I read somewhere that the original mounting plate/bracket could rust over time (due to condens water and the crap thats in modern fuel). So cutting a V out of it and welding it back makes the mounting plate even more vulnerable to corrosion. And while your at it, clean the tea-bag filter that's fitted under the fuel pump. I used carburettor cleaner for it.

Yes they are universal and easy to fit.It replaces the original kill switch one on one. It's probably necessary to replace the connectors. When in doubt, ask someone for help to fit it. There should be a wiring diagram included with the magnetic kill switch.

I use SAE 80W90 transmission oil (API GL5). Should be better for colder conditions. Sae 90 or 80W90 also reduces the noise level from the gearbox a bit better than the thinner 10W40 or other multigrade Motorcycle oil. For the clutch I use GRO Gear Extreme 75W, which is a light full synthetic transmission oil. It made the clutch in my Cota 4RT very smooth with almost no drag, even when cold, so it should be fine for my Sherpa which has modern friction material on the clutch plates.

Wouldn't make much difference imo. The rider has the skilzz, determination, practice hours etc... and he and his team play a great part in the bike set-up, so...

I didn't know Hebo (still) made Montesa gear. By the way, Hebo is called Mots these days so I've heard. X-Citing used to make some. I found the Gearnes I used to have more comfortable than the Alpinestars I now own. The Alpinestars offer more protection though.
