Hi everyone. Im working on my front fork and have a few questions about re assembling it. First off on the spring leg im having trouble getting the guide bushing to sit down in its slot. Anyone have this issue before or have a solution. Its preventing me from getting the fork seal in. Second of all on the damper side im unsure what position i should have the pipe when i measure the air gap. Ive set it with the fork leg down. Next step on the damper leg is to tighten the top cap but again im not sure what position to have the inner for pipe. When i close the cap with the fork compressed it works like a negative air spring making it hard to extend the fork leg. Whe…

Forks are off the bike, damper is out, dust seal is off, and the circlip has been removed, but not sure how to remove the slider and seal. The manual say to pull out sharply on the fork tube to bump the seal out. Tried this a few times, but nothing moved. Should I heat the aluminum lower leg a little and then slide the tube out harder? How do you read the stem head label to determine the build year?

I'm riding in a wooded and grassy area, so probably should have a spark arrestor. Any opinions on how much risk there actually is without an arrestor. Any suggestions on getting one?

My 315r has been thru some rougher days, the fender is replaced (from red to a grey one) and the gas tank was wrapped in a worn down carbonfiber-look-a-like vinyl when I got it. Removed the wrap and my next move is to re-wrap it with another vinyl for now (cheap and easy to fix when damaged). But the thing is, I don't want the tank and fender to be "naked" so to speak, so I want to replace the fender decal/sticker with a new one, so I scanned the one I removed from the grey fender and Are right now in the process of outlining it to get the shape right for a test print. Am I wasting my time because this has already been done or is it something that would interest the r…

Hi cant seem to find the correct size fork seal for a 2002 315r with the newer forks, the bluey petroly looking ones. I was told they were 38x50x8/9.5 whatever that means, but the ones I was given are a different size than the ones that are currently on the bike.

Hello first post so be gentle with me. I have a 2002 315r ,looking in the manual for the carb settings I see that there are 2 listed. 1) Needle 3 notches from top, 110 main jet and air/mixture screw 1 turn out 2) Needle 3 notches from top, 108 main jet and air/mixture screw 3-4 turns out I have the 110 main, but most of the posts Ive read say set the screw at 3-4 turns out, mine was set at 1 3/4 turns out- when I put it to 3 out the bike smokes for England. Ive now set it to 1 turn out. Anyone know what the correct setting is? Thanks in advance

Me and my mate where out practicing today when we stopped for a breather. my mate kicked his bike up and it started to rev up on its own. he pressed the cutout and its revs dropped slightly then went through the roof! I grabbed a stick and tried to remove the supressor cap (the stick and my gloves where wet) of course I got zapped and could even feel it leaving me thru my boots lol! It still kept on running so we stuck it in 6th and dumped the clutch whilst it was up against a tree. That stalled it. After it had stopped we checked the throttle and it was working fine? Ive heard of this happening before but cant remember what causes it. We didnt fire it up again after, as …

My mate has just rebuilt his forks after stripping to fit new seals. After a couple of minutes ridng around, the forks seem to pump up almost solid and there is little or no compression movement. He's strippped and checked and everything appears to be as it should. Any ideas please?.

Thanks in advance Rich

I know this is sort of a stupid question, yet seems I need to ask it. Seems I have found a rather cherry example of the last of the 2T's , which indeed seem somewhat scarce here, and am considering getting it as a second bike and for its somewhat historical value as the last gen. I rode one off new and thought it a decent performer as compared to some prior models, still knowing they are a bit on the heavy side, yet great fun and reliable. Great punters bike! Question being, am I just simply daft in wanting this bike for to basically sit about and play with on occasion, or does this little reliable lump have as much apeal to some others as it does to me, add the collec…

Hey Guys, The last couple of rides out, the bike's been running awful, not ticking over etc... Each time I've got it home, plug out - and it's jet black & sooty... I know this usually means it's running too rich - but, I've got it at 80:1 premix, the air screw turned out 3 3/4 turns and running a 108/34 jet set-up...2nd up from the bottom on the needle... I know this isn't the standard jetting - the guys at Sandifords said it's just a bit snappier of an option...but, I'm wondering whether I need to wind the air screw out a bit more then the recommended settings due to this jet change? The other thing I'm not sure about is blocking the rear mudguard airbox holes o…

Hopefully a few members might be able to help me !? I've recently bought a 2004 315r and am struggling to locate a new silencer for it. I'm unsure if there are 3 parts or just 2 to the full system. The front pipe is in good unmarked condition but the silencer has been broken off at some point and is held on with an aluminium wrap and a couple of jubilee clips. It looks to me that the silencer is/has been riveted on to the part that emerges from the rear of the frame originally. Would i be right in assuming that this is correct and is for removing possibly for re packing ?? Any ideas where i might get a second hand or new part? Been watching on flea bay for a few weeks …
