Hi all, The rear shock rebound adjuster on my 2000 cota 315r sheared inside. It goes round-and-round and never reaches a stop. I hear that clickers often seize on older bikes. Unfortunately you can not buy a replacement clicker from Montesa, nor from Showa. I was told that I'd have to buy a whole new shock. So I need to have a replacement clicker machined. If other people have the same problem, then I could ask the machinist to produce a batch of these clickers, which should considerably lower the per-clicker cost. So please let me know ASAP if you would like to get in on this. BTW, I am in north-eastern USA, for purposes of estimating shipping cost.

First day out for dad today on his new toy, absolutley loved it loads of grip on the banks and hopping and flicking about just like the 2 stroke. Brakes seemed a bit weak? maybe need bedding in a little but any help would be good if anyone else has had this problem on the new bike? Lowered the gearing a little (43 rear I think) but still abit high, whats everyone else running? Nice to see him on a new bike at last he deserves it, just hope he doesnt get much better on it though

My clutch is like a switch , its either engaged or not. I have tried different oils but none seem to make a difference. Recently its started to make a squeal type noise sometimes (not constantly) when I try and hold it in a section My last bike was a beta Techno and the clutch on that was very gradual and being a complete beginner it realy helped me , but now I`ve got this Mont I just cant get used to it. I`m only a novice rider and I find it very difficult controling the bike through tricky sections compared to the old Techno. Are all 315 clutches like this ???? I have heard about putting in cr250 plates , has anyone on here tried them , or using them ????

Can anybody suggest what sort of spark I should be looking for when manually turning over? I'm trying to figure if there could be an electrical issue with the coil/stator pack... When pushing slowly with the kickstart - we don't get any spark?...when we push a bit quicker a spark starts to appear.....it's not hugely bright but there's something there? Should we be getting a strong spark even when pushing slowly though the stroke?

I was changing the oils in my 2005 4RT today. I found that the engine had over 900 cc of oil in it and the gearbox had about 5 cc. I don't think this is a good thing. How did all the gearbox oil get over to the engine? I found an earlier post about engine oil going into the gearbox due to a pinched breather tube. All my breather hoses are open. I put 540 cc in the gearbox and left the engine cover off to see if any gearbox oil is going to run through to the engine overnight. Does anybody have any advice or opinions?

Hey Guys, The last couple of rides out, the bike's been running awful, not ticking over etc... Each time I've got it home, plug out - and it's jet black & sooty... I know this usually means it's running too rich - but, I've got it at 80:1 premix, the air screw turned out 3 3/4 turns and running a 108/34 jet set-up...2nd up from the bottom on the needle... I know this isn't the standard jetting - the guys at Sandifords said it's just a bit snappier of an option...but, I'm wondering whether I need to wind the air screw out a bit more then the recommended settings due to this jet change? The other thing I'm not sure about is blocking the rear mudguard airbox holes o…

Before I get the drill out to remove them I'd like to get some replacements in hand So can anyone tell me the diameter, length & threadpitch of the Front caliper bolts on an 06 4RT And what material should I get the new bolts in? I know titanium is good, but would something else suffice? And as a hint, if I drill the head off will I get the shaft of the bolts out with some vice grips, or am I going to need some heat for the lock tight, or am I going to have to also drill & retap the holes? So if you have managed to get yours replaced, can you describe the degree of difficulty. Thanks in advance

Just bought a new (well new to me ) 4RT. The fenders are a bit shabby so i bought some off of Sandifords. The existing fender is pop rivetted on. I assume i just dremmel the four rivets off? So i bought a pop riveter... but the pop rivet aint long enough and when i looked at the fixings on the existing fender the underside rivets have discs on them... my rivets dont. Forgive my ignorance... but how do i fix the new fender to the bracket? Can i just buy some nuts and bolts? Anyone know of anyone who sells any kit for this purpose? Cheers, Jza
