mm more. 3. Hi all, I'm try to install back the fork of 1970 Cota 247 with no result. I can't figure out how to push back the plunger assembly to the inner rod. It seems the parts in the plunger don't fit back inside the rod tube smoothly. I also can't figure out what side of the internal spacer suppose to go on the plunger- the side that sits on the plunger small spring and allow the spring to move, or the other side that cover the spring. from where should I push the plunger back inside the rod- from the bottom part of the rod or the upper part (where the caps thread) Also- is it right to assume that after I put everything back- the plunger should go up …

I bought this Cota from the Original Owner and have been working on getting it sorted out. Its a very early model : Vin 21M00348, possibly a 1968?... It has the IRZ carb, big hubs, no chain tensioner or mount for one. Everything besides the tires is probably original. The bike runs but i have replaced the crank seals, base gasket and replaced the petcock. Working on getting tires/ tubes/ rim locks changed, seat recovered (foam is deteriorating). I don't think it will get a cosmetic upgrade, just mechanical. I like the patina. Thanks

Can someone please explain or upload a photo of the return spring on the rear brake of the early 70's Cota 247? I can't understand how the spring attach to the brake arm from the parts manual. Thanks.

I'm going to remove the rear wheel from my Cota 247. I have a flat tire and I want to check the wheel and the rim. Any tips how to do it correctly? Do I need to release the rear brake? Do I need to take the chain off? Do I need to mark any position of the wheel? Any help will be appreciated. I never done it before. Also- the previous owner told me it's a tube rear tire, but the tire (Dunlop D803 says tubeless) Could be it's a tubeless tire with add tube inside? Thanks.

I decided to pull the trigger on a beautiful but strangely yellow Cota 247. Thank you all for your help here in other groups in this forum. I want to check the air filter. Do I need to take down the gas tank in order to get to the air filter? if yes, any tips how to do it safely and correct? The owner told me to use non ethanol fuel in order to keep the fiberglass tank in good shape. Is this a common practice with this tank? And a photo of course!

I’ve got the opportunity to buy an old 172 that needs a bit of TLC. I had a one year old one from Windsor Comp Shop way back in 1978 so quite a late one (with the stripes on the tank) which looked gorgeous but used to be a bit of a pain to start and maintain as a 16 year old with zero parental interest in my motorcycle antics. Hello all, ive got some play at the rear dogbone bearing/ bushing (lower right on the picture) ive ordered a rear swinging arm bushing / bearing kit. ive not done this before - has anyone got a few minutes to outline the steps involved. once the dogbone out - I have a socket / bearing puller set to get the old bearings out. am I aiming to just remove the suspension gear with the swinging arm in situ? Or does the whole swinging arm come off. And are there tips and suggestions to make it easier ? thanks in advance !

I am looking into fitting the lighting and speedo assembly to my 2008 4RT and I'm puzzled by the speedo cable. I realise later models changed to using a sensor on the rear wheel, but mine has a speedo gearbox and the 'street legal' kit has a speedo cable that appears to be a traditional thick cable (with rotating inner) at the lower end, but ends in a pair of electrical wires at the top. I realise that there is a sensor involved that is detecting the speed of rotation and feeding an electrical pulse to the speedometer itself, but a couple of things bother me:- I can find no reference to this cable on any of the parts lists, of any year, that I have found. Hi, new here and just acquired a MH 349 in bits. Sadly it appears to have different length fork legs and I was wondering which one is correct ?. Also would anyone know where to get another replacement please ?. The frame has been painted red at some time in the past and I’m not sure if this is the correct colour as I’ve seen others grey and black ? Thanks.

I have a Cota 200 and it has a AMAL Carb. the numbering on the car is 625 and then below that is the numbers 720 / 404 can anyone tell me where I can locate a carb rebuild kit for this carb. I am wondering what Main Jet size I will need. Perhaps the numbers above differentiate that? thanks Greg
