  1. Both mine used to do the spitting and stalling thing, wasn't the reason I sold them though, bit unfair to say it never happens though. I'm aiming to ride all the ACU T/shock rounds in 05, I'll keep an eye on the TLR's to see how they go against the two strokes. Thats if I can find any standard one's! last year the ones that took my eye all seemed to have lots of money spent on them.
  2. Don't say that Big John!! I'm in the process of getting my TY175 registerd for road use. I'm planning to MOT over the Xmas break, I insured it today and I've also got the age cetification form off Yamaha UK. The only thing that might throw a spanner in the works is the letter off Yamaha states: May we confirm that the Chassis # 525-.......... relates to a 1976 Yamaha TY175 (all fine up to now, but then they put this little disclaimer) "We must advise however that your machine was constructed for closed circuit competion use only and not for use on public roads. The machine therefore does not comply with the Road Vechicle (Construction and Use) Regulations and the Road Vechicle Lighting Regulations that were applicable at the time of manufacture" So, I'll have to go to the DVLA office armed with Daytime MOT, Insurance cert, and my best smile and just see how I get on . Anybody else been through this recently??
  3. I've gone the other way I've just sold my 04 125 Scorpa for a SY250, 125 was great little bike, never mind what folks say about tubed tyres and second rate suspension........ mine was fine, just lacked in the power dept on some of the bigger stuff. I would imagine a 200 cc bike would be the ideal mount (a full 200cc), if they was to make a 200 aircooled bike I'd be first in the line to buy. Mark
  4. Oy! I'm fatter than him I'll second that
  5. Should have know you'd reply BS No ride today because of above, should be out for boxing day though You out?? or will you still be stuffed from your xmas dinner??
  6. Hi Guys Just bought a 2003 SY 250 in need of a little TLC, the rear disc is a little 'bent', before I reside myself to a new one (at silly money I might add!) just wondering if anyone has got a good S/Hand one for sale?. Cheers Mark Oh, check out the split in the middle box had it welded up now but the guy who did it said the same thing happened to his!!
  7. I'd say, if your rich enough to buy a TLR your rich enough to buy the bits too
  8. Just read in TMX that Scorpa are thinking of going all Four stroke, Yamaha engines I presume? anybody in know ?
  9. I would imagine PA means clean the plates with Petrol, NOT soak them in the stuff Billy T

Well, I ended up buying the TY175, quite good conditon, the front exhaust pipe is dent free as is the rest of the exhaust system, the frame has been powder coated and the Tank recently been respayed, had a brief go on it up and down the chap's drive..pulled stronger than I was expecting it too enough to keep me happy. I'll have to give it a blast in some sections and see how she really performs, and I'll get onto Yam importers Monday about age cert, so now, who is who in the TY spares dept?. I could do with some odds and sods. I'll post some pics Sunday.

Thanks for the input guys Arghhh...I can see myself getting drawn into this Twinshock thing and spending a shed load of money T/SHOCK, I like the TLR, I've had two of them over the years and they are a nice bike (crap front brake though!) what seems to stick in my mind was both of mine seemed to be prone to the dreaded "pop and stop" syndrome (I'm sure you will know what I mean). Nice bikes all the same, From what I can see you need a grand just to get your foot in the door with a TLR. WOODY, Looks like I'll have to get a move on for the Mansell, The Clee Hills are just on my doorstep too, lovely area for trials. Hopefully see you there mate
  13. two nice Raga reps on ebay at the moment: Both in Large size, not bad price at the moment either http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...4508092228&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...4508435376&rd=1 Good luck

Cheers for that Woody, I'll keep you in mind if I don't get any Joy this weekend. If I get it I'll post some pics My mate was sying the first round is in March so it should give me plenty of time to sort out a machine. Is it much hassle to get an age related number plate for any given bike? I know in the past you had to have a 'certificate of newness' from the importer to get it road legal...is this still the case?. I would rarther not get a Q plate as I know it's a pain getting insurance for Q plates.

Cheers for that Hughsey, I know where there is a tidy one for sale at the right price, I'm going to look at it this Sat. I've got a bit of a soft spot for Yam's, I know the Fantics are good bikes but as you say "they ain't Yams" You'll love the Classic rounds, sections just right, not too hard but testing at the same time , good bunch of lads too. I never did all the rounds, I think I did about 4, I'm aiming to do all of them this year. see ya there

Rode a few of the ACU classic rounds last year on my old TY Pinkie, loved the trials, so much so I'm thinking of getting a twinshock bike just for doing these type of trials. I've always like the look of the TY175, having never ridden one I was wondering what they are like? They seem's to be loads about (see cheap
  19. Ah right I've never looked into the small print on mine, but I dare say I'm not insured for whilst on a trial either!. One of the main reasons I got my bike insured (besides doing road trials) is for the theft cover whilst at home ( But I wonder if even thats void if your in a road trial?)
  20. You need road Insurance to tax the bike anyway so what th point of having the ACU insurance? or am I missing something
  21. The Dude got sorted out with Haven, sounds like it was the last 04 250 in UK by all accounts, right price too...cheers once again guys.
  22. Sounds a bit like the Telford Show, full of MX and not much trials...such is life I guess.
  23. Cheers matt, my mate will call them sat morn first thing...he's well keen to buy!!
  24. A mate is looking for a good deal on a new 04 GG 250, any left in the uk??
