  1. I don't know the answer to your question, but I did have a quick ride on a true 200cc Gas Gas a few years ago that had been made by RCM Trial Sport of Cornwall, England. It was a while ago, and it may have been the old pre-Pro motor, but it was a super sweet little bike. Robin at RCM would tell you more I'm sure if you called him on 01209 820896.
  2. The observer marked that ride as he saw it and according to his own interpretation of the rules. Provided he is consistent and impartial that is fair. Enough people have been put off observing (at all levels of the sport) by riders and minders arguing. How many will be willing to do it if they face trial by video?
  3. Today's trial has been cancelled due to a waterlogged car park.
  4. Peter, Linda and Scott Cartwright who are the Dudley Club always put on a good trial with a choice of routes to suit every ability, and like Just says, its a good venue. Definitely worth a visit.
  5. I describe myself as an over 50 clubman, riding the alternative route in Western and Midland centres.
  6. Thanks for the recommendation. Which class would you enter, Nigel?
  7. I've been using a Kangoo for about a month now and am still working out how best to carry a bike. Interested to hear that Bultaco49 puts his bike in forwards as I'm open to any suggestions myself. However, I put my Gas Gas in backwards with the back wheel against the passeger door pillar and the front wheel on full right hand lock against the offside rear door. There's about an inch to spare which holds everything in place and I just strap the bars against the side. It would help if I had a side door as I have to lean in over the passenger seat to get the rear wheel in the right place against the passenger door pillar, but no bother really. As far as the van is concerned mine is the 1.5DCi and I'm very pleased with it. It drives like a car, handles well, and is very economical. Gets thirstier with speed, but still returns 40mpg at 85-90 on the motorway. If you need something small, like I do at present, its a good bit of kit, IMO
  8. Sorry, Mate, just re-read your post. The advantage of mineral oil is that the gearbox oil doesn't affect the seals in the top hat. When using brake fluid the seals can give up over time even if the bike hasn't been used much. Whichever fluid you use I'd change the top hat seal and O ring and check the pack height while you're at it just to be thorough.
  9. The 04 Raga should have mineral oil not brake fluid. What colour is the top of the master cylinder? If its green then you should be using mineral oil. Maybe your friend 'converted' it and changed all the seals? Maybe you've got a mixture of each type? Good luck
  10. I always torque my head down to 18 foot pounds and believe this is the correct value. I don't use jointing compound with the 'o' rings, but I do use it between the barrel and a head spacer and this has been adequate so it could help to prolong the seal of the 'o' rings, I guess. Hope you're back out on her soon.
  11. What you describe isn't an uncommon event. The rubber 'o' rings in the head harden with age and eventually blow . Just replace the 'o'rings. When the head is off look for any signs of bore damage and check the fan works properly and the rad' is not blocked with crud before your next ride.
  12. City Trials, I take your point, but couldn't contain my surprise at the result - which speaks for itself. To win by such a margin Bou is clearly taking the Indoor Championship and the 4RT to a new level.
  13. Wasn't expecting the result until this evening, but according to Octagon the result is - Bou 5, Raga 15 and Fajardo 28!
  14. How accurate are these rumours? Is the 4Gasser still in development, on ice or in the pawnbrokers?
  15. Don't know where you are, but this guy is good. Roper Welding Services Tel: 01285 861031 Unit D The Old Brickyard North End, Ashton Keynes, Swindon SN6 6QR
  16. Mainly mud, wooded banks, mud and more mud
  17. The start is usually at Lansdown, five miles north-west of Bath.
  18. How much free play have you got on your clutch lever? If the adjuster is tight against the plunger you can get the symptoms you describe.
  19. I've had one from new and had no problems with it whatsoever. IMO the 04's are better made than the new ones, but the key to these and any used bike is how its been looked after. Provided the air filter has always been kept clean, and the gearbox oil changed on a regular basis it should be fine. Check for play in the swinging arm spindle and suspesion bushes though.
  20. Hi 7 You can either just remove the wheel and disassemble everything from beneath, or you may find its easier to see what you're doing if you take the swinging arm out, complete with rear brake master cylinder. The advantage of taking the swinging arm out is that it runs on plain bushes straight onto the pivot tube, so if there's dirt or no grease in there it can wear out pretty fast. Its also easier to get to the two bearings in the underside of the swinging arm. Have fun, Dave
  21. Hi, If you get a Yamaha type kill switch it should have bullet type connectors on it. Under your tank you'll find only one bullet type connector socket. Stick one wire from your kill switch in that. The other kill switch wire should be taken to earth. Hope that helps. If you've taken your lights off make sure the fan still works! Dave

    Gg Clutch

Got to be the 'O' rings/seal inside the top hat, as you said, but check the clutch pack height too when you're in there.
  23. Hi, I can't help you with the range of a tank of gas, but we used Dzus fasteners to hold the seat unit on. These quarter turn toggle fasteners made life a lot easier. Gas Gas UK were doing sets of these things at the time and may still have some, or perhaps you could get them locally?

    1995 250 Gas Gas

Does this washer fit over the central spacer? If so its to help keep things lined up to make it easier to push the spindle through. Looks like its had a hard life whatever it is!
  25. Why can't you measure the circumference of the wheel and tyre, or measure how far it travels on the ground for a complete revolution?
