Why did you start I didn't want to die on a road bike! A friend lent me his Scorpa for a day and I was hooked good and proper Why do you continue to ride? Loads of reasons! Escape from the wife and kids for a day, dodge the DIY, have fun whilst exercising, meet up with mates, compete with others, hopefully continue to improve etc. what would get more people riding trials? Demo's at MX and road racing venues to entice existing bike riders to have a go, public shows like Crosser and Clarky perform in the UK...

Little finger, stick it out when supping a cup of Typhoo and you'll be in with royalty in no time at all...

That truly awesome story reminded me of one of my most heroic missions on a trials bike. It will probably go down in history as an epic saga of sheer pain, personal suffering, great financial loss and self discipline. I would love to tell you all about it Lane but I don't want anyone else to think I'm up my own a*** - maybe I'll save it for Hollywood...

The only point I would like to add is that I am always impressed when I see the likes of Wigg and Co. wringing every last ounce of power out of the 125's before launching up summat... I took some video of the BDMC Skyrakes trial which is on TC somewhere. Section 2 (I think) shows the top lads on their 250's and Wiggy on his 125 riding the same line. The 125 riders are forced to use technique to compensate for the lack of cc's. Can anyone find the link? I can't be a***d looking for it

Have they let you out again? I tend to ride sections too slow so the higher gearing forces me to ride them at everyone else's speed. 1st gear is too slow and 2nd gear is too fast so this setup works perfectly for me, just try it and see what you think... I think 1 tooth up front equates to about 4 teeth at the back so maybe try a rear sprocket that's 2 teeth smaller and see what you think of your 1st gear with that.

If your chain is oldish/stretched and your adjusters are wound all the way out then you will probably be ok. If not, you might also need a chain 'link and a half'.

Replace the 11T front sprocket with a 12T and you will find that 1st will be halfway between the original 1st and 2nd gear. I use this gearing all the time Give Gary or John a ring on 01535 655970 http://www.thetrialcompany.com
