  1. Some quick questions from a first time GasGas owner (2020 GP 300). What 2T oil do you run and how much in 5 litres? What gearbox oil do you use. The book recommends Motorex but it seems quite expensive and hard to come by. What's the best plug to use in the UK? I think it comes with a BPR5ES as standard. Has anyone used one of the iridium plugs? I've been told that any 300 GP that comes through JSM (this one did originally) gets a low compression head insert and re-jetted. Can anyone back this up? I've asked Shirtys but they haven't got back to me yet. Anything else that you know they do to the bikes from standard. How does the low compression head on a GP compare to the standard Racing model? Thanks Kirk
  2. As above, it's a lot easier having them on the outside. Just remember to always have the closed end of the clip pointing in the direction the chain travels (as it is in the picture).
  3. Hi, I've just bought a second hand GasGas (2020 GP 300) and want to remove the front light to put a number board on. I don't have a wiring diagram so I wanted any advice on how easy it is to remove safely without impacting any of the other electricals. Thanks Kirk
  4. Without naming names one of the top UK riders told me that even for the very top riders (Bou, Raga etc) there is no money in the outdoor world championship. They get paid a nominal wage and costs but there is very little in terms of prize money on offer. He did say that all of the money is (or was at the time) in indoor trials; with decent starting fees and good prize money. I remember watching indoors 10-15 years ago where you would have 10 riders minimum starting that covered most of the top riders in the world, plus some local wildcards. Therefore spreading the prize money around a greater pool of riders. Nowadays its the same 5 riders at every X-trial, so unless you can crack into and stay in that top 5 there is very little money in the sport for any other riders. It seems to me the decline in the outdoor world championship is linked to the reduction in participants and constant changing of the format of the X-trials / indoors. To me watching indoor trials is akin to watching Ninja Warrior or Total Wipeout on TV. You need to see a good group of people struggle to really appreciate the people who can complete the course.
  5. I am going to look at a second hand 2020 300 GP model and just wondered if there were any common problems to look out for? Also any tips on things that should be done to the bike from standard? Thanks Kirk

    R vs RR vs Gold

i'm considering a new TRS after owning GasGas and Beta before. I am struggling to find any spec lists to see the difference between each of the 3 models, so can someone give a brief list of the major differences?

    2021 GP models?

Does anyone know roughly when the GP models have been released in previous years? Or have any info on when the 2021 models will be released? I am looking at getting a Racing 300 but would rather have a GP if they are coming early part of the new year. John Shirt didn't have any info!
  8. The main thing to realise is you dont balance a trials bike with your arms. All the balance should come from applying pressure to each foot peg and any weight on the bars is just there to help you balance on the top of the bike not to keep the bike itself in balance. A good tip is when you get up on the bike try applying weight from one foot to another and let the bike rock from side to side a bit. This way you will get to feel the balance point of the bike. Nobody in the world can just stand there perfectly in balance, its all about recognising when the bike is moving from the balance point and applying slightly more weight to either footpeg to bring it back in balance. If you just try to stay perfectly still you will inevitably fall over. Once you get the hang of balancing the bike using weight on the footpegs you can then try doing it with your hands off the bars completely, which is extra difficult because you need to balance both the bike and yourself plus you cant use the front brake.
  9. On the Jotagas UK website it says something about a water seal going and cooking the engine, so he was unable to continue.
  10. Anyone know if there is anything else on other than the 2 day Bedlington Pre65/Twinshock and the Stanley (Friday) trial over the easter weekend? I cant make the Friday one and dont fancy riding a trial which only has an easy course. Thanks Kirk

    Beta Rev 3 Over Run

Agree with the above, but instead of listening for the slide hitting bottom it's a lot easier to tell by putting your finger on the tick-over screw and letting the throttle snap shut. If you feel the slide hitting the screw you know its going fully closed.
  12. If anyone has Bike Baron for the iPhone I've created some Sheffield inspired downloadable user levels. Just enter the 4 digit codes below into the User Levels section. PJ1 Bottles - BKVV Skips - BOCB - no backwards hopping required! Waterfall - BRTP Race - BKS8 Let me know what you think and I may be inspired to create some more.
  13. Does anyone have a list of dates for the North East Centre Championship rounds in 2012? It appears as though I have been downgraded to novice, so want to make sure I ride a few of these championship rounds this year. Thanks Kirk
  14. I havn't been to this venue before. Can anyone provide some directions or a postcode? Thanks Kirk
  15. Just noticed there is a new trials app for the iPhone /iPod called iTrials. It's in the top 25 downloaded apps at the moment, priced at 59p. Just wondered if anyone has tried it yet? Its over 20mb to download so you will need to hook up to the PC or wifi to download.
  16. I am after some new footrests to replace the standard (and rather rubbish) ones on my Beta. I am thinking of getting the S3 Hardrock adjustable ones - http://www.trialendurodirect.com/products/...ESTS___701.html Has anyone used these before? Good / bad / easily bendable etc ?
  17. Is it just me, or do you get the impression that the wheels are still chained to some poor guys garage floor somewhere?

    North East

According to the calander there is a Seaton Deleval trial on Monday 24th of this month. Is this correct? As the following weekend is the bank holiday (31st)... I am planning on making a rare appearance at the Weardale trial the day before, but will book a day off work if there is a trial on the monday.
  19. Just wondered if the winner had been announced yet? As I cant find anything on here or on Trials UK website.
  20. Is it repeated on eurosport? missed it the other night and would like to see it.
  21. Clicky Apparently it is very fast! Well you would expect that from a bike with 280 BHP...(read the specs) Did I mention it is very fast?
  22. Another one of his auctions - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Yamaha-YTM175-trike...1QQcmdZViewItem You may need a spare hour to read it all... Well worth the reda though
  23. He means by taking them apart first....
  24. I have spotted a problem - If you have a little petrol left in the tank and you are doing a wheely or going up a steep bank, won't all the fuel run to the back of the tank and starve the engine? You wouldn't have to have the front wheel that high for this to happen...or have Sherco thought of this problem?
