I'd try anything if I were you, I priced a rear disc up for my SY250......the best part of

When I bought a set of fresh tank stickers for my old Pinky they had like a sliver backing that you put on first then apply the outer sticker to it (I presume this was to combat the effects of the petrol vapour)
Doe's this apply to TY Mono Yams only or 80's bikes in genral?
I've just sprayed my SY250 Tank and it seemed to be made out of a different type of plastic than the old yams did.

Cheers Marky Boy, The exhaust's been done by me mate for

I presume you've not been on the 125 Scorpa then? if you ride the novice route it's a really great bike....try one one day I'm sure it will impress.
Will run rings round a Honda 4/stroke (T/S or RTL)...and so it should in this day and age...and for the cost effective thing, well we all know how much money the Hondas sell for.
I've mentioned it before, but my local dealer has a nice RLT mono for sale (pink in colour ) but the more I think about it the more it's in a kind of no mans land (as class go's anyway) I think it's still got drum brakes!! never seem a Gollner bike so can't comment on that.
Any of the Honda fans on here got there eye on the new Montesa/Honda Four stroke yet?

Looks too good to rip apart have you thought about the rims? they look like Steel in the photo's.
I think you've got to decide how much pleasure you get out of it on the road vs how much it would give you as a full blown trials bike.
I would imagine there's more of a difference than meets the eye.
Good luck

All of my TY's have rattled (I've had 4), Two were brand new and started to rattle after about 20hrs use, nothing to worry about, they just keep on going .
I think they must make em loose to stop them nipping up in the early days
I must admit it can get on you tits though.

Thought these were a bit of a bargain at

I swear I must have the olny ty175 that hasn't had the footrest mod done to it!!
Would this be far enough back and down ? I've got to wait untill I get back to work before I do the job.
-
Stu, sounds like your in Jail or something
happy new year mate
-
Interesting that wayneg, I took a 2001 250 Rev3 in part exchange for my 125 Scorpa, quite liked the bike...a dealer mate of mine mentioned that the newer models had a better airbox setup.
I must admit it never leaked any water in at the last trial I rode, it was pretty deep at times too!.
At the moment the rev3 is up for sale cause I had chance to buy a SY250 at the right price (but dont tell the wife) if the Beta does not sell in a months time I'll probably keep it.
The airbox mod is one of the things I'd consider doing from a purely maintainance point of view, I presume you had to buy a new rear guard / new airbox / and a subframe.....is that it??
Sounds expensive! was it?
Cheers

I use wd40 for the same purpose RS, find it works a treat, the only problem I found was when I mentioned it on here!! be prepaired to get ripped to bits by the boys on here who say you should only be using tyre soap
-
chill dude, what did you expect. you post crap, you'll get crap back
-
I think if you've got something to say...say it! not "Heard a rumour, but not prepard to say"...what's the point is posting in the first place
-
I love IRC tyres! why don't you just buy an IRC Tubed tyre I used to fit them to my 125 Scorpa and found they were spot on.
Seemed much better than The Mich tubed type...the IRC is a radial too.
I've just bought a 76 ty175 and the previous owner has fitted a Tubless tyre, and I've noticed it's not seating on the rim properly.
I've already ordered a Tube tyre so I'm not going to mess with it.
-
Why would you want to fit a tubeless rim to (I presume) a Twinshock Bultaco??
Or you've got your post wrong, you do mention a "SHERCO" later on.
Leaky Tubeless rims = pull rim tape out, clean up and use SikaFlex sealer around the spoke holes put the tape back in and leave over night, take out the valve and do the same = no more leaky rim

I'd be tempted with a 125, if only for the reason of cost!
The engine looks very much like CG 125 stuff which I would imagine there's loads of bit still around
I think they do look quite nice,Had my eye on one on ebay recently, the seller was local to me and I nearly put a bid on but his reserve was a bit steep. Here's another pic:

What about the TL range of bikes, see quite a few TL 125's on ebay, can be had for the

Not long before I sold mine there was an influx of TLR 200's in the UK, quite a few shops were selling new bikes (late 80's maybe early 90's)
I had chance to have a go on one, standard trim, all the guy had done was run it in and took the lights off.
Thing that stuck in my head was how flat the engine felt compared to my 250, I was thinking the 200 might be the solution instead of my Snappy 250...how wrong I was.
I sold my last 250 to a Welsh Farmer who was going to use it to round his Sheep up with
Often wondered what happened to it.
-
240 Fantic seemed quite popular at the Welsh Trophey last year, probably grips as good as anything.
I'd probably buy another TLR if it came for under
-
Sounds like quite a bit of work to fully sort one out then, and a fair bit of know how too.
Just found out a couple of pics of my last TLR, I'll post them when I can be a***d to scan them in.
One of the reasons I sold mine in favour of two strokes was the low down snatchy power del, I had a go on a TYR Yam and I thought it was just so easy to ride compared to the Honda.
I owned both of mine in my early days of trails so that wouldn't have helped with the power thing, I can see why the bikes have gained a bit of a cult following though.

Try North Wales, not too far from L'pool.
I'm sure there will be some website links from the TC homepage.
