Got it today from the local DVLA office no problem at all NUX ***P, I'm well chuffed!! all I need now is to source the old TY fibre glass number plates that used to be fitted to the TY Mono's.
-
John, I'll pop the speedo on ebay and see if I can double the price I paid for it
-
It passed
No speedo was fitted
Put a reflector on for good measure (never said if it was needed though)
An electric horn (battery one from Halfords)
And a Chain Guard
That was it!
BS:
No brake light was needed (I suppose you should use the old flapping arm when slowing down?)
No registration plate needed either, they go off your frame #
Now off to the local DVLA office in the morn to get a 1976 number plate
-
Local spray has a book with every colour M/cycle paint ever made, I picked 'Kawasaki Orange pearl' for my SY even put it in a 300ml Can for
-
I wonder if Sandifords would sponsor me then
Surely I would have thought it's part of the deal (being told what event to ride)
-
Ishy, you obvoiusly have far too much money, Now I myself don't have enough, so send me the Pentax and I can sell one of mine to feed the wife and four kids for another month.
-
Local shop ain't too strict, I know I had to have a reflector on my old KLX650, the biggest beef last time I got a trials bike mot'd was an electric horn.
I'll find out soon
-
I did have a smile on me face when I saw you have posted in the 'Scorpa' section
Hopefully riding your trial m8, The SY's frame has gone off to be powder coated today, chap says it should be back by Friday so Fingers crossed
If I aint got a ride I'll come along and mark a board
-
Bout right that init! just spent
-
Taking my ty175 for an MOT Wednsday, it's been a while, but from what I can recall you need:
Chain Guard
Cont Sounding Horn
And a Speedo
Right???
Now I've got no Speedo so I've gone off and bought a cycle speedo, a wireless type, looks quite good and it works........ but will it be enough to pass??
Has anybody else 'got away' with a cycle speedo?
Cheers
-
I was thinking the same as you there Ishy
-
Yes it is Vinnie, it's on all the 250's (I think) fit's nice and tight around the shock.
-
Very nice Johnnyboxer, Fair play mate.
I just found out some old video footage of myself and a couple of mates riding the Knighton 2day in midwales in the early 90's I had a 305 Fantic, loved that bike........ and seeing it again it makes me want to go out and buy one to do up for the same reasons you mentioned.
Best take off me rose tinted specs before the wife catches on
-
Like the cover you've got just under the exhaust/rad.......see alot of Gassers with this type of cover but I've never seen and SY with one before.
Did you make it yourself or buy it?
Nice bike

Reason I'm asking is my TY175 is quite tidy, needs rear shocks and a rear mudguard a few cables but apart from that it will do me for the up and coming Classic twinshock rounds.
I find it hard to stop myself from 'going the whole hog' and spending
-
Jesus Boofont, some cool looking bikes on the website, I'm damm sure I wouldn't want to get any of them dirty
Maybe its best I don't post any pics of my pathtic efforts when I'm done spraying
Sure the Zebra SY was for sale on ebay recently ?
-
Well done GB, poor old BS Spence and Wells will be trashing him next Sunday too
-
Just wondering how much it cost to rebuild some of the bikes on this forum, there has been some very nice bikes recently on here.
I would imagine that you can spend up to
-
129 marks lost, come on Bikespace, time to hang them expert boots up I know where there's a nice T/Shock 250 Beamish Suzuki for sale....just do you mate
-
Looks like mines an 03 then, I'm in the process of spraying the tank and I'm still unsure what colour to do it
-
You must be the exception then Dabster, when I used to ride expert years ago it was the done thing, p/x your bike off to some dealer miles away for the latest tack, thrash the tit's off it for a year and do the same again, the dealer ain't bothered as long as he sells another new bike.
The only reason I bought mine was cheap price and I can fix it up myself, and there just ain't many SY's for sale (round here anyway) when they do come up there snapped up as quick as anything.
I recently sold my 125 Scorpa, took a Rev3 250 in p/x, clubman rider, clean bashplate, very tidy bike (it's for sale if any ones interested ) the bike is a 2001...............stood next to the SY the beta looks like it was 2 years younger.

http://www.classic-motorbikes.com/html/pages/DP08.htm
This one is on sale for
-
just bought an 02 (or 03 I'm not sure) dark grey paint on the frame.
mine looked like it had been owned by the missing link had to
replace front wheel bearings
rear wheel bearings
Head race bearings
and the rear disc is slightly bent.
also the middle exhaust box had split quite bad.
Everything has ben done with the exception of the rear disc, I was told that the bearings Scorpa use are crap so replace them and the guy who welded my exhaust up said it was the third one he'd done.........so I guess thats the weak spots.
Like I say mine was an ex Homer Simpson bike, but It come cheap so that's why i bought it.
Just be carefull about buying a bike thats been owned by an 'Expert rider' also most s/h bikes that are for sale in dealers are knackers (thats why they part ex'd them)
Go for low use Clubman rider types....good luck
-
Saw one today at the local Shropshire Trial, sounded as quite as the two strokes, didn't speak to the guy to ask if he'd took any restrictors etc etc.
nice looking bike
