  1. Hello everyone, I am fishing for some info about a licence plate for my gasgas pro. I saw someone at hawkstone last year with a plate on their trials bike that fastened up onto the underside of the rear mudguard when not needed. I cannot find these anywhere and wanted to find out if any of you guys had seen them. Also, does anyone know what the legal requirements are regarding plate size for use on the road. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Rich
  2. was some on ebay recently. you could have a look see if it is still on there.
  3. Thanks for the help guys. What are the chances of petit france been reopened for trials, does anyone have any contact details so we can find out. How accessible is the place at kilkenny. Do you hav to be road legal, is there car parking near etc. We are thinking of going in the next couple of weeks. How do you get there? On another subject, has anyone been to the feet up place in devon. Thinking about trying it in feb but have not heard any reports from riders about it. cheers rich
  4. That has happened to mine next to the filler cap wher the petrol has got onto it. Clean the underside of the sticker and the tank with solvent cleaner(I used carb cleaner)then stick it down using the carpet glue that you can buy from b&q(the stuff that comes in a spray can, i think it is made by evostick. It is about a fiver a can and mine has never come off again since I glued it about 6 months ago. The glue might seem a little expensive just to put a sticker back on but it is the best thing I think to glue grips on with...It lubricates the grip so it slides on easy, and does not move once the glue has gone off. When you want to remove them you just slide a thin screwdriver between the grip and handlebar to break the seal and twist it off.
  5. Any of you guys seen this quite entertaining demo which is posted on the mitani site. Here is the link extreme trials demo
  6. RYP do a nice tank bag. I dont know how much it carries but it may be worth a look. ryp tank bag
  7. Hi scott I have one of the ones from ebay if you want to buy it. I got it but it doesnt fit my 03 pro because its got a different carb....should have read the ad properly before clicking that 'buy it now' button. Its obviously never been fitted but you can have it for

    Beta Techno 95 Carb

Hi benji before you go down the route of replacement, use the search facility to find past threads on this problem. Carb leaks on beta's are quite a common problem which can be fixed using various mods which are posted on trials central. If you dont want to try it yourself I think john lampkin imports do the mods for a small fee. hope this helps rich
  9. Staying on that note I think world trials could soon be totally dominated by the spanish, especially the young ones that are now coming through the ranks. Both fajardo and bou are extremely talented, BUT, a lot of that is taught and practiced, and I think if we want to be major contenders in trials we have to spend more time, money and effort and bring on our own talent in the likes of dabill and morris. The boys put in gutsy performances on the night, especially morris who opened the show which must have been a terrifying prospect, and I know that they are still very young etc etc, but when you compare them to what the spanish have on offer they are still a long way off the pace and dare I say, not even in the same class........Yet!
  10. Brilliant night. toni bou is absolutely awesome....definately a world champion in the making. I was sat right in front of him when he launched himself fearlessly off the top of section 2 to exit the section on his backside and there were very few riders that followed took same route!! I just sat there in disbelief at what I had just seen..amazing. I agree with jools on the montesa camp, dougie and fuji had to strangle the life out of the bikes but they did not seem to want to go up those sections. It is a lot better than last year but I don't believe honda have improved the engine performance enough to get them into the top 3 of the indoor series this year. But back to bou, what a performance, what a rider!! The last race was a joy to watch, ive never seen anyone move so fast over barrels on the back wheel. He really showed Raga what for. Watch this space. I think we are going to have a new indoor trials champ this year. Oh, I have a 7mb vid clip of the last race between bou and raga but I dont know how to get it posted on here.It is not the best quality(from digi camera) but if anyone can help you can all marvel again over this spectacular piece of riding.

  12. Hi all I have just moved to wiltshire (near chippenham) from tyneside and wondered if any of you know of any trials practice areas that are 'legal' to ride on. any help would be appreciated because I DO need the practice! thanks guys rich

  14. Hi all, I have some air leaking out of my rear wheel at the spoke nipples and am in need of some information. I am going to replace the tyre band to reseal it but also I want to respoke the wheel while Ive got the tyre off because the nipples and some of the spokes are corroded and seized. Have any of you attemted to respoke a wheel yourselves, what is the easiest way of doing it, what torque do you need to have on the spoke nipples?. do you need to make a jig for aligning the rim. I was planning to do it 1 spoke at a time to minimize the amount of movement on the rim while I am tinkering and would appreciate any help from you guys. Oh... I dont want to go down the route of sending the wheel away to be done, I was hoping to make this a diy learning project!! cheers rich
  15. Ive just bought a radycool carbon rad protector. Tried it out today, bike completely caked in mud and it kept 99% of crap out of rad and fromt of engine. Looks great and works too. Anodisised black wheels would also look niiice. Candy wheels look good but when I rang them before christmas they said mine would take 8 weeks.... a bit excessive at the least.
  16. Anyone tryed to figure out what causes the problem in the first place...it would make it easier to get a permanent fix. There must be some stress on the tank from somewhere if it is cracking a weld or rubbing a hole in the metal! where exactly are the leaks appearing. anyone got any photos?? It would be nice to figure out before it happens to mine.
  17. Thanks for your responses. I am unsure of which ones to buy...Raga or renthal. What difference would it make by moving the bars forward or back, is it just personal preference or will it affect the handling characteristics of the bike?
  18. Hello all. I am in dire need of some help from the gas gas elite. I have recently aquired a set of renthal fatbars for my 03 pro 280 and have been trying to get a set of clamps for them but my local shop are out of stock, so I have contacted BandC express(the dealers in the uk) from the renthal website. They told me that any of the 28mm mounts will work but I will have to make sure I order the clamps with the correct offset, height and bolt lengths etc.. Can anyone tell me which clamps I need. Oh.. I want the bars to be in the same position as stock bars. Thanks
  19. I had a mitas on the back of a beta. worked ok but didnt seem to get as much grip as a michelin. As I understand it mitas are made by continental in czech rep. I have been told conti stopped making trials tyres long ago so would think the design/ technology is a little out of date.
  20. Yes, I found that out from the mechanics at bvm. And a bike inner tube is only a third of the price....bonus!!.
  21. I have just finished rebuilding an 03 pro that I have just bought and mine was doing the same thing. What I found was that the clutch piston that releases the plates was not sitting against the spring fingers which caused the fingers to rattle around. If you pressed the clutch in slightly the noise went away. The easiest way I found to fix this is to remove the impeller assembley and clutch hose, then take off te clutch cover taking care not to damage the gasket (you dont even need to remove the oil if you lie the bike completely flat on its side). pour a little bit of dot 4 into the hole where the clutch hose goes onto the cover and very slowly pull the piston away from the cover until the fluid that you have just poured in goes to the bottom then repeat the process until the base of the piston is about 1.5 inches from the inside cover (this is a good time to check there is no air in the piston assembly by slowly pumping the piston back and forth to release any bubbles). Once you have done that re-fit the clutch cover and when you push it on to the gearbox casing the clutch piston will be pushed into position and all the excess fluid pushed out. The piston will now be sitting perfectly on top of the spring fingers so they cannot rattle around.Bolt the cover back on and back bleed the clutch from the clutch and all should be well. Hope this helps.
