I (half) disagree, the 100th is well within his potential. As stated above, let's just hope that there are plenty of wet rounds this year and a return to traditional big sections instead of indoor sections shoved outside in the car park... Changing bikes at Dougs level can't be easy although Wiggy and Cabestany did very well on their first outings. I'm not sure we will see anything as dominating as his past but he'll soon get to grips with the Beta and start getting back on the podium again

Pull the cable out of the throttle assembly and then yank it straight up. It works a treat but trying to keep your eyes on the cover and small plastic wheel as they ping off in two opposite directions is not quite so easy. I did it in a fast flowing Scottish beck and only managed to find the plastic wheel

I would have been 9 or 10 years old in '75 and I remember me and a mate of mine jumping on a bus one Satuday afternoon to look at the new trials bikes in the big bike shop at Keighley (Colin Appleyards?) We stopped off at Silsden on the way home and somehow managed to find big Mart' fettling a bike whilst a young sprog peddled his little tricyle around the yard. I've no idea if it was a 2yr old Dougie up to his eyes in mud but I do remember the recently crowned World Champion taking time to have a chat and show us his bike As Physco would say "TOP MAN, RESPECT"

I'm not sure 'gutsy' is the right word After riding an 1100cc Honda Blackbird for a couple of years, I didn't think the 20cc difference between a Beta 250 and 270 would make much difference but it did - especially after a smart-a*** so called 'mate' of mine suggested I put a fast action throttle on it
