its good advice your both saying, but as ham2 says, squatting in the middle of the bike will probably mean that if you take a tumble then you are gonna hit the floor rather than be able to jump off and land on your feet.
-
put high tensile bolts in it mate. check the head of the bolt, must be 8.8 (or higher) stamped into it.
make sure they are the correct thread pitch and length
-
i do that method in the video too.
i used to have hell starting my 280 before i adopted that method.
-
yes, common fault.
faulty connection between the handlebars and the footpegs
-
you're not exactly spoiled for choice if you insist on a 4 banger,
the beta is the best looking bike on the market. <----- actual, factual fact.
however, the montesa got a honda engine.
id get the beta.
-
if it were mine then id want another engine fitted to be honest.
i feel your pain mate. i come off mine in a river on my first ever ride on it.
i was lucky though as my chain come off the rear sprocket and it jammed up between the front sprocket and engine case and stalled the engine, so it didnt suck in any water.
-
my mate got them and also rates them.
-
how on earth are you denting the tank with your knees?
-
if you need to ask that question you shouldn't be messing with brakes.
you are messing with the safety of yourself and everybody around you.
-
dunno about the details of it but its a bloody sexy bike
-
approx 75ml for me.
cant say for sure, i use a crappy little measuring tub instead of a NASA grade super duper syringe.
sidenote: petrol pumps are not calibrated perfectly.
so there.
-
what has that got to do with it?
-
Ive bought one of those cheapy chinese motocross bikes for CHEAP.
it only needs a throttle.
its fitted with a domino throttle but i cant find the right one anywhere on the internet.
they all seem to be for trials bikes.
does anybody know of a place that deals with domino throttles or if i can just buy an inner cable for it from somewhere?
-
yes! exactly that!
i do the floor standing one though, i rarely stand on the pegs to start it
-
i had a little trouble with my Gas Gas when i first bought it.
it took a little practise and a few tips from fellow Gas Gas riders but now ive got the knack i can start it no problems.
i dont even use the choke on mine anymore.
i get mine to tdc, then rest my foot on the kickstart taking up the inch or so of play, then i buckle my left leg at the knee, dropping my whole body weight down on the kick start. i.e. not using your leg to kick the bike over
-
my mate got a new Montesa 4rt and he loves it. i haven't riden it but you can see that its a gripping machine. it just sticks like **** to a blanket.
the beta is the best looking bike for me. but the Montesa has a honda engine.
if it were me, id get the beta.
-
-
i would love a pair of wulfsport (british made) but i dont like the stigma thats attached
-
hi tuna,
im glad you caught the problem hook, line and sinker.
as soon as i read the thread, something appeared to be a bit fishy.
sometimes little problems like this start to bait you.
but you just gotta have patience and reel them in slowly.
i remember when i had a problem with my bike. i was landed when i put it in its plaice.
welcome to trials central anyway. you'll soon be hooked.
tartare for now.
-
you make a good point actually
-
not particularly, no.
im just saying its a stupid design.
in fact, the guy who decided to put it on the left side couldn't have been more stupid if his name was mr. stupid and he lived in stupid street.
its like writing your name with your left hand (unless left handed of course)
as i said, ive never riden a beta, but i would have bought one had it not been for the gay kick start as i think they are very pretty bikes.
-
wow, thats exactly what i said but in a much better way.
its how i start bikes too...i might have watched that video i think.
-
id get a Gas Gas.
the kick start on a beta is a completely stupid idea.
when i was shopping for a trials bike, i would have loved a beta (never rode one mind)
but the left kicker totally put me off. and ill never buy one either until they put the kick start on the proper side
-
i would also advise againt kicking the bike over with just the power of your right leg.
i place my foot on the kickstart at TDC, and then drop my whole body weight downwards whilst kicking.
try leaning the handlebars against a wall and stand on the left foot peg.
not sure on the fuelling problem. my Gas Gas is a lovely starter. i dont even use the choke.
-
oh and those practise tracks are motocross mate. they wont let u on.
